Playing the waiting game

Post by Cla »

Thanks AJ - new to this site so not sure best places to post everything! I've cut and paste by message on the general one now!

Hi there! first round of IVF for us - had the transfer on Fri 26th Aug. The whole process throughout has been relatively smooth with no major probs. Got 9 eggs from collection and managed to fertilise all 9! Put 2 grade 1s back so was feeling rather elated and positive. However started bleeding this am which has pulled us back down to earth. Don't have our test until this friday. Realistically guys - is this a sign that it hasn't worked. Reading all our paperwork it says not to panic if you start bleeding as it doesn't necessarily mean a -ve but in reality?!!! Are we kidding ourselves?

Hi Cla and welcome to the board. I guess there are no hard and fast rules as far as bleeding goes. Some people bleed and still manage a positive, others do not. I have had two IVF cycles and have started to bleed both times prior to testing. Both times I knew that it didn't work and didn't feel any need to test. I guess we all know our own bodies so you would have a better idea of whether the bleeding resembles AF or not. My advice would be to call your clinic and see if you can test early. That will allow you some peace of mind. I don't mean to sound harsh, just trying to be practical.

Congrats on the great number of eggs and the excellent fertilisation rate. 100%...can't do better than that.

I hope your test results give you a nice surprise. Good luck and take care.
