Definitely too many people on here to name check! Gail, I noticed you started stimming injections same day as me (Tues) so I guess you are due for EC round about same day or at least week as me (my clinic do them on the Weds). Until I started bleeding yesterday I was pretty confident I'd get there but now I'll wait until Monday's scan before preparing my hospital bag!

Re the liquids - I drink a minimum of 2 litres on top of any teas etc that I drink. Am trying to cut the caffeine so have switched to darjeeling (from builders' PG Tips) and only 1 cup a day of that, and then I drink green tea during the day. The 2 lts should be the minimum - in hotter weather we sweat more so I try to make it 3 litres - but no more than that.

Hi Nicola

Just though Id mention after reading that you are drinking green tea, I thought this was a healthy safe drink while pregnant and then read in a pregnancy book "What to expect when your expecting" that "Green tea should probably be limited during pregnancy since it 'may' interfere with cell development and growth'. Sorry! I was v.frustrated when I read this. I know there are so many do's and dont's that we could go mad, but I thought it was better to let you know!
Good luck with your treatment
Love Kim

NB-The book also says that until more is known of effects of herbs in pregnancy , it is advisable to exercise caution in the use of most herbal teas in pregnancy and lactation.

Yep, I read too that it should be avoided when pg, and if I get to that stage then I'll give it up. I think (and hope) it's OK to drink before though. It's difficult - you are told to avoid caffeine (therefore normal tea) whilst trying to get pg and then afterwards are told to avoid green tea!

Hi Nicola

I know, its so difficult to know whats best. In fact the way one of my books talked, it was only best to drink water!! I love green tea as well!
Wish all the best for you!

Kagome, good luck with EC, I am sure you will do fine. Tons of baby dust on your way matey.

Staci, how did your scan go? I hope everything went ok. BTW I counted up August Buddies, yes I did, there are 26(?) of us currently cycling. I counted only the names (couldn't note the stages of each person - I got confused :? ) .... maybe it is not a bad idea to somehow have a split groups like you suggested???

August Buddies

Mia (Mia), Debra (DebP), Gail (Gailp), Denise (DeniseM), Julie (Julesg), Nicola (NickiMark), Debbie (debbieed), Trish (Trisshawne), Sue (Sue e), Colleen (Crasmus), Staci (Amethis), Sharon (Sharont), Tiger (me!), Vicky (Vickyp), Tonya (Tonyachee24), Kerry (me) ultimatemama (ultimatemama), Kagome (Kagome), nes (nes), LisaMarie (Lisa@bellasales, Ange (AngeW), Tilly (Tilly), Claire (Claire55), Jag (Jag), Nicola (dancola) and Nuala (Nuala).

I think I've got everyone here (if I have missed anyone- I'm sorry) but I am not sure how we can split?? any ideas?

Cheers, Tiger

Dancola hope your scan goes ok on Monday, my first scan isn’t until Wednesday and at the moment they think EC will be sometime in the week beginning the 8th so definitely should be similar time to you. I drink green tea instead of normal tea, I didn’t know it wasn’t advisable to drink it while pregnant though

Hello All,
This is the biggest cycling buddies thread I've seen on here - lets hope it's a lucky one.
I've been for another scan today and now feel worse than before. I only have 3 follicles developing well - some much smaller ones but they didn't even bother to measure them!!!! There is still some debate as to whether we will get to EC or whether they will just do IUI. I know this seems stupid but I would rather still have IVF and at least know how many eggs I've got and how many fertilise. I know that I then ahve to go through the whole procedure and possibly risk them not getting any eggs or none of them fertilising. Although that would be a big disaster I would at least know. If we have IUI then I'll always wonder. I'm really so disappointed and just want to give up on the whole thing (sense will make sure I don't) but it is really difficult. I have to go back for another scan on Monday to see how things are going and then whatever tmt on Wednesday. This is definately the worse cycle I've had and I am really not optimistic. Just want the whole thing over.
Sorry to be such a misery when most of you are looking forward. Just needed to rant.

Take care all

Love
Debbie

Tiger,

Thanks for taking count! I have no idea how we could break into different groups at this point. Maybe it will get a little easier to keep track once some of us get further along. Has anyone had EC yet? I know a couple are close.....like Kagnome.

Good luck Kagnome!

Debbie,

I was really hoping things would look better today. Don't apologize for complaining. I certainly would be! I see what you mean about preferring IVF if possible. Is your Dr. giving you any idea what the chances are that you'll make it to EC? Did they change your protocol around or something this cycle?

Well, my scan this morning went well. My lining was thin which was what they wanted to see and l'm fully suppressed so I'll start my estrace tablets tomorrow and go back in Fri. for my next check. If everything keeps going according to schedule I should be looking at a transfer sometime the week of Aug. 15. Of course, once that gets closer I can start panicking about whether my embryos are even going to make the thaw or not!

Have a great weekend everyone,

Staci

Just for a bit of a different perspective, Debbie. I've gone looking through some of the past posts, and there are women who've done IVF, it didn't work, and were successful afterwards with a medicated IUI. Sometimes the eggs are less traumatized this way. When a door closes, etc.... a window opens?

Why not look at this as a different chance for pregnancy? Maybe this will work where IVF didn't?

Anyways, good luck with whatever you chose.

Kagome, have you had transfer yet?
