Hi Susie

Thats wonderful news! Im so happy for you all.
I have been reading about strep B and was going to ask about been tested for it, just in case. I thought you had to actually have specific tests and pay for them, but they can obviously pick it up on routine tests then.
Thats good news they have picked up on it for you, so at least you can be treated and it wont harm the baby.
I bet you are on cloud 9 at the moment! Enjoy it!
Hopefully catch up with you all tommorrow after my scan :)
Love Kim

Hello girls,

I am actually on the other side doing IVF at the moment. I just had to butt in because I saw GBS mentioned. As you can see below I have a ds. What I wanted to say was that I was not aware that I had GBS and he caught the infection. I am not on here to scare you or anything just to let you know how to test for it in the UK. The NHS tests are not always reliable but there is a gold standard test which is reliable (they use for every pregnant woman in the US). To find out about where to get the info for testing check out - www.gbss.org.uk there is alink on that site that tells you how you can find out if you are a carrier. It is also a very informative site about GBS for you Susie. It also tells you what to look for if you are concerned in labour. Now Susie I know it means drugs in labour you might not have wanted but please take them. I am sorry if I am coming across as bossy or annoying I just don't want anyone else to go through what we had to.

Hope this helps,

AJ

AJ,
I think any perspective on an issue is welcome,so its really nice of you to be helpful..
Little P,
Hope your trip to Marbella is Beautiful!
I'm excited for you!

I was pleading with dh this morning to let me come home (to Bahrain) for 15 days just to be with him, but he doesnt want to talk abt it..he's worried abt problems thatmight come up- so its just India for me now! :(
And my doc wont let me travel inside india as well(Its a BEAUTIFUL country- you all MUST visit if you get the opportunity)so..
I hope I get a healthy baby at the end of this- It'll make every tear and worry worth it and more!

Hows everyone today? Its raining outside- rather gloomy- doesnt add any to my mood..
hugs,

That's fantastic news - I'm so pleased that the scan went well for you - it's like another tick in a box isn't it?

I bet it was amazing the difference between today's scan and the one you had a long time ago - isn't it a real miracle what happens!!

Anyway, don't work too hard - enjoy the day!!

Love and hugs

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't posted been resting a lot....This week started spotting again on wednesday...but only spotting so my dr. says not to worry unless it is bright red or gets heavy....I have a follow up ultra sound next wednesday to see if the chorionic bleeds are resolving themselves...I don't think the anxiety ever goes away and now I worried about incompetant cervix....They say it is the highest cause for miscarriage in the second trimester (I must sound sound soooo paranoid) but I don't want to have to lose my baby to find out I have one....I plan to ask the dr. at my 14 week appt specifically....Sorry for the downers...I am actually upbeat as the spotting hasn't been any more than spotting (nothing like last week)

How do dr.s test for bacterial vaginosis??? Can they just tell or do they have to do a pap??

Little P, I have had pains on and off, they are there then gone....I don't think paranoia will end til I can feel that baby moving then, I will become paranoid about when I don't feel it move....

Anyways, I hope the rest of you ladies are doing well! Talk again soon

Love
Jessica

Good luck with the scan next week - I hope that you get all the reassurances you need.

I know what you mean about anxieties though - there's always something new to think about isn't there?

Take care

Smita,
It was confirmed yesterday that I have a slight bladder infection. They found small traces of bacteria. My main aches and pains are that my ligaments are stretching. The pain has subsided, but I can feel a dull ache on my lower right side and back. I was just thinking yesterday how difficult it would be to have to go through the entire pregancy in that much pain. And then it magically stopped. I had myself worried it was something really bad, but since things have gotten quieter, I am not as worried.

Kim,
Congrats on the baby girl. How cool is that?? It is so exciting finding out the sex of everyone's baby now. It is about that time. Well, as for me, I am going for the surprise and not finding out until delivery. Hope it does not drive me crazy!!

Little P,
Have a great trip. Sounds like a beautiful place. It also sounds like you are taking care of yourself and enjoying life. That is the way to go through pregnancy. It is Labor Day weekend here in the States and the weather is absolutely beautiful where I live. A welcome change to the hot, hot summer. I think a picnic is in order.

