Advice on acupuncture / hypnotherapy, etc please

Post by alison p »

dear all,

I went in to a Chinese medicine / acupuncture centre yesterday to see if they could recommend acupuncture to help with implantation. He didn't seem that interested in treating me at all, but wanted my husband (ours is a male factor infertility) to go there and take lots of herbal drinks. He also was adament that we should both give up alcohol! (not on your nelly - not at Christmas!). When I told dh he also was not impressed. I think I might speak to my GP and see if they can recommend someone!

Oh well, keep trying!

Alison P

Hi Alison
I would reccommend going to a good herbalist. It's really helped with DH's swimmers ... and if my clock wasn't approaching midnight I would have been attempted to try to a year or two on the pills. Dh didn't mind taking pills either (less new agey and less hassle than other treatments). The herbalist also put some aphrodisiac in which can I say is great fun and useful if things are beginning to become too stressed. She also reccommended as many pumpkin seeds as he could sensibly eat - that wasn't hard either.

Hope this helps,
Charlotte

Dear Charlotte,

Thanks for the advice about the pumpkin seeds - my hubby is always roasting them in the oven and serving them as a snack! I'll let him know about their helpful qualities!! Do you think that squash seeds also do the same thing as we eat more squash than pumpkin!

I think we need some sort of aprhodisiac at the moment. Mind you my mum and dad arrive on Sunday for a week, so that's that for another month!!

Have a nice Christmas,

Alison P

Hi all - just thought I'd let you know that following my pretty unsuccessful chat with an acupunturist a couple of weeks ago today I plucked up the courage to go into the Chinese medicine place on the High St. They gave me an almost immediate free consultation and I really warmed to the bloke (are they doctors?!). He said some bizarre stuff, like my tongue being "too pink!" but also seemed to have a reasonable understanding of the IVF process and what it can and can't do, and was the first person in about 2 years of fertility investigations who took an interest in the fact that af for me lasts best part of a fortnight.

He was keen to start straight away so I walked out with 3 weeks worth of 2 different sorts of pills to help strengthen my "weak kidneys" (I said I couldn't do boiling herbs as I'm off skiing in a fortnight), and I'm going back next Monday for my first session of acupuncture.

So Alison, do persevere and see if you can find someone you feel comfortable with.

With best wishes

Alison x
