IVF After sterilisation

Post by Chrissy »

I was sterilised 10yrs ago, since then I have met someone else and
have been married nearly 3yrs. We would both love the chance to have a baby and im just wondering if it is possible to have IVF using donated eggs. I would be most grateful if anyone has any information for me. Thankyou for reading this

IVF After sterilisation

Hi chrissy.
Being sterilised is no different to having blocked tubes, which is one of the many reasons why a lot of us are having IVF
IVF involves harvesting the eggs at source Ie. from the ovaries.
They are then fertilised and replaced. So, you will be able to use your own eggs if you are still producing them.

Have you considered a reversal?

Good luck

Amanda

IVF After sterilisation

Hello Chrissy

I have blocked fallopian tubes and had to be steralised in order to go ahead with IVF (something about the toxins that blocked tubes can emit killing off an embryo), so you're probably in a good position to start with for IVF!

As for using donar eggs, I agree with Amanda, there would be no need to use donar eggs unless you are unable to produce eggs yourself - it has nothing to do with your tubes being sealed, but if this is not possible for you, you can use donar eggs and even donar sperm if your hubbies sperm has problems.

Also, if there are no medical problem with your bits (apart from having been sterlised) your chances for success are much better most (depending on your age of course).

Good luck

Sarah

hi chrissy
i too was sterilised 6 years ago. and we are hoping to start treatment at the end of january.i have just turned 40 and dh is 34,
according to our consultant we stand a pretty good chance of it working, but i am beginning to wonder whether thats because we are willing to part with two and half thousand pound !!!!
as the other girls have said, there is normally no need for donor eggs
to be used after a sterilisation, as you will still be producing an egg every month.
all for now
san_mart
