My god Sandra, you really are a saint! Few people would go to so much trouble for a feral cat. I am glad to hear that he is doing so well and that he has been reunited with his brother. I also wouldn't worry too much about the bird, wild cats generally don't kill for fun, only for what they need. I am sure that for every bird they kill they are killing 4 or 5 rodents, which can only be a good thing.
Thank you also Gail, Monket is already starting to get back to his old self. He has the appetite of a horse....has eaten his dinner in its entirety (very odd as he is a grazer) and has eaten half a bowl of dry food also....what a pig!! He is currently living in the ground floor of the linen closet as this is the place that he went to when he was injured so we thought he must feel safe there....it is also somewhere where we can isolate him from the happenings of the household which will allow him some much needed R&R.
Thanks ladies, I really do feel much better about the whole situation now...my pets are my world and I hadn't realised how stressed I really was. Thanks to you guys I will get some sleep tonight (as will Monket because I won't be annoying him every 5 minutes).
Have a great weekend....and have I said thankyou yet!!
Cheers

Ay Heather ... I've only done what any animal lover would have done - it's Smokey who's been the strong one. Glad Monket's had his grub and taken some refuge downstairs. He must be behind with his kip ? - I don't know - with all these goings on, how's a lad supposed to get his beauty sleep ?

Monket is fine....just like you told me he would be. He is getting about ok and even tackles about 14 stairs when he needs to powder his nose. He refuses to use the litter tray, which is ok as he only stays outside long enough to do the deed then comes hobbling straight back inside. He passed his weekly check up yesterday and will have the plaster redone after 3 weeks. It is amazing how much the pet dynamics in the house have changed.....our other cat Bump (Wombat's twin) is spending so much more time with us and is even sleeping on the couch which is something he has never done. Monket generally follows him about and leaps on him at every opportunity and he is just relishing the fact that Monket can't move too quickly at the moment.
I understand what you mean about the whole birthday thing. I hate them and have started to have a major meltdown at the thought of the next one..eek. I do hope you had a lovely day though and that you managed to do something a bit special to mark the day.
Hope you have a great week....only 5 and a bit days until the weekend!
Cheers

That's great news Heather .. (and I do like your style re the w/ends !)
It's amazing just how adaptable they can be .. and when something happens - accident, operation etc - it's strange to watch how the others react around them. All being well hel'll be back to his old self before you know it.
I was speaking with an ex-boyfriend this afternoon who has just taken a kitten in, that was about to be drowned. Another success story !

oh my my...so there's a secret cat club on here is there? pretending to be talking about girly problems but chatting about kittens up trees and other soppy stuff instead ......LOLOLOLOL! My mum got 3 new kittens last week(Jensen, Jasper (my suggestion) and Jessie). I'm surrounded by feline-lovers!
Seriously, Heather great news about next week. You can come and join the 40+ thread. We're lovely!
Sorry ladies, I have confused you.....my eek wasn't a typo it was a scream. I will not be celebrating (?) THAT birthday until October....so a few more weeks to go. Thanks for the invite though Debra, the 40+ thread is alive and well at the moment and seems to produce a lot of positive results....that will be the upside of turning 40.
I haven't planned anything for my birthday yet Sandra, and DH is under strict instructions not to tell anyone.....I really do have issues!! Once I no longer break out in a sweat at the thought of it, I am thinking about going to Paris or New York (I have never been to either) to mark the occasion. I will have to wait and see how long it takes me to get out of the funk!
Great news about all the kittens....nobody can resist those tiny balls of fluff.
Cheers

Both would be amazing places to visit for your birthday. My personal recommendation would be do NY now as it would be much trickier to do later with a child.
I prepared for turning 40 by saying it out loud whenever possible. Doing it WAY in advance so that it wasn't so scary when the actual day came. As it was I didn't celebrate (m/c week before) but it didn't make an iota of difference. 40 isn't a bad place to be at all!!
hugs
Debra.

Well, I decided you were right and posted a couple shots of mine. Afterall, we went through all that hard work creating that darned wedding, may as well spread some of the photos around.
