Heather, Hamilton Island sounds fab!!, we had a week on Hayman Island when I was 16 weeks pregnant, is sooooo beautiful up there, hope you have a fabulous time.
Deanne, hope you're puppy is OK. My sister's dog ate three blocks of chocolate and became quite ill, apparently he was pooing out the foil (he ate the blocks wrapper and all) for weeks afterwards..Can be quite serious I think, glad that he seems to be getting beter...Are the crampy feelings still about?
Tiger, hope the sniffing is going OK, not long now until you see your beautiful husband again!!..bet you can't wait..
My Boo is getting there slowly I think. She became febrile again yesterday but then cooled down after I stripped her to a nappy and a singlet..I'm taking her back to the doctor this morning to get her checked out again just to be sure (if only I earnt frequent flyer points for visiting the doctor..I could fly to Hamilton Island too!!)

Tiger - How are your sessions with Alice going? Mine are going really well. She told me I am making progress. My last AF was almost pain free - which is a first for me. My treatment is getting a little more aggressive as we go on - not always too comfortable as the needles go in. I feel really sleepy & relaxed when I leave. When I lay there & hear people coming and going, I always wonder if it is you (even though I don't know what you sound like!!!!) I started sniffing this morning - yuk! I hope you are getting used to it & not having too many side effects. Last time I had a few headaches & was tired & sleepy +++. Your scan if not far away now. You and DH will be reunited before you know it - time flys when you're doing IVF.
We are off to the Gold Coast tomorrow & I can't wait. I hope the weather will be nice. At least it will be warmer than Melbourne - it's been so cold over the last couple of days.

hi everyone, happy weekend - although it has gone so quickly, its almost Monday..... Qld weather sounds wonderful, as we have had a really wintery week in Melbourne this week. Everyone sounds well - Tiger - sorry you aren't 'enjoying' the sniffing - I preferred it to the needles, but don't take that the wrong way, the needles really didn't hurt a bit, it was more the thought. When do you have your scan?
We had our 12 week ultrasound on Friday, it was amazing, meausrement from head to bottom is 6 cm, which sounds tiny (and IS tiny), but we could see hands, feet, fingers etc - the little one was wriggling and squirming so much that DP has decided it must be a boy (he is the active one at home, I am quite happy to sit around and read a book). The dr thinks everying looks fine, did the nuchal fold measurements and we get the results back later this week.
Its funny, because now that I don't feel sick very often, and am not yet showing, and can't feel anything when I poke at my tummy, the whole thing becomes a bit unreal and I have to convince myself everything is ok. Seeing something (someone) that size, moving around inside you, so well developed already, makes it amazing.
We have a follow up appointment with the obstetrician in a fortnight and then another scan at 19 weeks, which is near the end of September. If everything is going well, we will bring the older kids in to see the scan, they are getting quite excited. We think that we will try to find out what it is (I didn't with the other two), which we should be able to do at 19 weeks.
My best friend had her twins last week (Estella Maria and Annastasia Kate) and DD and I are off to Tassie next weekend for a visit. She sent me a text message 2 hours after they were born, telling me how clever she was (she had been really stressed about the birth) and it sounds like they are doing really well.
Double serve of TV tonight - BB eviction and 2 hours of 24 (plus watched my footy team pull off an unexpected win yesterday "go doggies") - easy to pick the couch potato in our house!!

Josie, I'm so glad that your little one is doing well! It must have been great being able to see that much detail. Hopefully once the little bump arrives it will make it seem extra real, but in the meantime just relax and enjoy the PG. No more nausea sounds wonderful to me!
I'm having a 13 week scan next Tuesday and am nervously looking forward to it. I'm still getting nauseous in the late afternoon and it tends to last until bedtime. I wake up feeling fine though so at least am able to get my work done during normal hours. I'm needing less naps too which is a big relief. Bel you asked about the mild cramps I'd been getting - they only lasted a couple of days fortunately.
Miss Molly I hope you're having a great time on the Gold Coast. It's so nice to defrost in the sun for a little while.
Anyone else watch the Test last night? It was such an exciting finish (better than a 1 day game). I'm actually a bit glad England won (treacherous I know), but it makes the series a lot more interesting. I want the Aussies to win overall though of course!

Josie, glad that the scan went well, the 19 weeks scan is fabulous, sooo much detail and movement..We found out the sex as well with Annie, meant we could set up her nursery in pink and purple and green (sounds horrendous but is actually very sweet) and think of baby names. We also figured we would probably only have the one baby (being so hard to get pregnant and all!?!), so may as well have the full expereince.
Deanne, good luck for tomorrow, sure that it will all go well..Youa re officially in the second trimester now..YAYAYAY!!..I found this time to be much more pleasant, more energy, less nausea and even the return of the libido..enjoy!
Boo is doing much better, though now I am in the wars..Annie accidently bit my left nipple with one of her sharp top teeth about the week ago. The wound got infected and feels a lot like I was being stabbed with a red hot poker every time I fed..Hiddeous..I have a lactation consultant who has been incredibly supportive and helpful, means I have to "rest" the left nipple, feed from the right side only and hand express from the left to keep up my supply..Is hard work but Annie is doing so well on breastmilk I'd really like to continue with it for as long as she wants it..Wish me luck!

