Hi you guys!
Sue ... so happy to hear that the twins are both head down! Sounds like they're getting ready. I can't remember if you're having a scheduled C section or if you were going to try a vaginal birth? If it is a c-section let us know the date =) I know what you mean about getting comfy at night (I'm sure you're far worse off than me though --- with twins and all). My hips start to get sore after a couple hours in bed, then I turn, then turn again. Since turning over is a major ordeal these days DH is bound to wake up every time. If I'm being too obnoxious, then I get up and sleep on the sofa for a while. He never complains, but I just end up feeling really bad.

Wendy ... you're getting close! Only a couple more weeks (c section on the 30th right?!) until you get to meet Thomas! Hope you're feeling as best as possible.

I'm doing fine. Can't remember if I shared our name with you all. If not, we finally decided on Hannah Bryce. I was thrilled to find out the other day that she's head down finally. No one could really tell by feeling since my fibroid is so large. It sits on top of my uterus, so when my doctor measures me he's always confused for a moment. My true measurement (as of Friday) is 36 1/2 if you remember to measure below the fibroid. If you include it I'm at 39 1/2. Sort of funny. It sticks out pretty far too. Sometimes when the baby moves it will move from one side to the other, or stick out more. Strange stuff. Luckily it doesn't hurt, and it didn't cause any kind of pre-term labor. Dr. did say last week that if I go into labor any time after Thursday of this week they won't try and stop me. At that point I'll be at 37 weeks, and the baby will be considered "term". I personally hope she stays put until 38 or 39 weeks. Would just like a little more meat on her bones =)

Well ... hope everyone is doing well and taking care. Look forward to seeing any updates =)

Love,
Kelly

Hi Kelly,

How are you? Any news as yet?!! I cant believe we are getting to the stage where its finally gonna happen :D . I am hoping for a vaginal birth if possible, I have had soo much surgery I would like to avoid more if I can. My consultant thinks we are looking good for that so far, he just said as to when is in the lap of the gods! I am really hoping that they stay put past 34wks. I have another scan 2 wks Mon, so i guess I will know more then. If I do have to have a C section he has said that he will use my laparotomy scar again, so at least I wont end up with another to add to the collection!
Will they let you go much past your due date? And whats the latest on the moving situation?
My hips are still hurting, some nights more than others, but I do find that swimming seems to help( still managing 3 x a week). You should see the faces of the lifeguards when I waddle in the pool. I am sure they think I am in for a water birth
I know I must look big as nearly everyone I come into contact with looks at my belly and says 'long to go?' Sometimes I feel like saying til the end of October actually, but I think they may faint. So I end up explaining its twins and that its more than likely to be end of Sep. When i saw the midwife last week she said I measured 6 wks ahead, so I guess I must be around 37wks now, although I havent gained any weight for the last 3 wks :? Oh well as long as they are still growing.
Good luck to you Wendy, will think of you on the 30th, and I wonder if Edi has had her baby yet, and if so what it was.
Take Care
Sue xxxxx
PS Kelly, forgot to say!! Thats a lovely name you have chosen....we still cant decide

Hey Sue!
I can't believe we're in the home stretch either! Good to hear that your doc seems to think a vaginal birth might work. I know with twins c-sections are common, but it definitely helps that they are both head down. Hopefully they'll stay there! If not, it's good that they plan to use the same incision for your c-section.

It's great that you're swimming. That will feel even better in the coming weeks =) I've stopped going to my prenatal exercise class. With the impending move, getting ready for the baby, and getting our condo ready ... I just haven't had the energy. We live right in downtown Denver, so I do quite a bit of walking as it is.

