Talk me out of doing a HPT

Please talk me out of doing a HPT. my Dh says no way, But I cannot stand it any longer. With IUI I always got me period a 2-4 days prior. I am due to test on the 30th with IVF. What have you girls done?????

Dont do it!!! Dont do it!!! Do you HPT or bloods on 30th? Its still VERY early and you wont know for sure.....like me you have had low +ve ....best to know the hcg if you can.......hold on tight!!!!!!!!!!

If you're goiing to test then test night before (29th) or even 28th but certainly no earlier - it's way too early and even on 29th you might get false negative so if you do don't be disheartened. (I can't say categorically no because I tested 2 days early and was delighted with results so sorry can't completely dissuade you)

Were you given an HCG injection prior to EC? If so, this can take 14 days to leave your system, so it IS possible to get a false positive if there is still HCG in your blood from that major injection. I’ve always done HPTs (my clinic tell you to do this) but only on test date – never before.

Try really hard not to give in - remember you still have to do the official test, so don't put yourself through the ordeal twice. It's only a couple of days away - you can do it.

Thanks, MY DH was adament when he said no, but the thought is still in the back of my mind. I just hope AF does not come. SO excited that it may be postive, I cannot contain myself, AF usually arrives 3 days earlier than test day(14 days with IUI). So,, Will let you know I guess..

Hello! I know most people probably won't agree with me but I did IVF and did a HPT 1 day early. I just couldn't wait and I also wanted to help prepare myself, incase it was negative. I figured that if the HPT said negative and my blood test was positive then great. If my HPT was negative and my blood test was negative then I saved myself some grief. I didn't really factor in that it could be positive and I might still not be pregnant. I just had to do one and no one was going to talk me out of it. I was lucky and it was positive and my blood test was positive but I have talked to some women had positive HPT and the blood test was negative.

My suggestions..... If you can hold off do. I just couldn't!

Never test early I did and I got a negative result, 24 hours later it was positive and now I have a beautiful baby boy age 17 months.
