Help, my Driving Test is booked during IVF

Post by ella »

I'm in a quandry. I've been learning to drive for ages and my test date has come through slap bang in the middle of my first IVF cycle. My pre stim scan is booked for 6th Jan and my driving test is 11 days later. Should I postpone my test until February, or should I go ahead. DH thinks I'm making excuses to get out of the test, but I dont want to lose the £40 booking fee, and if I dont cancel by Jan 2nd, I'll lose my money.
Other than that, I'm doing OK and getting used to the injections.
Thanks folks, I dont know what I'd do without you all.
Love Ella

Help, my Driving Test is booked during IVF

Hi Ella,
You say a pre- stim scan? I take it this is the one you get before starting the stimulation drugs eg: puregon? If this is the case, ( for me,It only took 8 days), for everyone it's different, but you could end up with EC at the same time, Personally, I would cancel, I found it stressful enough to be going through ICSI by itself! You can always concentrate on the driving later on.
Look after yourself and it's your decision at the end of the day, DH might be with you throughout the IVF, but not your driving test.
Scorry x

Hi Ella
Like Scorry says the situation might be out of your hands anyway. Once stimming starts I was only on it for 8 days as well before E/C so you might be pushing things to be able to expect to do both.
From what I remember of taking my driving test, It was one of the most stressful things I've ever done so if I were you I'd give myself a break and concentrate on the IVF.
Whatever you decide you have to be happy with so Good Luck anyway
Terri
xxxx

Thanks Scorry and Terri
I'm sure cancelling is the best option for me. I can continue with the lessons if I feel up to it, but you're right I could do without another stress as well as the IVF. DH thought that the test might take my mind off worrying about the IVF - typical man eh!
I think I'll show him your replies, then he wont think I'm being a coward.
Thanks again
Ella

hi ella,
I know exactly how you feel, hun. My 5th driving test was booked for slap bang in the middle of my 2ww. I decided to cancel as i found it way too stressful trying not to worry about everything, and my driving instructor was fab when i told him what was going on. You do what feels best for you, hun, and take no notice of what hubbs says...what does he know??? after all, he's just a man...lol..only jokin hun. You take care,
Love
Heather xxx
