HM- So sorry to hear about the need for the procedure. The only thing I can tell you is not to worry about the procedure itself in terms of discomfort and pain. My sister-in-law had to reduce triplets, as she has an incompetent cervix that scared everyone, and she said the actual procedure is not bad at all. I know that doesn't improve the emotional part, though, and my heart goes out to you.

Glad to see the rest of you seem to be holding in there just fine. I had a crappy week- doc said I had bacterial vaginosis and prescribed antibiotic cream, which I had a horrible reaction to, then other antibiotics, which I also reacted to and now I have a yucky yeast infection. Lovely.

Went for the 19 week ultrasound. All looks good, except one of the girls has a little calcium deposit in her heart. Could be a Down's soft sign, but all other things (nuchal and other measurements) are negative, so I'm trying to ignore the whole thing and am not going to get an amnio.

Julie

You take care and keep that positive thinking up - if the Nuchal scan was negative for downs I would keep believing in that.

Big hugs

Well the update on my lower pains. . .

The doctor thinks I have a bladder infection which is quite common I'm told. I had a urine test yesterday and it is at the lab. In the meantime, he has me on antibiotics for the next seven days. The lower abdominal pain heightened yesterday evening and today I am feeling a little better. From what I read, I could end up getting this again - ugh. I was hoping it was ligament pain, but no such luck. If any of you girls experience this, it is best being caught early on to avoid a kidney infection that may hurt you and the baby.

HM - Best of luck to you tomorrow. We will all be thinking of you.

I am still in regular clothes, but busting at the seams. I have to say that I enjoy the healthy glow and my skin never looked better.

Sher

Sorry you are having to go through this - I hope that things can be cleared up quickly now for you.

Have you felt any movement yet?

Glad to hear you're glowing otherwise.

Take care and big hugs

Hi everyone

Wow! I cant believe how busy this thread is at the moment! Its taken me ages to read through all the posts. Its good to see so many people here!

Welcome to Jessica (Jamato), Esther and HM! Great to have you all here.

HM - Im so sorry for what you are going through. All the best for tommorrow. I will be thinking of you.

Julie - All the other signs sound good for your baby, so hopefully all should be ok. There's always something they give us to worry about.

Sher - I hope you feel better soon. I was just going to say that I have worried about the ligament pains, because they can be quite painful, when I read your update. Im glad they are treating you now. Have you tried cranberry juice? Ive found it great for urinary infections in the past.

Smita - Im glad your scan went ok. 5 litres of water though (!?) you'll never be off the toilet!! Good to hear DH is coming home soon. Hope the time goes quickly for you.

Christine - I think Im suffering from sciatic problems on my left side. Ive started having pain in my lower back when I lie on my back and the other night I could hardly walk after lying down, it was so painful around my left hip. My leg kept giving way when I tried to walk. I was ok the next day. My mum said it sounded like sciatica because shes had the same. I felt like an old woman!!

Susie - Good luck with your scan tommorrow! Thanks for your reassurrance re mine, im trying to be postive, but I am a worrier anyway!
Your little one sounds very active compared to mine! I sometimes think I feel it, but Im then not sure. Still getting nausea though, so that makes me feel a bit better(!?).

Little P - My scan is on friday and I do want to find out what it is. DH wasnt sure, but I think he's coming round to the idea. It will probably be in the wrong position so they wont be able to tell us anyway! Its great to be able to wear maternity clothes isnt it? I keep wishing I was bigger so I showed more. (Remind me of what Ive just said when Im moaning because Im the size of a house!).

Take care, everyone

Kim,

Best of luck with your scan on Friday. I am looking forward to hearing about it. I have one on Sept. 9. This is the scan that they take all the measurements. Sounds really neat.

Little P,

I have felt some random movement in my belly and know that this is not gas. Baby is starting to let me know that he or she is there. :D No kicking as of yet, but that can be between 20-24 weeks I believe.

Take care all.

Kim

I think you and I will both need reminding of relishing these bumps

I do have a habit now of making sure that everyone sees my bump - I'm so proud I want the world to notice it

Sher

I hope you enjoy the movements and I can't wait to hear all about the kicking!!

Hugs to all

Welcome to all the newbies. I cant believe how busy it is now.

K - I have sciatica also and have been referred to maternity physio. Mention it to your midwife when you go on friday and she may refer you. I have been given a special belt that holds my bump up to take most of the weight.
Christine - I bet your excited to soon be moving onto the 3rd tri. I cant wait to get that far.
Smita - Glad the scan went OK, I wouldnt worry too much about the water its a common problem.
Sher - The little flutters are lovely arent they I've felt them since about 12 weeks but still not feeling proper kicks.
Little P - Its good getting attention and having people ask about our bumps. We deserve extra attention after all we've been thru. My friend used to moan that people thought they had the right to touch your tummy just coz your pg, but I have to say I like it when the little old dears come over and start talking.
HM - Good luck for tomorrow I'll be thinking of you.

