FET queries

Post by rouge »

Hi,

I just did my 1st IVF(ICSI) a couple of weeks ago and it was not successful.

I have 6 other embryos frozen, and I was wondering when FET should be carried out? Can we do the FET at the next cycle or do I have to wait? Are there any advantages/disadvantages to doing the FET sooner/later?

Also, 3 Grade 1 embryos were used for the IVF. The remaining frozen ones were Grade 2 or 3. Since the Grade 1 embryos were not successful, are the chances of success even lower with Grades 2/3?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Sorry to hear your last cycle was unsuccessful but great news that you have frozen embryos!

I suggest you pop a message on the General Forum, you'll get alot more response over there and there are lots of people who are doing FET's while I have had no experience with them. Don't think you have to wait too long though!

In terms of the grading of the embryos, some people have Grade 1's and don't get pregnant whilst others have Grade 3 and do. Honestly there is no logic to it at all.

My embies weren't Grade 1 this time yet I got a BFP! Just another mystery!!!!!!

Hi, your clinic will probably make the call on how soon they'll let you try again. There are different types of FET too (explained via the blue scroll down list on the left). It's not uncommon to go straight from one fresh cycle into a frozen - someone in the September buddies just had a -ve but had the OK to proceed today.

Like Joanne said, people have gone into FETs with scepticism re. grades but come out with a +ve, so it can happen :)

Rouge - I think that just because the remaining embryos are of a lesser quality, this doesn't mean there's less of a chance. We've found there's no rhyme nor reason to it ..

Good luck
