Hi, have been reading this forum for a while now and decided to register today as have just had my 3rd ivf cycle and tested -ive again yesturday! so am a bit low at the moment. Have at least got some frozen embies this time though(5) which we've never had before due to not producing many eggs each time as my ovaries we're damage through chemotherapy when i was younger, which meant that our 1st cycle produced 4 eggs of which 2 fertilised but no pregnancy, our 2nd cycle i only produced 2 eggs and both of them fertilised and that time i had a biochemical pregnancy reading that decreased on the 2nd blood test so was -ive again. For our 3rd cycle we've used donor eggs and 7eggs fertilised, 2 were transfered and 5 frozen and the long wait began but unfortunately it was a -ive again, have not given up yet though! have already made another appointment to talk about FET. Does anyone know how long you have to wait inbetween transfers?

Hi Lucy, sorry to hear your news. Your history sounds very similar to mine in that I also have had 3 –ves, so I can totally empathise with you. We had ICSI each time due to male factor. First cycle I had a biochemical pregnancy like you (good HCG levels on first blood test followed by a m/c), followed by two –ve cycles. I’m a good responder (last cycle 25 eggs) and always have blastos transferred, so it’s very frustrating to continually fail. I tested +ve for natural killer cells (which causes m/c or failure to implant) after the 2nd cycle so took steroids and aspirin last time round but still no joy. I have 7 frozen blastocysts but won’t consider an FET until I’ve had my follow-up consultation to rule out any other possible cause for the failure. I’ve read about something called hydrosalpinx which can cause toxic (to embies) fluid to flow into the uterus and I’ll be asking my consultant about this. It may well be that I am just very unlucky, but after 3 privately funded attempts I feel like I want every test done to rule things out.
As to when – well my clinic always insist on 3 clear cycles (not including the AF that comes after a –ve result) before starting again, to ensure all the drugs are out of your system. I know that some clinics say that you can start again after one cycle. Personally I like the down-time to rid myself of the drugs and refresh my body and mind before starting again. I took this 3rd –ve very badly and need a break, so DH and I are taking a decent length holiday in November and, if things are OK, plan to do a hopefully natural FET in December.
Lucy,
I'm sorry you had to go through all this pain..
I can't help on anything except to say, that you're in the right place for answers and support..
The ladies on this forum are lovely.
Hope you have a successful FET soon! Lots ofgirls have had Positives with FETs, so hang in there.

I'm so sorry about your recent results - hope you are holding up ok.
As to how long to leave it - from what I have been told if you are doing a full treatment, then most hospitals prefer you to leave 3 full AFs between cycles, however I have been told that when doing FET because it is less intrusive (drug wise) they don't usually require the same length of time.
Have a word with your hospital and see what they recommend - most important of all, make sure you and your body are ready.
Good luck with everything and here's to a positive outcome for you.
Hi Lucy....Like you, I just had my 3rd -ve. Luckily, I have 9 frosties left. My doctor said that I can go right into another FET cycle, but DH and I have decided to wait until October so we can let our checkbook "recover". I always feel really down the day the clinic calls with the BFN results, but I'm eager to try again!! Stay positive....it will happen!!!!

Thanks for making me feel so welcome everyone! It's nice to talk to people who are going or have been through the same treatment. All my family and friends are supportive but they don't know what it's like to go through ivf and the emotional ups and downs, they only see it from the outside. Will be seeing my consultant at the end of this month so will find out when FET will be then.
I only found this place a week and a half ago and its already my second home! I just ran out of friends to talk to since they are all pregnant so this is such a supportive place to come.
I haven't got as far as IVF yet but I do understand how it feels when those around you don't understand what you are going through. Its really tough. I wish I could help you with what you are going through.
I just read the Zita West book and I'm going to read it again as I felt quite positive afterwards. It has also made me look at my diet etc. I'm hoping her tips will help. She has lots of info on IVF in this book.
The people on this site recommended it to me and I wish I had known about it sooner. Its only about £15,if you haven't already got this, its worth buying.

Im also from Huddersfield, so just wanted to say hi!
This site has been a great support to me, so I hope you also feel as welcome and at home as I have. Im sorry to hear about your failed cycles. Are you under Calderdale? Just wanted to send you lots of PMA if you are because if you have read their recent stats their FET % success was the same as for their ICSI last time, so fingers crossed it works for you next cycle!
Take care
