Susie:
I'm sorry to hear you are sad about your results. I don't really know much about nuchal scans so I can't even offer any advise/experience. I will keep you in my prayers. Hopefully everything will be just fine with the baby.

Christine:
Glad to hear things are going well. I am almost 15 weeks with my first and I am definitely showing as well. Unfortunately, I have had a little weight gain though but only 4 pounds. Thanks for the info on the Doppler.

I'm so excited.... Next week I am going to a family reunion and we get to see family we have not seen in 2 years. Everyone is so excited about us being pregnant. It should be lots of fun!!!

Hi everyone

Christine - Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to the site! So pleased its worked out for you after all you have been through, it certainly gives hope to others.

Mil -I dare not weigh myself after all I have been eating! Have definatly got a baby bump, but wonder how much is helped by a fat layer! Mind you it is fairly solid! Cant fit in my works trousers anymore and had to start wearing maternity ones. They are still huge at the moment and come up to my waist!

Susie - Hope your appointment today went ok and they can give you more info.

Hope everyone else is ok.
Love kim

Hi all
I saw the doc today and she couldnt really give me anything. I will have a scan at 18 weeks then a special heart scan of the baby at 24 weeks. She did make it clear tho that there is reasonable odds that there will be nothing wrong with the baby and all will be fine. I do so hope so!

Hello Ladies

Post by Christine B »

Mil,
Your gain is not unusual since the uterus is growing rapidly and the increase in blood flow. I started out on the heavier weight side plus no increase in appetite yet - so it's not unusual for me not to have gained yet. I will see my OB this Friday (22nd week visit) and we'll see if I've finally gained.

Best of Luck at the Family Reunion! Everyone will be quite thrilled for you!

Kim,
Thanks for your kind thoughts!
Congrats to you so far! And don't be afraid of the weight gain. As long as your baby is doing well and you are eating good you will be fine.

Hope all is well with everyone!

hi all,
thinking of you Susie in particular and really crossing fingers for you and the baby - lets hope all is well. i know it must be hard now just to wait, but try and send positive thoughts and focus on the good chance that all will be fine. i think medical science is amazing but it does add a ehole layer of worries that women never had before all these tests were possible. would it hwlp to try and focus on the thought that all is well and perfect with your baby unless you hear otherwise?

as for everyone else, following your progress and enjoying hearing about plans etc. does anyone honestly feel as though they're blooming yet?!! if so, tell me that it does really happen!!

i am 15.5 weeks now and i'm afraid still feeling wretched much of the time. the nausea and vomiting takes a brief respite for a day or two max and then returns at full tilt. i have started to feel that i may feel like this forever!!

i have had my booking in appt with the midwife and now have nothing until i see her again in 4 weeks and then my anomoly scan at 22 weeks. i have a bump emeging quite clearly but am not quite at maternity clothes stage. think i will just invest in a pair of reallly gorgeous maternity jeans and improvise with the rest!

take care all and look forward to hearing how you're all getting on soon.

Susie:
Sorry to hear you just have to wait now! It's like the 2ww all over again but probably worse. Hopefully there will be nothing wrong.

Christine B:
I'm not too worried about my weight gain. I feel like I'm in range but I am showing a lot. It is really strange to have only gained 4 pounds but I look really pregnant. I have been in maternity clothes for a month. They were/are a little big but my regular clothes just don't fit. I have a friend who didn't start showing until 7 months.... She only gained 18 pounds. When she came home for the hospital she looked like she was never pregnant. Of course, she is also a personal trainer.

minnow:
Hi, haven't heard from you in a while. Glad everything is moving along. Sorry to hear you still feel bad. I have to say I'm not totally enjoying it all YET!! I hope it changes but like you, I still don't feel good a lot. My nausea has been gone for several weeks but now I just get these awful headaches and the 50 trips a day to the bathroom. I was just telling my DH yesterday that I feel bad that I'm not loving it and he said we just haven't gotten to the good part yet. I hope you are not sick your whole pregnancy. I know that can happen to some women. It happened to a good friend of mine and I felt so bad for her. Has it gotten any better?

Everyone take care!

Hi Jessica!

It's great to hear from you! This site is great and everyone is so nice! How are you doing? Progressing well yourself I see! Please keep me updated about your next Scan.

Hi Ladies!
I had my Checkup today and my uterus is measuring good and baby is actively moving with a very strong heartbeat. Gained 1 lb this visit. My OB was very pleased. Glucose test will be at next visit (26 weeks). I also have been in maternity clothes for a while now as regular ones especially pants do not fit anymore. They are a bit big right now but that leaves room to grow.

Hope things are getting easier for all of you. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Everyone

Christine - So pleased everything is going well. My 20 week scan is on the 2nd September. Looking forward to it, but also nervous as well!

Minnow - Im sorry you are still suffering so much with the nausea. I find it strange that mine was fairly mild until 11 weeks then kicked in a bit more. I still cant really complain, as only ever been sick once, but it does get me down sometimes. Feel quite bad about that when I read your posts!

