Recent IVF Embryo Transfer - Please read and assist if you

Post by hand »

Assitance please. I recently had two embryo transfers on the 5th of July and had a positive result to HCG test two weeks later. Happy days, after 3 m/c we are estatic. Scan last week showed a 'sac' but very small measuring 4.5 mm and as per the fertility clinic their count of pregnancy is 6 weeks as at time of reimplantation they count this week 3. I had blast assisted which meant eggs were five days fertilised at 5th of July and feel therefore I could only be 4 weeks pregnant and am very concerned that this size of 'sac' is too small. A blighted Ovum has been mentioned and I must retun in 10 days for a scan to hopefully establish a heartbeat. This is a very difficult time as I am so unsure if there is a valid pregnancy or not and was wondering if anyone else experienced this after IVF?, If anyone can help please reply as I am going out of my mind.

Drugs being taken are Heparin (injection twice daily) Gestone (injection 1 daily, Glucophage (2 tabs daily), Folic Acid, Asprin (1 daily), Prednisolone (5 daily) and suppositories ( twice daily hormone release).
Can anyone share?

Hello....firstly congratulations on your +ve but I can understand your concern following the scan. I just used your dates in the pregnancy calculator (bottom left of the screen, under 'Resources') and you are 6wks4days as of today, according to that but obviously your clinic will have their own routines.

I can offer nothing but support during the next 10 days. This situation isn't that uncommon on the board, but as we have so many posting, we tend to read of all eventualities. Sometimes things come good at the 2nd scan, sometimes not but the only thing you can do is try to relax, maybe find a mini-project to distract over the next week or so, the days will drag horribly. You are pregnant until someone tells you otherwise so try to stay positive if possible, I know how hard it is, going through this uncertainty.

Good luck and let us know what happens at the 2nd scan.
Debra.

Hello hand.

Congrats, first off on a positive. The process of IVF and IUI is stressful, even after a positive.

The only thing you can do for the next bit is wait for your next scan, and hope for the best.

Debra is right, though, immerse yourself in lots to do. At least busy, you won't be constantly worried.

My prayers are with you.

Hand ... Welcome and congrats on your postive result ! As Deb and Denise and have said, concentrate on now ... there's nothing you can do to change the course of action, so remember you are pregnant at the moment.

Everything crossed for you girl in the next week or so ..

Hand

Congratulations.

As Debra, Sand, Denise have said just concentrate on yourself and the little one - I know it is hard waiting.

Good luck with the second scan and let us know how you get on.

Big hugs

Little P
