Hi all,
Kim,
why should you think there'll be a problem?just be positive.. your baby'll be just fine..its so easy to tell others not to worry- right??Anyway, just thought I'd give you some pma.. :)
My internal was fine..no scan today- next scan at 17 weeks- a doppler scan- wonder what thats done for??
So long 3 weeks to go..I asked my doc today, what if theers something wrong with the baby, she said, by worrying abt it, you're not going to help it any, so just leave things be..
I guess practical words from a woman who sees hundreds of pg women everyday, but hard to implement!
Anyway, thank you all for being around..

I forgot..
There was a post awhile back on one of us having headaches..was it Mil? Idont know.. Just want to know if anyone has any idea why they're triggered, and how you bear the pain if you have found out..
I'm getting the most awful headaches daily for the past 5-6 days- my doc said it could be tension, but I'm not sure.. maybe subconsciously I'm tense abt this pregnancy..But then all of us are, right? And they just started this week..sometimes last thru the night and I cant sleep properly-
They increase into a banging at the temples and some days like yesterday, I didnt have one..
Sorry for going on.., but wanted to know if anyone has them..

I know we are all good at giving advice to others but not good at taking it ourselves sometimes! That woman sounds a bit insensitive though, how she spoke to you! I think im just worrying because ive not had any scans/tests since my 8.5 week scan so dont know how things are. I didnt have the triple test because I didnt want to be in the position Tyler's in now, but with having no tests/examinations etc no-ones checked im still pregnant or that everythings ok. Apart from my expanding abdomen, nausea and now what I think are the baby's movements (feeling flutterings right now actually!) which all reassures me!
Take care

Just to let you know the Doppler is so you can hear the baby's heartbeat. It'll be a very special moment for you :D

Just wanted to wish you all loads of PMA and love.

Kim

I can't believe you haven't had a scan since 8.5 weeks, but feel reassured knowing that you are getting your pregnancy bump and starting to feel those flutterings - I guess even if you can't see him/her - he/she wants you to know that it's all ok :D

Big hugs to you all and take care of yourselves as well as your bumps

Tyler -
Sorry to hear that you are worrying, but your odds seem somewhat high and the test is only 80% accurate as I am told by my doc. I decided to pass on the test since it has too much of a margin of error. Hoping that you realize all is more than likely fine and you can continue to enjoy your pregnancy going forward.

K-
Just started to get some funny fluttering feelings in my belly. Rest assured that all is well with you and best of luck on your upcoming scan.

I have a OBGYN visit next week and then we will schedule a scan. From what I heard the 18-week scan is pretty thorough.

I am hoping for the best for all of us!

Hi everyone

Smita - Did your headaches go? I found some info on them in some of my pregnancy books. They say that headaches in pregnancy are commonly caused by hormonal changes, but also fatigue, tension, stress and hunger. Make sure you get plenty of rest and eat regularly. (Sounds like great advice!! Any excuse to rest and eat!) You can also try facial massage, hot water compress (I personally would use cold compress for a headache myself!).
Meditation and neck exercises are also adv for tension headaches by an Alternative pregnancy handbook I have.
As an Aromatherapist, I would advise clients normally to use cold compresses with lavender and peppermint essential oils for headaches, BUT I would avoid peppermint totally in pregnancy and be careful with lavender until past 4 months, avoiding altogether if any risk of miscarriage.
I know that dehydration can commonly cause headaches anyway, so drinking plenty of water might help. Hope some of this helps if you suffer again!

Sher - Arent the fluttery feelings weird? Ive been getting them every day this week now. At first it felt like an insect crawling!!

Hope everyone else is ok

Thanks Kim for all your help and advice..
Thankfully, no headache today.. I didnt sleep too well last night, but i guess thats the norm with all of us..
Eating and resting is all I do, and I try to drink abt 3 litres of water at least daily as my doc said to..
I dont know if I'm tense soemwhere inside, I know I'm missing dh like crazy.. its so lonely at times, and especially cause I miss his pampering..
But perhaps also cause one of my friends miscarried her baby late in her pregnancy(she had an ivf too) and was traumatised,it weighs on my mind as to whether \i'll have to go thru it as well..
I know we're all different bodies, but, sometimes logic just doesnt work..
anyway, thanks for listening..
Hope you all are ok..
Tyler, I dont know much abt the odds etc as I'm unfamiliar with the tests you all are talking abt.. but i want to offer you my support and say that I'll keep everything crossed for you for a lovely healthy child...
Have a nice weekend all- well its almost friday!! :D

I hope you don't mind me picking your brains here - I was told to try peppermint tea to conquer my nausea. I haven't had any for a few days as the nausea has tended to be a lot better recently, but was concerned when I saw your advice not to use it  :?

