Hi ,

Debra thanks for your post. I have to try and stay positive because who knows what will happen next time round. I think last time they did the collection too early for my little eggs had my hcg shot on day 9 don't think they'd grown enough. By the way it is private. I've been eating quite healthy for the last few weeks and very little alcohol. Started eating almonds and seeds so hopefully tht will help. I'm aso under going acu andgetting herbs as well fro balancing so if I have to do another blood test then hopefully it may be down a bit further. ANyway I will have to wait and see what the nurse says.

Debbie, I am so please things have improved i bet your feeling more positive now. Fingers crossed now and lots of PMA and baby dust for you.

How is everyone else doing?

Love,

Jane

Hello All,
Feeling ok today. the last orders were given and yes I have EC done tomorrow (Wednesday).I've had my final injection and feel sore and bloated but at least tomorrow is nearly here. So hopefully we're looking at ET on Friday (my clinic does 2 day transfers). then to begin the 2ww. I haven't been very positive through this treatment but I guess each cycle is different. I am now quite excited and nervous about EC tomorrow. I'll keep you all posted on my progress.
Take care all

Love

Debbie, excellent news! The very best of luck for EC tomorrow. Start to feel empowered and positive, you need a good head of steam for the 2ww!

Sharon, if I read the posts properly I would have realised you were in sunny South Wales, sorry!

Katie, how did it go yesterday?

Jane, sounds like you're doing really well with the prep. I do look at every mouthful now with a 'is this going to help or hinder?', doesn't always stop me but at least I'm getting there!

hugs all round,
Debra.

Hey Everyone,

Debbie: Sounds like the harvest will go well. Keep us posted.I pray they are nice healthy eggs.

Jane: Yes, they may have collected too soon...not your fault at all.
When do you plan your next cycle?

Debra&Ladies : Horray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have 4 follicles and the nurse says it is a better cycle than the first one(when I got a positve). The sizes are 21, 19, 18, and 17!!!! The inseminations are Wed and Thurs.

Now if I get another positive I pray to our heavenly Father that the eggs will be healthy ones. My April pregnancy ended because of a chromosome abnormality. Ladies pray for my eggs...I'm excited and very scared.
I know I shouldn't have waited so long...but I know I'll be a better mommy now.

Hello All,
Not such god news from me I'm afraid. Physically the EC went well, but they only managed to get 2 eggs :( :( :(
I'm REALLY nervous now about how many will fertilize. We've been lucky before and had 4 out of 6 and 5 out of 6 fertilize so hopefully things will be ok - but you all know what an emotional time this is and those doubts keep rearing their ugly heads.
At our clinic they say for us to phone after 12 tomorrow (Thursday) to see how many have fertilized, they then give the time etc for the ET. Mind you, they are never there at 12 and always ring back sometime later!!! Gives me plenty of time to bite my nails!!! On the first tmt at the phonecall stage we were told that only 2 had fertilized, but by the time we went for ET 2 more had fertilized. Goodness knows what will happen this time if they are both slow to fertilize - being pessimistic, they'll say forget it :(
I can't believe that I am actually praying for the 2ww!! Not with as many embies as I'd have liked (would have had 3 put back again if we'd had the chance) but at least it would give us a couple more weeks of hope. If the worse comes to the worse tomorrow will see the end of our IVF adventure. REALLY hoping it doesn't come to that.
I'll let you all know what happens tomorrow.

Love

Debbie, well done on getting those 2. All we need is for them to do their stuff and maybe encourage the others to hurry up too! I know how nerve-racking this next sleep will be, you'll just have to sit and relax, let your body recover from EC and prepare for ET. Best of luck with the call tomorrow. Leave those nails alone

hugs

Debbie,
I'm sending up prayers for you that both fertilize and you have two top grade embies for transfer!!!
Geeze! What a time to need alcohol and you can't indulge! Well, life has other indulgences, so maybe they will suffice until you have your news.
(Good book, cheeseburgers/fries, hot tea, foot rubs....???)
God Bless!