Anyway 19 1/2 hours til my scan. I pray bubs is healthy. I'm gonna find out the sex too, but after all I've been thru I have no preference as to the sex I just pray it will be a healthy baby.
I'll let you all know tomorrow evening how I got on with my scan.

Susie

PS. Does anyone know when the 3rd tri starts, Is it 26 weeks?

Just a quick question:

Did anyone have a few days of stretching pains, then a couple of days without - it's just that my pains that I was getting have stopped over the last 2 days and now I'm beginning to get all those worries back - does this anxiety ever go? :?

Thanks for any help

Hi all,
It IS busy here these days- but I like it like that!
Hi Little P,
I've had those pains on and off as well.. have so far put it down to growing phases!

New worry is I looked up the internet on what happens in the case of low amnio fluid and I got more reasons to get panicked!
I'm now waiting for the sept 9th doppler where i hope they'll tell me my 5 litres a day has helped!
Have drunk lots of water, and am perpectually sitting inside the loo as a direct result!
Well, anything for a healthy baby- I hope to God none of what I read happens to me or any of us!
Susie,
good luck again with the scan.Do post.So have you told dd yet?
Kim,
another sleep to go till you're reassured.
Hugs,
smita

For some reason I am exhausted today - no strength to do a thing, I think I might rest this afternoon.

How's everything else doing?

We've finally managed to book a holiday :D - can't wait to get away and just relax. Actually I can't wait to wear maternity clothes abroad :D

Big hugs

Hi all,
Susie,
Hope the scan went well.
Kim,
wishing you luck for tomorrow.
HM,
Hope everything was ok and you are resting now.
LittleP,
where and when are you off to on Holiday?
Have fun!
dh will be here for a week, I'm hoping my doctor will allow me to travel somewhere nearby..
problem is, the roads in the scenic parts of India are full of potholes, so I'm not sure I'll be allowed to travel by road..
Anyway, I'll catch you all tomorrow.
Cheers,

Hi everyone

Gen & Gavin-welcome to the 2nd tri thread. What a relief! Wonderful news re your amnio. Sometimes these tests cause more worry than reasurrance dont they, when they estimate the probability of something.

Susie - Thanks for info re sciatica. I will mention this to my midwife when I see her. Looking forward to hearing all about your scan.

Little P - Ive also had the same re ligament pain. Mainly pains on one side, low down. (My R side was so painful at one point, I was slightly worried I had appendicitis!). Ive not really had any pains for a few days like you.(something else to worry obout!!). It's weird when the exhaustion hits you isnt it? Its better now for me, but in the first trimester I just had to sleep. Unfortunately I used to feel worse for it when I woke up! When/where are you going away? I bet you cant wait!

Smita - You know sometimes I would just like to avoid books/internet sites/antenatal tests-all of it! Although sometimes you can be reassured by what you read/hear theres so many scare stories that cause us no end of worry during our pregnancies. I spent last night in a foul mood (hormones) bit DH's head off (Haha not literally-wouldnt be surprised my mood last night  ) I then went to bed early, in tears, convincing myself that the baby had died because I couldnt exactly recall any movements yesterday. Woke up this morning, was very sick and while Im typing this can feel reassurring tickles and prods in my tummy. I so want this scan to be over with. I cant believe ive got into such a state!
How are you coping with the 5 litres of water? At least your skin will be glowing and healthy! Ill wish time away until the 9th Sept for you (and till your DH comes home as well of course!)

Sher - It's lovely feeling the baby's movements isnt it? Strange but a fantastic feeling.

HM - Thinking of you today and hoping all goes ok for you.

Has anyone else been having weird dreams? Ive had some very bizare ones. (Unfortunatley though, cannot really remember them now....I also find in the middle of a conversation I forget what Im talking about!)

Take care everyone

Thanks for the reassurance re the pains - I guess that worrying will be with me all the way .....

I'm off at the end of the month to Marbella and we can't wait. Going to hit the high life with the celebs

Gen & Gav - congratulations on the results, what a wonderful relief for you both.

HM - I hope that today has gone ok - remember we're here for you when you're ready.

Smita, Kim, Sher, Susie (and anyone else) hope you are all ok - it's a hotty today, not quite as warm as yesterday, but certainly hot enough 8)

Love and hugs

Its a healthy baby boy! :D :D :D :D :D :D My consultant said she couldnt see anything wrong at all with bubs and that the 24 week scan will just be a formality. My DD cried when I told her she is so pleased. She has gone around telling everyone she is gonna be a big sister!
The only problem now is my urine has showed up I have something called GBS. Its really common and about 50% of people carry it, it just means that at soon as I go into labour I have to be given IV antibiotics or the baby could catch it and die. Just another thing to worry about. Theres big yellow stickers all over my notes saying 'ALERT STREP B' I feel like an alien, but it least it can be avoided being passed onto baby.
Got to go I've loads of people to phone, but just letting you know all is OK.
Thanks for thinking of me