Thanks

Hi Little P

Dont worry, I was meaning essential oils. (Im also very cautious in the use of essential oils in pregnancy-some aromatherapists/books say its safe to use oils like peppermint). Teas are different. Not an expert on herbal stuff, so know as much as anyone else on them from what Ive read! One of my pregnancy books says since the effect of herbs in pregnancy has not been well researched, its advisable to exercise caution in the use of them. However, another book ive got, The Alternative pregnancy handbook mentions sipping peppermint tea during a bout of nausea! From what some of my pregnancy books say water appears to be the only thing safe or healthy to drink!! You cant win!
Take care

Hi Ladies!

My husband had to leave town for work, so I was deposited with my dad, who doesn't have the best internet access, so have just been catching up with everyone.

Smita- I just got my first internal last week, which basically consisted of the doc prodding around on my cervix with his hand. Must say, not so pleasant.

I completely understand what you are all going through with these tests- even though I have had good results, I get panicky when I hear of someone's numbers that are so much better. I have decided no more, especially since the blood tests are so unreliable with multiples. I'm going in for my 19 week ultrasound next week anyway.

I have also been having horrible headaches, but they respond to a couple of tylenol and a cup of coffee- the doc says that is okay and preferable to letting myself get disabled.

Sher and Kim- I have been feeling flutters since 13.5 weeks (maybe because 2). At first I thought it was some sort of diarrhea coming on! Everyone really gets going after spicy food.

By the way, has anyone else developed horrible acne? Better yet, has anyone solved this problem?

Hi everyone,
Got another headache now..I think its caffeine withdrawal symptoms cause I've always been dependent on my cuppa..Going to have a cup in the evening so that I can sleep at night..
And is it bad to sleep over your stomach? not exactly over the tummy, but kind of over it.. thats the only way I manage to get some sleep at night.. Iasked my doc and she said it was ok, though lateral was best..
Julie,
Don't have acne, but skin wich is normally good other than the odd zit at af time, has broken out in a lot of places..I poke the zits  which are a little big, cause i cant stand to see my face like this!I know I shouldn;t andit'll leave marks , but..
Anyway,
Hope you all are doing well today!
Its a lovely sunny day here! :D

Hi all
Lil p - I've drunk peppermint tea all thru my pregnancies, and was advised to by clinic so I think its OK
Julie - I had bad acne all thru til 13 weeks then my skin went clear and now its better than I've ever seen it. They say that if your looks and complexion get worse in pregnancy it means you are having a girl as a girl steals its beautiful looks from its mum!
I called into my hospital today as I live across the road and they have a pregnancy drop in centre where you just go to ask questions or hear the heart beat. So I went and heard bubs heart for the first time, I also got referred to a maternity physio as I am getting excrutiating back pain all the time and can barely walk some evenings.
I feel so good at the mo its just a pity I have this scan thing hanging over my head and ruining things.
Have any of you girls in the UK seen the malteser ad where the baby kicks the malteser off its mums tummy? Well my DH and my best friend have both bought me some maltesers already coz they both want to see it really happen. Bubs hasnt kept still all day today so I think they are in with a good chance of seeing it happen in a few weeks!
Smita - I used to get bad headaches in the first tri and I took paracetamol and slept as soon as I felt them coming. It worked for me, but hopefully you'll get rid of them soon.
Anyway have a good weekend all

Hi Susie,
you sound positive, which is good for everyone guess..am keeping everything crossed for your little one..hearing the heartbeat would have been lovely.. I'm waiting for that in my next scan which is on sept 9th.

Ok another question, but its a TMI one.. but I have to ask..
Anyone having whitish discharge daily? I've been having brown spotting from the beginning which has come down now to abt 2 times a week, but today I noticed white discharge and got a little worked up abt whether it could be the water bag breaking or something..Its not much, but its there..
Any clues anyone.. Shd I be at the hosp instead of at my comp??I called them , they said to come in if it was lots, which i dont think it is.. :?
OK, I'll stop now..
Hope you all are having a lovely sunny weekend! :)

Hi everyone thanks for all your words of encouragment I feel a lot better now even though we have 20 week scan next week which I am getting a little nervous about.
I had terrible headaches between week 14 and 17 so I had 2 treatments of accupuncture in a week and a indian scalp massage and they have gone,I have been having accupuncture since treatment about once every 6 weeks and its been really good, but if I push things ie not drinking or eating enough I still get headaches but not as severe.
I have been using wheatgerm oil with a few drops of lavender in the bottle so it is pretty diluted do you think it is alright.