I'm 38 weeks, so Hannah may come at any time. If you asked me if I was ready 2 weeks ago I'd say "no way". But that's definitely changed now. I feel as ready as I'm going to be. We have a make shift nursery set up in our office, which will work out perfectly until we move. Hospital bags are packed and ready. Unfortunately I'm getting zero signals from Hannah. She hasn't dropped (not getting that "she's going to fall out" sensation that everyone talks about), no sudden burst of energy, no contractions or cramping. I have a feeling we may be in for the long haul. I have a doctors appt on Friday, and I think he wants to do an ultrasound again to check her approx. weight and to make sure she's head down. If all looks good, then I hope he tries stripping the membranes. If he doesn't I'm going to start walking even more next week (if her weight seems okay and all).

As for how long will they let me go? I know I have appts. set up to 40 weeks. I think they start talking about induction around 41-42 weeks, depending on her size and condition. After 40 weeks they'll do the stress test to make sure her heart rate hasn't changed. Your placenta peaks at 38 weeks and then starts to diminsh after that. So nutrients to the baby decrease. That's why they like to see a delivery between 38-40 wks. They didn't schedule anything after 40 weeks as to not depress me =) Very kind.

I'm rather large now (almost freakishly). It looks like all belly. People keep asking if I have 2 in there. I did go for maternity photos last week. I wanted to capture the pregnancy somehow ... especially if this ends up being my only one. The photos turned out great. I definitely recommend it if you're thinking about doing something like that. I've been fortunate to have a wonderfully smooth pregnancy, and would just like a way to remember it by.

Well, sorry this is so long!

Wendy ... I hope you're hanging in there! Not too much longer before you, hubby and Benjamin get to meet baby Thomas.

Sue ... looking forward to hearing about your expanding tummy in the next month. Crossing my fingers for your twinnies to reach the 34 wk. mark (at least =)

Lots of love,
Kelly

Hiya, sorry again not to of been on for ages again. Had my final check yesterday and am booked in for the 30th. I go in to hospital on the monday evening and baby Thomas is due to see the bright lights of the theatre a few minutes after 08.30. After saying he'd be about 3kg (6.5lb) the drs now saying hes more likely to be 3.6kg - closer to 8lbs - hes put on a lot of weight in the last 2wks, so i'm happy about that as he'll be 2wks early. Definately ready - i'm so tired and sleeping is agony - like you guys, my hips are killing me. Peeing at least 5 times a night too - I'm fairly sure i'll get more sleep when he arrives - I did with Benjamin !! Am I the first then ? Its so exciting to be soooo close, can't wait to see what he looks like - will post a photo as soon as I can. I'll be in hospital for 6 days though - i'll try to get chris to remember to post you the news.
fingers crossed girls..... and good luck to all xxxxxxxxxxx

Alright Wendy! You are the first =) We'll be thinking of you on the 30th. Sounds like Thomas is going to be a healthy, BIG, baby boy for being 2 weeks early! You must be thrilled. Can't wait to see the pics. Please take care of yourself and enjoy the longer stay at the hospital. Try to get some extra ZZZZ's while there!

Lots of love,

Hi Ladies.
Well ... I guess I ended up being the first. My water broke at 2:00 am on Saturday the 27th. We went to the hospital at around 4am and I was 3 cm dilated and 90% efaced. I was in labor until 2:30 pm later Saturday afternoon. Started pushing around that time and had Hannah Bryce at 3:45 pm. She's absolutely beautiful, healthy, and big! We just love her to pieces. For being 2 weeks early, she weighed in at 8 lbs. 10.8 oz. She was 21 inches long. Unfortunately her clavical (shoulder bone) broke during the delivery due to her size, but otherwise she's healthy =) We're thrilled and a bit tired ... but loving every minute. Thank goodness for epidurals!!! And thank goodness she was early, otherwise she may have weighed over 10 lbs. I had a small tear that required a couple stitches, but that's it. The swelling is subsiding slowly, and I feel much better today. I'll post our website with photos this week.

Good luck to you Wendy ... you're next! Sue I'll be looking for you and Edi too.