HM,
Thinking of you. . .

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Unlike Smita I cannot keep up with everyone's status.

hi girls, it's been an age since I've posted but thanks for wondering where i was... i have been frantically busy and then on holiday for a couple of weeks. i have now just about caught up with where everyone is and am delighted to be able to welcome some others on board to this second trimester. wont be able to send special messages to everyone but just wanted to let HM know i am really thinking of her at this difficult time and i'm sending you massive hugs.

i have also just seen that kim has had her scan today and that it might be a little girl..so glad all looks normal. although i think we have the same due date, my scan isnt for another two weeks which is a real pain. what is it like to see the baby at this stage?? how exciting.

everything is going fine for me pregnancy-wise. believe it or not, at 20 weeks+3 I am still being sick regularly. it's not quite every day, but almost. that, coupled with extreme tiredness means that physically at least, i'm not enjoying this pregnancy at all. my tummy is growing nicely and my uterus is bang on naval level which is what they expect. i havent felt any movements yet, so i am especially jealous of those who have... i cant wait. emotionally of course i am delighted to be having this baby and we are talking about names and making plans daily. at least now i am half way through - hurray!!

my major stress at the moment is that we are moving iin two weeks. we had planned to go to ireland and my husband had resigned. i then began to have doubts about being away from family and friends at this time in our lives, so now we are in the situation of moving in with my parents in two weeks, having sold the house, with my husband without a job.. hardly a great start! we are now loooking at various jobs and locations but it is hard to know what to do for the best. really difficult to not have anywhere definite set up for when the baby is born and at this stage, i dont even know whether i will be giving birth in the hospital in london where i am booked in. i know it will all work out but for the time being it is very difficult....

sorry to drone on... things are just a bit overwhelming at the moment. when this little squidge emerges i so want to be settled!

love to all of you and i will catch up with where you all are over the next few days.

Hi All,
Little P - I'm so jelous I wish it was me going away, but enjoy the time with just you and DH as it will be your last holiday alone for at least 16 years!
K - Congrats on getting a girl and all being well. Its such a relief. I was convinced I was having a girl so was extremely shocked when told it was a boy. We had a defineate girls name decided, but cant stop arguing about boys names. All I like he doesnt and vise versa!
Minnow- welcome back glad your OK
Sher - Glad your feeling a bit better
Jessica - hope your spotting stops soon. Although its a really common problem it must still be worrying
HM - hope you are able to post soon and tell us your OK
Smita - Although its horrible being away from DH at least you know your baby is in the best place
AJ - Thanks for the warning about the drugs, I will defineately be taking them. I had an epidural in my last labour and I will in this one too as I am no good with pain, so a few extra injections will be no problem. I didnt think my hospital tested for GBS routinely so although a little worried I'm also pleased and reassured that they know what they are doing and have my best interests at heart they did a swab with me as I thought I had thrush or bacterial vaginosis and thats how they found the Strep B. After what I have read I would advise you all read the link and get tested. After the amount we've been prodded and poked, one little swab is nothing!

The 20 week scan is great. Baby is so big you can only get a photo from its head to its waist, but on my photo bubs is sucking his thumb and you can see his eyes and nose etc in great detail. The only worry is it takes 20 minutes for the scan lady to do her tests and measurements then she speaks to you and shows you what she has looked at so you worry for the first 20 minutes hoping that all is OK.

My DD cant stop telling me what she is going to buy for her brother she is so pleased

Anyway enough waffle from me. Hope your all OK and relaxing as much as possible!

Sucking his thumb - what a wonderful picture, obviously a very contented baby!!

I can't wait to get away - 3 weeks and counting!!!

Sher - enjoy your celebration w/e - sounds like the weather is going to be kind for you. We're enjoying a "freak" heatwave at the moment, long may it last.

HM - thinking of you and hoping that you are ok. Sending you loads of hugs and love.

Hope everyone is going to have a lovely weekend
