Xmas Cycle Buddies

Post by ella »

Hi everyone,
I thought I'd just leave you a message to wish you all Happy Christmas?
I hope the sniffing and injections are going OK and the side effects are not too bad. I'm still getting mood swings and I also get waves of nausea, but these soon pass.
Have any of you got pre-stim scans booked yet? Mine is on Jan 6th, and luckily DH is still off work then so can come with me. We also have to learn how to do the menagon injections, but I'm trying not to think about that at the moment.
Well I'll have to go, I've got baking to do. Anyone fancy a mince pie?
Take Care
Ella

Hi again Ella

Happy Christmas to you too (or as happy as it can be with the injections and mood swings and nausea hey?!).

As you know, I go for my pre-stim scan on 3rd - just before you and will also be on Menogon. They're not too bad (honest!) if your hubby 'stabs' the needle in rather than trying to do it too carefully. Just bend over and grit your teeth and then have a good scream at him... LOL.

Where are you from and where are you being treated?
We're from near Scunthorpe and going to St James, Leeds for treatment.

Anyway, good luck and write soon,
Luv Rachel X

PS Yes please, I'd love a mince pie.

Hi Ella

Wow, can't believe you're going to St James' and you're from N Lincs (where abouts?).

Yes, I have had the hot flushes, but not many this time as yet. Last time, I got them quite often mainly in the night. My main symptoms this time are bad moods and feeling sick.

Hey, maybe we'll have an appointment on the same day sometime - we'll have to compare appointment dates and then we can say hello in the waiting room!

Keep posting and enjoy those Christmas jabs!

Luv Rachel X

Hi Rachel,

I haven't fallen off the edge of the world, I've just been poorly. I had that sickness bug over Christmas which knocked me for six, I'm feeling much better now, and I'm getting nervous about starting the menagon.

I hope your scan went well, I've been thinking about you all day, I expect you can't wait to start the next lot of jabs either!

Anyway, keep in touch and good luck,

love

Ella
Hi Ella,

Great to hear from you, sorry you've been poorly. At least you've got it out the way before e/c week!

Been for scan today and I'm not ready for the stimulation jabs yet - womb lining hasn't thinned down although ovaries are inactive, so have to double my dose of buserelin to 100 units and go back next Friday. So it was a bit disappointing but not the end of the world!

Anyway, good luck for Monday - let me know how you get on.

Luv Rachel X

PS Where in North Lincs do you live?

Hi Rachel
I'm sorry to hear you have do another week of down reg, we IVF girls certainly need heaps of patience! What is the given reason for your infertility? Mine is Endometriosis, and DH has a slighly lower sperm count than he should. I was told that with Endo they put you on a higher dose of Buserelin as the endo makes it more difficult to down reg, something to do with your own natural chemicals. I'm no scientist though, it all sounds gobbly gook to me!
Anyway, I live in near Brigg, where are you from?
I think this IVF lark has just hit DH, he was just going along with it, but last night admitted to be scared about it all, to be honest I was quite relieved, I thought I'd married a Robot!
Well I'll have to go and get some lunch,
Take Care
Love Ella
Hi Ella and Rachel
Ella good luck for tomorrow and Rachel hope all goes well on Friday.
Ella I had never heard of endo being more difficult to down regulate. I have endo and have been sniffing Synarel for 2 weeks now, I don't go for my scan until the 22 Jan then if all is well I start injections with Menopur, dose of 150iu. EC the3rd Feb (hopefully). Why would endo affect down reg? because of the lining do you think? Don't worry about the injections, I've had Gonal F before, where I had to mix them, it sounds worse than it is, and I am the biggest wimp!! My worry this time is I have to inject into my stomach, last time it was my leg.Where do you have to inject into?

Keep in touch
Love Lisa

Hi Girls

Just having a quick browse before bed.
Lisa we got the same dates - I started sniffing on the 1st and due for my down reg scan on the 22nd. This is our 3rd ICSI. I've got endo too but I don't think it's ever effected the down reg. The last 3 times I've had a bit of pain a day or 2 after ET (felt very PMTish) but the doc said it could be the drugs reacting with the endo?? I wasn't convinced but if I get them this time I'm just going to try and ignore them - positive mental attitude and all that...

Ella and Rachel best of luck - will be thinking of you and looking out for your postings. And the injections definitely sound worse than they are.

Nigthy night
Jen xx

Hi Everyone

Well I've had the pre-stim scan, and I too have to go back(next Wednesday)as my lining is still too thick(about 6.5mm and it has to be less than 5mm). I wonder if Buserelin is less effestive at reducing the lining, or is it just us North Lincs lasses! They also said my ovaries looked a bit poly-cystic, which was a bit of a shock and another thing to add to my reasons for infertility list!

Anyway other than that I feel OK, just very tired, going to Leeds each time takes a lot out of me.

Hello Jen and Lisa, do you think the doctors really have any more idea than we do, I'm beginning to wonder, sometimes it sounds like guess work!

Good luck to you all, and I'll be thinking of you, Rachel, when you have your scan on Friday, lets hope you have better news then.

Take Care

love Ella

Hi Ella

God, can't believe we live within about 10 miles of each other! We live in Messingham - do you know it? Whereabouts near Brigg are you? I know what you mean about the treck over to Leeds each time - it's a full day out isn't it?!

When do you have to go back - is it this Wednesday or 15th? Last time the buserelin thinned me down in 3 1/2 weeks so don't know what's happening this time, but fingers crossed and all that! Hey at least you're down to 6.5mm - I was 12mm! I don't know if it's cos of the double dose but I've felt sick and had the worst headache ever today (nice this treatment isn't it? LOL).

Hello Lisa & Jen - don't worry about the injections in the tummy Lisa - they're not as bad as you'd think as long as you stab the needle in quick! Good luck to you both & keep posting!

Luv Rachel X

Hi Rachel,

Yes, I know where Messingham is, we live in Broughton, so we are fairly close.

I have to go back on the 15th, DH isn't coming though, my parents are taking me! I dont drive(yet)but am taking lessons at the moment.

Yesterday we had our teach injection for the Menagon, I couldn't stop laughing, poor DH was terrified of sticking the needle in. I've got used to the needles though, and the only thing that gets me now is the anticpation just before it goes in, after that it's not so bad.

As for headaches, I've had them too, I'm not sure if they're caused by the medication or whether it's stress, just try to relax and rub your temples if you can bear it. I've had to resort to painkillers a few times, but I hate pumping loads of drugs into me, especially at the moment.

Take Care and happy stabbing,

love Ella
