hi Ladies
I am so glad to join you all!
I had my 2nd ivf/icsi Aug 05 and just found out today that my test was positve. I tested 9 days post day 3 transfer and my bets hcg is 18.6.
I am a little worried because it seems to be low compared to many others. Has anyone else had level as low as mine? I test again after a week. Do you feel I should test earlier?
Chtr
Your beta test seems a few days on the early side--I wonder if that accounts for the lower hcg.
My first two beta tests were 48 hours apart--I was told that the hcg level should double or at least multiply by one and a half by the second test. (I also know from reading posts on this site that when that DOESN'T happen you can still have a healthy pregnancy) Will your clinic let you test again sooner--it seems like a simple thing for them to do especially if you're concerned. Or at least they can talk to you about what the numbers mean.
Hi Chitra, Welcometo this side!
Hope you have a healthy and happy pregnancy!
cant help much on the beta, but do feel that you tested early-ish, so that could be one reason.
I think Kim will tell you her numbers were low to begin with but she's at 20weeks now!
Theres also a site on beta numbers- I'll see if I can get the link for you.
take care,
smita

Hi Chitra
Congratulations on your +ve test
Smita's right, my HCG levels were a constant source of worry for me! But mine were slightly low at 52, 13 days after a 2 day ET (Counting ET day as day 1)and 81, 48 hours later. If yours were taken 9 days after ET then as Betty says thats early. The nurse was worried re my readings because she expected 52 to be classed as 'normal' on day 12. Also 48 hrs later the levels are supposed to double or increase by at least 66%. (If you work mine out, they were less than 66%!).
The website I think Smita is refering to is www.betabase.info
Hope your levels put your mind at rest when they are retested, I do think your test was too early and a lot can change in a few days. I did do a home pg test on day 18 which was a strong positive (I got a faint line after doing a test on day 14). I used clearblue pg test though, which only picks up levels above 50, so if I were you I would wait a few days. (Not easy, I know!).
Good luck!
Love Kim

Hi Chitra - congrats on your + - welcome to the site. Can't help on Hcg levels cos my clinic doesn't even use them so I've no idea what mine were / are. Your test does seem very early though so don't worry too much - as everyone says it's all relative and very individual so as long as they are increasing I'm sure you'll be fine (sometimes I think they can fluctuate a bit up and down though) Take care with Clear Blue - I did one of those but only got one line - I was in bits weeping my eyes out. About an hour later I realised that it was posititve because the line was up and down rather than across - I just couldn't see the underneath line so don't worry if you don't get a distinct cross - read it really carefully!
Good luck, Cherylxx

hi
I am sorry for not responding sooner. I visited some of our friends and did not use internet.
Little P, Cheryl, Smitha, Betty - Thank you so much for your input.
Kim - Thanks for sharing your Beta numbers with me. It defenitely gives me reassurance.
I took a hpt on the day of my first beta and got a very faint second line. I used first response early pregnancy test. I am not sure what is the minimum level it is supposed to pick up!!!
I took hpt again today(13 days post ET) and I am still getting a very faint line. I am thinking of calling my clinic tomorrow and see if I can come for the next beta on wednesday.
I will let you know how it goes.

I went for the test yesterday. My beta has dropped so they say it was a chemical pregnancy and I need to stop all the medicatios.
We are devestated. dh and I were crying so much yesterday. It was a terrible night. I feel so angry and frustrated. I dont know what went wrong. We dont have any frozen so we have to start all over again. We have spent alomst $30,000 this year for 2 ivf and my husband's sperm aspiration. My clinic does not give any discount and our insurance does not cover infertility!!!! I think I need a break physically and emotionally for a few months.
Has anyone had a chemical pregnancy? please share your experience.
I need some encouragement so I can try again next year. Thank you all for the support. I wish everyone success!
Chitra
I am so sorry to read your news - big hugs to both you and DH. I know this is not much consolation at the moment, but know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Thanks a lot. I really appreciate all the kind words you all have said to me. thanks to you I am feeling better today. Now it is all like a dream to me. when I get up in the morning I feel so sad like someone in our family had died.
My dh and I have convinced ourselves to give this another try. I have an appointment with my RE in 2 weeks to discuss what went wrong then ask him if we can do this again in 2-3 months. Thanks once again to everyone of you for being so kind and understanding.