Debbie,

Just got back on to pc - have to use hubby's laptop and if he's away working, like he was yesterday day/night, have to wait 'til he gets home. I am having withdrawal - I really miss chatting to you girls.

Firstly, Debbie, high numbers are not everything, those two eggs could be all you need for tmt to be a success. You've done the hard, physical work now - really try and relax this evening and recover. I will be praying hard for you tomorrow. We are going away for a few days and back on Sunday so unfortunately I am going to have to wait until then to hear your news. Thinking of you both.

Hugs

Sorry girls, I meant to also say to Katie, really nice size follicles, that's very encouraging and hopefully there will be some really good quality eggs tucked away in there! Looking forward to following your progress.

Jane - you sound as though you are doing all the right things - a healthy diet is always a good idea at any time, but especially now. I started a healthy eating regime alongside a course of acupuncture, a while before I had my FSH levels measured and to my absolute shock I had a 4.9 reading - although I didn't achieve a BFP this last time, I had a good yield 6 out of 9 eggs fertilised, one reaching a 6 cell stage within the first 24 hours. I like to think that my prep work had something to do with that part of the cycle. So keep healthy and positive.

Will catch up with you all on Sunday, if we're not back too late, otherwise have a super weekend all, look after yourselves and speak to you soon.

Sharon,
I'm very interested to know what your fsh was before the 4.9. I had assumed that you've always had a low level. Please share the difference if you know it. Also, more info about your healthy eating regimine and acupuncture tmt would be appreciated. If these two things can make a difference in your fsh levels.... count me in!!! :D
Thanks for sharing.

Randa,

As you know, there was a long gap between this last cycle in February and the one before. In fact, when we had our IVF treatments back in 1998 I don't even recall having my fsh levels taken although I'm sure they were and I can only think that they fell within 'normal'. I do recall earlier than that though, when we first started our initial investigations that when they took blood between days 1-3 of the menstrual cycle that again everything was normal. I guess I was more aware this time of how important fsh levels are because I am that much older and therefore I paid more attention to numbers!! Sorry if this sounds a bit vague.

Zita West's book was my bible this time and although we didn't get the result we wanted, I was glad I followed her advice - good intake of Vit C, E and B-complex, Selenium, Magnesium and Zinc (I avoided Vit A as ZW advised against it - although I cannot remember her reason without checking it out in my book - maybe the other ladies will probably know. Ideally, if you are going to take these supplements, it is wise to start, if possible, 1/2 months before treatment. She also recommends Coenzyme Q10 + Vit E after EC to help release energy from th cells in the body and help with the healing process.

I also undertook a 2 month (weekly) acupuncture treatment cycle. I know a lot of ladies start acupuncture a while before treatment to enable the acupuncturist to table their monthly cycles, getting them to complete basal temperature charts - I wish I had started earlier as I had never done this before and it would have been interesting to see if there were many changes from month to month. This month, for example, I have had an awful period, not so much painful but I have been extremely sensitive and tearful (and unreasonable with DH!!) and yet since treatment in April other periods have been ok. Really felt like the hormones got a hold of me this month. One thing that was quite remarkable during my acupuncture treatments was that I have always suffered from backache, as far back as my teenage years. I do have a retroverted uterus and one of the symptoms of this can, apparently be backache. During my acu. treatments my symptoms completely disappeared and since I have stopped acupuncture, the backache has returned. One other thing I should mention, back in 1998 when they were doing ET it took them a while to locate the uterus and the procedure was quite painful. I was a little apprehensive this time but it took all of 30 seconds - I was more relaxed, remembered ZW's deep breathing exercises and it helped.

I also cut out (almost 100%) coffee, tea and alcohol. Oh, did drink some green tea but absolutely hated it! Didn't have chocolate, ate nuts and raisins, drank lots of water and continued to eat lots of leafy green veg.

I wish I could say that after all that we had a BFP but other ladies follow a similar regime and it works wonders for them - and I'll do it again (after this weekend because we're going away for a few nights but as from Monday I will try and get healthy again!!)

Sorry for going on and off the subject from time to time but Randa, hope some of this info. will be of use to you and others.

Night night girls.
