I hope nobody minds me popping over to this side. For those who I haven't spoken to before we have managed to get pregnant without treatment despite numerous problems with both of us. We are delighted.
However, I could really use some advice about sickness. I have nausea and vomiting which comes and goes all day long. I have tried eating as soon as I get up, ginger biscuits, trying small amounts often and have even got travel sickness bands for my wrists. Nothing seems to work. I wonder If anyone has any other tips, I will try anything.

Hi Olivia - Cheryl here - glad you found us and of course no-one minds! I'm afraid I'm not really suffering from sickness but as you've tried everything else why not acupuncture? I have it regularly and its been great - after years of tablets, sprays, drops etc for hayfever I had a completely drug free, symptom free Summer this year thanks to acupuncture - it's also helped hugely with pregnancy. I'll give you the name of my practitioner Paula McPhail (07904365041) who specialises in Acupuncture in pregnancy she can probably fit you in if you're willing to travel to Rugby or might be able to suggest someone who works out of Coventry. She really is great and it doesn't hurt - I'm terrified of needles but it's honestly fine. Glad you're here - come and chat on the first trimester friends too,

Congratulations on your natural pregnancy, its wonderful news! Of course you should be posting over here, you are pregnant and although it happened naturally, you have been through infertility/treatment like everyone else on here.
As far as nausea/sickness goes Im afraid Im probably not much help. I have had nausea all along, but only been sick once. I tend to find that its mainly when my stomach is empty and I need to eat. I do know some of the women on here have suffered from it quite bad. Minnow has been quite bad with it all along, so hopefully if she logs on she might be able to help. I am a big fan of acupuncture, so I would probably agree with Cheryl as far as that goes! You could try looking on earlier posts on the first tri thread or even 2nd tri thread for some more tips, of course this is if you feel up to scrolling through.
I hope you feel better soon.
Take care
Love Kim

Have you talked to your doctor? During my last pregnancy I was quite sick and was perscribed a perscription to help with the nausea. It comes in both tablet and suppository form(if you just can't keep anything down the suppository is a blessing!) The name of the drug in the US is phenegrin (not sure on the spelling) and I am sure that there are generic forms out there. It is a pretty old drug and has been widely used during pregnancy so it is safe for baby too! Phenegrin (I know I have butchered the spelling!) makes you drowsy so if I wasn't too sick I would take half a tablet to sorta cut back on the nausea feeling.
Some of my girlfriends swear by Dramamine and B6 vitamins. Dramamine(again not sure on the spelling) is a over the counter drug which is used for travel sickness (sea sickness). I've not tried it but most of my friends use it during pregnancy.
Olivia- Congrats on your pregnancy! I can totally empathize with you. I was so sick for soooo long that I accused my husband of hiding some terminal illness diagnosis from me- it just seemed impossible that I could not be dying.
Here is what worked for me: 1) Sea-Bands (which I see didn't touch it for you- I was still nauseous, but could kind of function), 2) Pedialite pops, which are frozen pops for children with electrolytes (don't know if you have these where you are, but there must be something like that)- these would give me about 10 minutes of relief, so that I could eat something, which really helped, 3) weak peppermint tea. If you start getting nausea that seems really linked to headaches, try Tylenol with a small cup of coffee- doc says okay and it is a miracle cure.
I never thought it would go away, but it did at about 16 weeks. By the way, don't know if others agree, but if that old wives tale about it being worse with girls gets mentioned, I can tell you that I am walking evidence of that, as I am carrying twin girls!
2 failed IUIs (Nov and Dec 2004)
1st IVF failed (April 2005)
2nd IVF BFP+ Twins! (May 2005)
I tried everything too - most things made me fel worse - including ginger biscuits/tea/cake etc. In the end the one thing that settled mystomach was dry crackers. i just nibbleed my way through them during the day.......................
You will be pleased to know that it does go away - even though it feels like it wont ever!!
Good luck with the pregnancy - enjoy it cos it flies by!
love and kisses
