Can anyone tell me more about the Male Chromosome blood test (karyotype test) done when you have ICSI treatment.
My clinc takes 3 months to get results back and we can't start treatment without results if we decide we want the test. The test isn't a requirement just something they have to advise you about.
Has anyone had to have this done?
Has anyone not had test and gone on to have ICSI treatment anyway?
I'm just worried about wasting another 3 months when we've already been TTC for so long. The consultant herself said it can't tell you about specific problems, just if there is a abnormality with the chromosomes.
Hi there Pink Lady ! Welcome to the Site. We're male factor too. I can't say I've heard of this specific chromosome test, and as far as I know we didn't have it done. In fact, when I asked about chromosome tests in general they said they didn't do them as a matter of course .. just if there was a specific genetic problem that needed ruling out. I suppose it could depend on dh's sperm results .. You say it isn't a requirement, just advised .. you could ask them why you've been advised of this course of action, as you've heard of others with male factor who haven't had this advice .. see what they say ?
