Happy First Birthday Emily and Alice Sharp!

Post by Jules R »

I'm not sure if Tracey will find the time to look in on the board but I want to wish Emily and Alice a very happy 1st birthday! It doesn't seem a year ago that I was constantly checking the board to see if they'd arrived.

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday dear Emily!
Happy Birthday to you!

Happy Birthday to you!

Tracey - I just never visit the board any more - it's really difficult to get on at work these days and I don't have access at home.

But I think about all my pals very often and miss chatting all the time like we used to!!!

BUT ....... enough about me - Happy Birthday to two very special girls!!! Alice and Emily. And Hello to their Mummy & Daddy too!!!

How lucky are we? I just never stop thinking it and I know you do too Trace.

Will try my very best to post more often - lots of love to you all.

You are a star -have texted you - not sure if you ever got it -t he books are lovely and just managed to find your new home address so am posting the thank you letter tomorrow with some new photos - was waiting for the printer - new one so you could have better photos - do you have a new email yet.
I am been useless at getting on here - will make more effort. Emily is now walking and Alice only started crawling a month ago - what is she like? They are a delight if not hard work just for having two at once! Alice can push along her brick trolley now thank god so hoping she might walk before she is two. Talking of two she still only had two teeth! Emily has 6.
Hope all well with you all and all my friends here. Jo great to hear from you too. Nik is due her 3rd any day now but not in touch with her either so sent her an email - still waiting.
Love to you all

Traci, don't give Alice's crawling another thought. Maya didn't ever really do it, she bum-shuffled at high speeds until she was nearly 21 months! only then did she walk....I thought she'd never start. Now of course, she's an olympic sprinter esp. in Ikea....dashes off and dives into bed displays, snuggles down shouting 'Maya's sleeping' just in case the staff hadn't noticed....

Glad to hear you're all doing well.
hugs
Debra.

Debra

great to hear from you too - 21 months - yikes! can't wait that long as having to keep Emily back in her gymbabes class and she needs to be in the next one.
Someone give me advice on what to give the buggers for tea - do lunches ok but run out of ideas at tea time and they don't really eat sandwiches or self feed too well. Pick at bits and then on the floor - the usual
Take care

Tracey, re ideas for food. Some of these ideas are for when the girls are a little older but might help spark some ideas. We don't eat meat and only started with fish this year so we eat slightly differently from most.

Maya still prefers an assortment of things vs. a bowl of one item for dinner. Tonight she ate a sliced hard boiled egg, a vegan sausage, a small piece of cheese, baked beans and peas, she then wolfed down a whole pear.

When pushed for time, I used to make toast pizza using pasta sauce as a base, putting whatever finely chopped veggies I could get away with - mushrooms and olives always worked well, topped with grated cheese then grilling it. Very quick and very popular.

I have a fabulous fail-safe that Maya loved and it froze well. It's a US recipe so uses cups.

Yummy Broccoli and cheese nuggets.
Makes - loads! Prep. time 8-10 mins. Cooking time 20-25 mins.

You need:
spray oil /greaseproof paper might work though.
16oz frozen broccoli, cooked, drained and chopped
1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
1.5 cups of grated cheese
2-3 large eggs

Preheat oven to 190 (375 US)
*Spray a baking sheet with vegetable oil and put to one side
*In a large bowl, combine all remaining ingredients and mix well.
*Shape mixture into nuggets and place on baking tray c. 10cm apart. *Bake for 15mins then turn over. Serve warm.

As I said, they freeze well, I microwaved them warm again. I also made it with spinach (which worked) and cauliflower (which didn't!).

Other current fail-safes include Spanish omelette, fish fingers although she's only recently started to like these, she also really likes most vegan 'meat-a-like' products. There was a stage this year when she rejected everything except Weetabix, I rolled with it and gave her Weetabix with raisins mushed into a porrage. The phase only lasted a week or so......thank goodness. I also had a phase of making her microwave souffles (aka. a whisked egg in a small plastic bowl on full power for 60 seconds). I'd put a little grated cheese in and maybe some chopped veg. It puffs up and looks very exciting. She'd eat that with Marmite on toast.

I'll think on but my biggest lesson so far is that everything is a phase and they pass. Right now she's obsessed with dragging her chairs into the kitchen and standing at the workbench then switching on/off the microwave. Seriously annoying but so was pulling out all the plugs and that passed......

gotta love the little buddles of fluff haven't you?
Debra.

Hey Tracey,
So nice to see you on the boards again! I hope you had a lovely birthday with Emily and Alice and Ian, did you have a party? Seems strange that one is walking and the other one not, but mine are also different, Alex might walk sooner than Nadia although they are both very shaky on their feet still. But they keep trying to get up and put their hands up to be helped by mummy with walking, very sweet but I cannot do both at the same time and that is stressful... But as Debra says this too shall pass!
Dinner - mine eat pasta with tomato sauce like mad, just some easy pasta shape and some canned tomatoes simmered with some onion and herbs if they tolerate them. They eat them well and do not throw much on the floor which is more than I can say for food they do not like. They always eat soup, too, any kind of veggies boiled + chicken and then I soak some bread in it for bulk, goes down a treat! I also make some cheese sauce on broccoli or caulifllower, works with Alex, not Nadia. When I despair, i give them a peach which is their favourite.
Hope you manage well and look forward to hearing from you! With lots of love,
juliana

Hi girls,

It's been ages since I posted over here as I have been accessing the bumpstomums site more than this whenever I get time (where Jules and Shell visit), and working, and looking after Jay, so time is a bit tight to say the least!

Debra - How are you - I noticed that your cycling again - best of luck hon - thoughts and prayers are with you. How is Maya getting on?

Hi Jo - have been wondering how you are - how is Alice and work? I have to log on when I can at work too and know how difficult it is to sneak on!

Tracey- Happy belated birthday to the girls - how lovely to hear from you at long last. Did you go back to work? What's happening with you? Jay's now 20 months old. He only started walking properly at 18 months and now there's no stopping him - he's nearly running and can dance and kick a football! So cute - loads of white blond curly hair, big blue eyes and 12 teeth (with 4 canines coming at once at the moment!). he's at nursery 4 days a week which he loves adn has 2 girlfriends - one of whom is called Maya! re Food. He eats pretty much similar stuff for lunch and tea - ie pasta or couscous with roasted vegetables and tomato sauce, spag bol, fish pie, lamb and bean casserole, lamb curry, chilli, thick veg soup and toast, risotto, macaroni cheese, bangers and mash. whenever I cook something at home for me and DH, I either do loads and freeze portions in pots for Jay, or save some to heat up for him the next day. At weekends we try to eat together and go out a lot with him at lunchtime, but in the evenings he is starving for tea at 5.30 and we don't eat until 7.30. For pud he has sponge and custard, fruit and yoghurt, fruit and ice cream, cheese and crackers, etc.

Love to you all and your gorgeous miracle babies!
