I had Ovarian Hyperstimualtion with the IVF cycle we did 2 years age. The Dr. retreived over 30 eggs, (13 healthy embryos are frozen). It really was physically awfull! I drank sooo... much gatorade! I spent all day everyday drinking fluids. One good thing about OHS, my nurse mentioned that for some reason when people are overstimulated their percentages go up for becoming pregnant. Not sure if this is a scientific fact, I've not researched it but thought it was interesting to mention. It was worth the physical discomfort to finally become pregnant. We ended up pregnant after that one cycle of IVF. Our son is now 14 months old.

OHSS

Post by hand »

Just completed one IVF cycle and got OHSS at the point 2 days after implanation and ended up in hospital with horrific pain. Apparently the ovaries were so stimulated during the cycle the swole up 20 times normal size causing them to twist (similar to twisted gut I believe). It passes and got pain relief from Pepidene. One thing drink plenty of fluids I drank over two litres a day and it passed in a week or so. It is uncomfortable more than sore the twisting of the ovaries was very painful but, didnt last that long. News good currenlty pregnant waiting for scan two for heartbeat. U hang in there it dosnt happen to everyone but keep drinking and they suggested sleeping raised on pillows to avoid fluid renention in lungs. I ended up having drainage completed twice after implantation but again this was not painful. U will be quite swollen and it can be hard to walk when this occurs but, rest drink and it passes. Good Luck!!!