Mil - We are led to believe that the 2nd trimester is the good bit! Maybe thats why we feel as we do. We expect to feel ill in the first trimester!
I get odd days when I feel so tired in the afternoon. I then find that I feel worse if I have a sleep! Do feel pleased about having a bump. In fact im desperate to look bigger!

Susie - I know it must be difficult to have to wait to hear definate answers, but your doctor sounded quite positive that things could very well be ok? Look after yourself.

Sher and Julie - Hope you are both doing ok?

Im going for another blood test tommorrow. My bloods came back that my haemoglobin level was borderline. They are checking levels of vit B12, folate and ferritin. I was quite worked up when I got this through the post, but Im presuming that its just my iron levels, which can be affected during pregnancy. Has anyone else found this?

Take care everyone

I am feeling good these days. I guess I was pretty lucky to avoid any really sick feeling. I did have my share of pain in the first trimester with OHSS though. Seems that has calmed down. I heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time on Friday and my due date is determined as February 1st. I am so happy that this is now becoming so real. We informed all of our friends and that has made it even better. Everyone is happy for us. I went to some thrift stores for bigger pants this weekend and found some good bargains.

K- I am taking an iron supplement every other day with my prenatal vitamin. It is very common to be iron deficient during pregnancy and I found that the pills helped.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Hi Ladies (and babies)-

Just wanted to check in, it has been a long time since I posted. I had a cerclage placed 2 weeks ago (where your cervix is stitched)- mostly for peace of mind, as this is twins and my uterus is, as they say, "untried." I have suspicions that I was exposed to DES in utero, but my mom passed away 2 years ago, and no one remembers.

Anyway, that went fine and I am on track with enjoying this pregnancy- however, not a day goes by when someone doesn't ask me if I am due any day now!!! I am only 15.5 weeks and finding it a little hard to imagine where this is going to end up. I promise if it gets really freaky, I will post a picture.

K- thanks for checking in. Yes, low Hb just means anemia, which lots of us will be facing along the way, I think. Like Sher says, just an iron supplement (some people complain about them, but for IVFers, a pill is no big deal).

Minnow- I am so sorry you are still feeling sick. Hopefully relief is right around the corner.

Mil- how are you? Hope the headaches get better- I have been having them too. Maybe it is this nasty heat and smog.

Hello all
Thanks for all the well wishes.
Julie - good to hear from you and that you are doing well
K - Dont worry about the iron levels. I had to take iron tablets all thru my last pregnancy, for me they were a godsend as I suffered badly with constipation last time and they helped keep me regular, not what they are used for but it was good for me!
Minnow & Mil - Sorry to hear you both feel a bit ill hope you both start to feel good soon.

I feel a bit better now about the nuchal result. I keep telling myself that theres only a slim chance that something could be wrong, and hoping all will be OK. I havent told my mum about the nuchal result so as not to worry her, so shes still off buying things at a great rate and has even knitted some cardies. I am desperate to start buying, but I darent even look until after my 20 week scan.

My 20 week scan is on 6th Sept at 11.30 and my DD starts school at 10.30 on that day, so whatever happens I'll just be crying all day anyway.
I hope the scan does go OK, as we plan to tell her about the baby on the evening after her first day at school as we'll of had the scan. She begs for a baby sister on a daily basis now so I just hope I can make her wish come true.

Anyway hope your all OK

Hello ladies! Hope everyone is still doing well.

julie:
I kept meaning to post and see how your cerclage went. Glad to hear everything is turning out okay. I can't believe you are showing so much. I guess that is a result of twins. I am also showing quite a bit for a single or at least I think so. I don't really have much to compare it to though. Sorry to hear you are having headaches now too. Mine are not quite as often but when I get one; it usually lasts the whole day. I don't know the cause but I sure wish I could make them stop for both of us. :)

Susie:
Glad to hear you are doing better about the nuchal results. From hearing your story and another friend of mines, I know I don't want one to worry myself to death. A friend of mine has also has fertility issues and has had 3 miscarriages and 4 surgeries to repair damage, etc. She is finally pregnant (6 1/2m) had one of those scans and they found something wrong MAYBE! It's the maybe thing that worries me. I truly hope everything turns out well for you and it was all nothing.

Sher:
I heard my baby’s heartbeat for the first time a couple weeks ago too. It's so awesome, isn't it? It's so fun telling family & friends. I loved seeing everyone’s reaction. Glad you’re doing well.

Everyone take care!

Susie,

Your post brought tears to my eyes. Don't think it is the hormones, but just very touching. I wish you the best and glad that you are keeping a positive outlook on things. I think it best for you to enjoy every minute of your pregnancy. We work so hard to get it, you know.

The iron supplement keeps me regular as well so I am (in a way) glad that I need to take them.

Still feeling good, just trying to keep hydrated in this hot, hot summer weather. I wake up in the middle of the night dying of thirst. My tongue is like a giant sponge.

Take care all.