Love,
Kelly, Jason & Hannah

Hi Girls,

WOW!! Congratulations Kelly and Jason, and welcome to Hannah!! What a big girl she was! Thats fantastic news, and I guess little Thomas has arrived too by now! Its soo exciting. Will little Hannahs shoulder just mend itself? :( Bless her. Cant wait to see the photos.
Cant believe my time is not too far away now. They have been soo active the last few days I am sure they are getting fed up with being squashed!! Midwife tomorrow so hopefully she can tell me what the lastest is, I think left 'dot' (twin 1) has moved down in last few days as my bump has def changed shape :?
Look forward to hearing from you soon as to how motherhood is?!
Lots of love and congratulations again!

Hi girls.
Wendy ... waiting to hear all about Thomas!

Sue ... let us know what the doc said. Funny you mentioned that it's almost like the twins are getting fed-up with being squashed. That's exactly what I thought with Hannah the last week. She was super active and pushing on my cervix constantly. It was just different than her normal routine. Maybe you're not far off from meeting them =)

A couple of you asked about her shoulder. I guess it's a pretty common occurance with larger babies. Apparently they used to "tape" or "pin" it so that the arm was immobilized. Then they found that it healed just as quickly without doing so, while making life easier for mom and baby. They said it will heal naturally in 3 weeks or less. I didn't quite believe this myself, but I've noticed in the past couple days that she's moving the arm much more. They felt it at the doctor's on Friday, and apparently it's not as "crunchy". I don't think it caused her much pain, but they did prescribe infant tylenol if I thought she was bothered by it. All-in-all I try to avoid moving it much, and allow her to do so when she feels. Seems to be working.

Well ... I'm off to bath and dress her. Feel free to check out her pictures on our website ... http://homepage.mac.com/p_pod/Menu39.html

Again, Wendy and Sue, looking forward to hearing about your big day. Smita and LittleP, enjoy the second trimester. Everything gets larger and slows down in the 3rd =)

Love ya,
Kelly

Hi Kelly

Your photos are lovely, she is soo cute, you must be very proud. I had a peep at your new house ones too!! Wow it looks fab. When do you move in? And how is Motherhood?! Glad to hear her little shoulder will heal by itself.
As for me.....
I went for a scan yesterday at 33 + 5, and was told that both twins are slightly larger than they would expect a single baby to be at the same stage. Twin 1 is 5lb 6 and Twin 2 5lb 9  That was fine, and as we waited to see my consultant we said to each other that they would probably have me in around 36wks to induce. Imagine my horror when the consultant said that they would leave me til 39wks!! If they carry on gaining at the same rate they will be approx 8lb+. I am praying that I will go into labour of my own accord prior to that but I must admit I am now feeling far more worried. We both read Gaby Logans(she is a celeb over here who just had twins) tale of loosing 7pts of blood after as her womb failed to contract as it had been overstretched and I am fearing similar things. My consultant is very jovial and a little off hand and I don't know how to get him to be serious.
I have had a trouble free pregnancy so I guess thats why he is leaving me, but I am soo uncomfortable, and am sporting a 49in waist. I can handle another 3 wks, and I know that they need to stay in as long as poss, but the thought of another 5....... I see him again in 2 wks time. Walking, sleeping and getting in the car are becoming increasingly difficult.
He also said that they dont like inducing twins as they find it difficult to monitor them?!
So do a little labour dance for me if you can! I am carrying getting on for 12lb of baby so dancing isnt an option! 2 weeks today will be just perfect!

Love Sue xxxx

Sue

OMG - I shall keep everything crossed that you get to see your twins earlier than the suggested induction day.

Hope you are feeling ok and getting plenty of rest. It's wonderful to know that the twins are healthy though isn't it?

Take care

Sue,
Your sacan sounds reassuring regarding the size of the babies..
I hope you start labour in 2 weeks as you want instead of waiting to be induced at 39 weeks

Good Luck!Almost there..
