Jag, sorry to hear your mother’s not been supportive. We made the decision not to tell our families – DH’s because, being Italian, they would not understand the IVF concept (attitudes there are old-fashioned and the Catholic church is against assisted conception), and mine simply because I don’t need the additional pressure of meeting people’s expectations. My mother would not be any help – she knows there is a problem yet (and that it’s male factor) yet made some silly remark one lunchtime that I wouldn’t become pg unless I ate my green vegetables! I could have cut her tongue out for making such an insensitive remark. So, we ‘suffer’ alone with just each other for support, and that’s fine for me. Should I ever become pg, I will most likely explain to my mother what we did, but it’s not something we would ever mention to DH’s family.

Ignore your mother re first attempts not working – that’s not true. Whilst the law of averages does suggest that people need as many as 3 attempts, many women on this board have had +ves on their first go, myself included last year. Sadly I lost the pregnancy (due we now think to killer cells) but it just goes to show you that it CAN work. I’m not actually a PMA-er myself (I prefer to expect the worst) and this is my 3rd cycle (but the first since diagnosis of uNKC) and my DH is already preparing himself for this one not to work either!! Sometimes it is just the luck of the draw (I’m a great believer in fate myself).

Hi girls

I’m posting very rarely, but on time I'll be your friend. Every day I'm learning so much from you.
I've bad experience with our families. I've had three negative IVF.
One of my worry, when I've finished treatments, is how to tell our families because of failure.
Even, one day, when I waited for results, when my embs were in my uterus, telephone was ringing. It was the sister of my husband. She started to take lectures to my husband, to accuse my husband that he doesn’t want to help his mother with money, because she has very low pension. My heart started to flitter more, and my breath was difficult. I was very nervous that day, next day also. I listened to the music to relax. I used to sing sometimes to throw away my disturbance. It didn't work.
After two days at Aug.19 I had my cycle. I had to do test at Aug.22, so I knew earlier what happened in my body.
Every failure I have something to blame, but I know that I'm wrong.
Now reading a lot in this forum, I know that something is wrong with me, with my immune system. I’m very sure for that. Because I get tired often, become ill often.
I'm waiting until my next FET. I didn't decide when to start it yet.

So Jag you are not the only one. Just try not to think about it, ignore everything you don’t like.

Hi girls. popping in to see how you are all getting along.

Jag, you poor thing. (lots of hugs) I chose not to tell the parents as they are very old fashioned and probably will not understand. We did tell my dh's brothers and sisters, mainly coz they sort of found out. They've been very supportive and have also been very excited at the fact that we could have twins. I hope your parents will understand soon. Sending you lots of PMA.

Sorry for not many personals, there's so many girls this month I can't keep up. Sending you all lots of HUGS and PMA.

Hello All,
Best of luck for all of you lined up for EC and ET this week.
The decision of who to tell is always difficult. It took me ages to tell my mum but when I did she was great. She's an ex nurse so has a good idea about the process. She also has a friend who went through it several times (with all -ive results) so she knows it's not a bundle of laughs. She lives close to me so has been able to give me my injections. DH's Dad also knows about the IVF but he is in his 80's and I'm not sure how much he understands. DH is an only child so it's his only hope of a grandchild so he's keeping his fingers crossed. He lives a good distance from us so only gets to hear about progress by phone.
So I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. For those of you not so lucky, I'm sorry, but at least you have support here. Wish I could do more to help you all.
Guess I can at least send you all a hug and lots of PMA.
I'm just lazing around getting extremely bored and trying to stay positive.
Take care all
Love
Debbie

hi all,

Hope everyones treatment is progressing well. I had my baseline scan on monday and need to carry on with the burselin for 9 more days. they found a small cyst, my lining was 7 so still a bit to go but the thing i am worried about is my tube has filled up with fluid. If this does not go by next scan 17th the cycle is over and i will probably need surgery. the weird thing was just before i started DR she done a scan to check tube and it was fine, has anyone else experienced this, were it has filled up between scans and then disappeared? At the minute i dont feel too bad, just trying to believe that it will all come good.

Sorry to hear about people not getting the suport they would like from their families, it sucks. but on a brighter side everyone has got as much support they want and need here and for that i am so greatful. THANKS GIRLS YOUR THE BEST!!! There is nothing like first hand experience from people who know all about the highs and lows.

Good luck to those that have reached EC and Et, wishing you lots of BFP.

Thanks again everyone and fingers crossed

Love

sue e xx

Hi Everyone

I have just received my first appointment for my baseline scan - 23rd. I am quite excited but also nervous. Just now I feel that I have been injecting water into my leg instead of drugs, i don't feel any different, except for tearful, but I am a bit like that anyway! I will soon find out.

On the subject of telling anybody, we chose not to tell any of our families, we have told our best friends, we just didn't want added pressure from our families, just now from both sides we keep getting dropped into conversation, "i just want to be a granny" or "you should think about starting ivf" just like its a walk in the park, so we are telling them we don't want kids, and dh is saving up for a sports car!!!!

Anyway better go my other baby (cat) is crying for something!

Good luck to everyone.

Hi everyone

Hope everyone is well.

Has anyone been given information or spoken to by their clinic to take part in a research study? Apparentley there are 5 clinic's in UK taking part and mine is one of them. I have left all the details on the"uk-ivf multiple embyro use- reviewed" topic on general forum. click on and have a read.

The study is called "Efficacy and cost effectiveness of selective single embryo use" and is beening run by University of Aberdeen.

Anyone else heard of this. ?????

Bye for now

I haven't been on the boards since May...sorry for not being supportive. I was just really bummed when we got our bfn and chose not to talk about things and focus on the future. I am back, because it is much easier to go through all of this with you.

I had a second surgery for my endometriosis Jul-05, and am really hopeful that this next IVF attempt will work. I start my lupron shots tomorrow. Wish me luck :)

It looks like some of you have gotten great news while I've been away. Congrats to all of you who were successful :D
