How long does it take to get fsh, lh & progesterone levels back? I had my sonogram and bloods today and they just delivered all my meds. I have to start a birth control pill for 10 days but they said not to start taking them until the hormone tests come back. they also saw a cyst on my left ovary but they said that should go away with the BC pills. Do they do these hormone test in the beginning too? Sorry for all the questions but I know alot of you have experienced all this stuff.....
Hi Lisa - As Crasmus, I've always had the bloods in the mornings and the result in the afternoons (although don't recall ever having progesterone levels taken).

thanks for the answers ladies. My clinic forgot to call me. isn't that nice. everything is fine, except for a small cyst on my left ovary. I started my BC pills today and go for a saline sonogram on the 8th.
Yes ladies I will. I had a regular sonogram yesyerday, that is how they found the cyst. Why do they do a Saline Sonogram? Just Curious. Getting excited now but nervous too... Did any of you have acupuncture during your cycle?
Lisa,
A saline sonogram or saline HSG seems to be a pretty routine test that is effective at revealing what may be going on in the uterine cavity. However, from personal experience it is far less helpful at identifying problems with fallopian tubes as compared to the standard HSG.
The saline HSG is like the transvaginal ultrasound, as it is used to evaluate your reproductive organs and identify growths or abnormalities that may be contributing to infertility. To prepare for the test, a speculum is inserted into the vagina then a small, balloon-tipped catheter is inserted through the cervix. Once the catheter is inserted, the speculum is removed and a transvaginal ultrasound probe is inserted, providing a picture on a monitor of the uterus and ovaries. Next, a warm saline solution is injected through the catheter, expanding the fallopian tubes to allow for better visualization.
Typically, this procedure is more comfortable when your bladder is empty. However, you may experience mild to severe cramping, it subsides quickly upon completion removal of the probe. My MD recommended that I take 3-200mg tablets of Ibprofen prior to the test as a precaution in case I was prone to cramping.
I hope this helps! Good Luck tomorrow!