Yep, it has hurt like hell, luckily I have an excellent lactation consultant who has just been a dream to deal with, she gives excellent evidence based advice, as well as insights from her own breastfeeding experiences. I would definately recommend getting a consultation with a lactation consultant if you want to breastfeed. I found I got sooo much conflicting advice from the midwives in the hospital, I decided to bite the bullet and pay $75 to get an expert in and then just follow her advice and no-one else's. Was probably the best $75 I have spent in the last nine months (can't believe Annie is nine months old!!!)

I am better with sniffing now - still don't like it (nag nag nag nag) but I am ok with it, and I have had my AF since Sat - so I am all ready for the scan tomorrow. Excellent.

Glad to hear that you're doing OK, and not long now until you see your fabulous husband..Johnie and I are STUFFED at the moment, Annie has had a bad run of ear infections / colds / fevers and then my infected nipple..Lactation consultants are fabulous people. They are usually midwives (nurses) who have gone onto do further training. There is an International Board of Lactation Consultants and the really good ones are certified by them (they have an IBCLC after their name). They aren't that expensive to see privately and will often see you in your home. A few friends have even seen them during their pregnancy as preparation for their breastfeeding experiences, and you can also do courses run through the Australian Breastfeeding Association prior to having the baby..Good to think of this stuff ahead of time I reckon!!

just to let you know that I had my Down Reg scan today and unfortunately they found one large follicle growing on my right ovary
..... so instead of starting on needles I have more sniffing to do - in double doses now - until next Wed. I am booked in for another scan on Wed so hopefully everything will be ok then and I can start on my needles.... otherwise I am up poo creek?

Tiger, I am so sorry to hear that your scan didn't go as planned, I really hope the double sniffing (yuk) does it's stuff and that nasty follicle goes away before next week. I will keep my fingers crossed for you and let's hope that your next scan brings better luck.

Josie, amazing stuff. It sounds like everything is going really well. I love the idea of letting the kids in to see the scan. It is great that they can get to know their sibling prior to his/her birth and incredibly educational. How are your joints? Did you manage to find a specialist or have the support bandages fixed the problem?

Well, slap me if you like, my clinic have talked us into one last go. I still don't have any confidence in them but at least it bodes well for a stress free cycle....if you have no expectations you can relax throughout the whole thing! They are going to do a flare cycle, just for something different. After consulting Dr Google, I don't think this is a great plan (poor egg quality) but at least it minimises the chances of me ovulating prior to EC and it will be quick (I can get the cycle in before THAT birthday). I still have to take those wretched BCP to get my timing right though...yuk! Sometimes I feel like the clinic is using me as a bit of a lab rat, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the decisions that they make. Oh well, I will warn you now, I probably have some drama queen moments coming up so just tune out or really, slap me!

Tiger, I had to do the double sniffing as well, all worked out well for me and I went onto injections about a week later (I think it was a week anyway?!?!?). I used to get soooo frustrated with any delays in the whole IVF cycle, I felt like I had made the decision to go down this path so it should HAPPEN sooner rather than later..but then maybe you're more patient than I am!?!
Heather, no slapping from me, sounds sensible to have another go with a new protocol. I've not heard of a "flare" protocol, what does this involve ?(I could consult Dr Google I guess but would prefer a summarised version if that's OK!!)
We're doing OK here, the breast bite seems to have largely healed though it is still a little sore during feeds. I have found that as Annie grows she becomes more distracted on the breast, if she hears something or Johnie walks into the room she tears away from me (rather painfully) to see what's going on..This is potentially how the damage was done in the first place, so I am trying hard to minimise distraction during feeds for my own protection!!

Tiger I remember my clinic saying it was quite common to have to do double doses, so like Bel I wouldn't be concerned about it. After all they do the monitoring to make sure the timing and treatment is spot on. So I'm sure you'll be on track on Wednesday. Your hubby will be pleased with the Poms' start to the 3rd test too - England are on quite a roll at the moment!
Bel thanks for yet another invaluable tip about the lactation specialists. I think my hospital (the Mater) brings them in to see you, but I will double-check. Apparently I gave my poor Mum a terrible time with nipple-biting so I'm hoping it's not genetic!!
I hope you're able to keep Miss Boo focused on the task at hand from now on - I had to smile at the image of her spinning around to see if there's something more interesting going on elsewhere in the house!!
Heather I think there's nothing to be lost by trying a different protocol and you certainly won't get a slapping from any of us. Each cycle carries the possibility of success and that's a great thing. Plus it gives you a bit longer to accrue some time off if you need to travel for the next one I guess. I really hope that this one brings a BFP though.
Have a lovely weekend everyone. We've got more family and friends visiting and I'm looking forward to it. We're trying an African restaurant tomorrow night so that should be interesting. No nausea for me for the last 2 days - hooray - so I'll be eagerly tucking into the menu!

Tiger I remember my clinic saying it was quite common to have to do double doses, so like Bel I wouldn't be concerned about it. After all they do the monitoring to make sure the timing and treatment is spot on. So I'm sure you'll be on track on Wednesday. Your hubby will be pleased with the Poms' start to the 3rd test too - England are on quite a roll at the moment!
