Hi, I wanted to introduce myself with hopes to learn more about why my IVF failed and what I can do for the second attempt to receive positive results. My doctor said that my egg production was low, but we came out with two grade A embryos. However, the IVF was unsuccessful.
Does anyone know what can increase the egg production. Does accupunture truly help?
Hi there Cynthia - Welcome to the Site and glad you decided to post. Sorry you've had the disappointment of a -ve cycle. Get hold of a copy of Zita West's book "Fertility and Conception". It's packed with useful info, and includes a section on assisted conception. A study has indicated that better eggs can be produced by simply taking a daily dose of multivitamins and minerals (make sure it's a prenatal one, that doesn't include Vit A). Obviously, also a healthy diet helps too ..!
There are varied reports on here about acupuncture .. some girls finding it useful, others not so keen. There are a couple of threads on acu on the General forum at the moment. I'll go and find them and bring them back to the top for you.

Im sorry your 1st IVF was unsuccessful.
Just wanted to say that I had accupuncture and do truly believe it helped me get a positive. We have male factor, so I had accupuncture to help make my uterus more receptive to an embryo. As well as weekly treatments leading up to ET, I had treatment before and after ET on the same day. I also found it helped me to relax. As Sand says, some people find it helps and some dont, so this is just my experience. I had also read about research done in Germany and USA which showed that in a trial, accupuncture increased chances of IVF working. Because you have already been through 1 cycle, the doctor's also know how your body responds to treatment, so they can also modify your drugs as necessary.
Also, although I produced 12 eggs, we only had 4 embryos, only 2 of which were suitable for transfer (None to freeze). Although I dont know the grade, Im sure they would have said if they were Grade A. So, if you are getting Grade A embryos (Doesnt matter how many - 1 is enough) then you are in with a chance of been successful.
I wish you all the best for your future treatment, you will get a lot of support here and learn a lot as well, to take into your next cycle.
Good luck!
Love Kim
