How many should I transfer on DAY 5 BLAST??? PLEASE HELP...

Post by hemberson »

Let me give you my quick history so you can give me advice...I am 33 and have 2 dd;s conceived naturally...ages 6 and 4. Very easy pregnancies. Since then, have had multiple ectopics so its looking like only problem is tubal. We are tranferrring tomorrow, which is my first(and only) IVF cycle...we sais after what we have been through and having 2 children, we will attempt this one time. I got 13 eggs and Day 3 11 looked absolutely perfect, no fragmantes, 8 celled, etc so they were taking all to blast for tomorrow. All along we have been saying we will transfer 2. Now I am wondering if perhaps we should just do 1? We are fine with twins, but I do worry about problems with multiples, etc etc and then I hear that often blasts can divide which could possibly mean 3-4 from the 2 we transfer. I know that is probably rare, but hear it happens more than you know. Now that scares me....We clearly desire more children and it scares me to think we wuld do 1 and it not work, but twins or more concern me too...regarding my background, age, having 2 children only having tubal issues, etc...would you do 1 or 2????[/b]

what ever you decide, be sure that you are completly ok with it..... we have transfered 2(5 day blastos) every single time... and only one has ever took.... i think that it is really rare for them to split into even more, but your right it does happen.... we will transfer 2 (5 day blastos) our next time around also....

good luck, and peace to you!!

Hi Hemberson. Welcome to the Site. I understand from my clinic that around 25% of IVF pregnancies result in twins. I don't know what the rate is for triplets, but obviously much, much lower. I would think that the majority of the women at my clinic have 2 embies replaced. I would go with 2, too.

Good luck with your ET tomorrow, whatever you decide !

If you let us know your test date, we can add your name to the Aug Test thread.
