It was a chemical pregnancy

Post by chitra »

I went for the test yesterday. My beta has dropped so they say it was a chemical pregnancy and I need to stop all the medicatios. :(
We are devestated. dh and I were crying so much yesterday. It was a terrible night. I feel so angry and frustrated. I dont know what went wrong. We dont have any frozen so we have to start all over again. We have spent alomst $30,000 this year for 2 ivf and my husband's sperm aspiration. My clinic does not give any discount and our insurance does not cover infertility!!!! I think I need a break physically and emotionally for a few months.
Has anyone had a chemical pregnancy? please share your experience.
I need some encouragement so I can try again next year.
Thank you all for the support. I wish everyone success!

Chitra,
I'm so so so very sorry :(
Can feel your pain from here. Wish I could hug you in person..
Sending you and your dh hugs.
Just want to ask, since you're originally from India(I presume), is there no chance you can come here for treatment?
I'm asking because the quality of treatment is very good not to mention the costs will be considerably lower if you are paying for all of it.
Sending you positive thoughts..
You will be a wonderful mother one day.. your time WILL come.

hugs and love,
smita

Oh no, I've gone all cold. I HATE the crap that tmt sometimes brings. The highs are unbelievable but the lows are so, so low. I'm sorry this has happened. No wonder you and DH are so upset, of course you are and the sorrow is essential right now.

I tested +ve last year after a FET but then started bleeding within a week, I tested again and the beta had dropped, by the 3rd test it was back to normal. It was all over.

These short pregnancies hurt like hell and the positive side might be hard to see but there is one. You did it, it worked, you responded to the meds, there were eggs to collect, they fertilised and at least one implanted successfully. Those are all major steps forward. I don't expect you to see it yet but we'll be ready to support you through your next go. A break is probably essential, it all gets too much, like many I understand needing to get away from it all for while.

I hope you and DH can take some time to get over your disappointment.
hugs
Debra.

Hi Chitra - sorry to hear your news. Unfortunately this happened to me last Dec on my first cycle so I know just how you feel. I started bleeding the day before my test date and was shocked when I tested +ve with an HPT, but I never let myself belief for a moment I was pg so I guess I was more prepared for bad news. After my first beta test showed good levels, I then had the most incredible pains so I knew I had had a m/c . My 2nd beta 4 days later had dropped back down so it was all over.

Other than the fact you will need a break emotionally, after any sort of pregnancy (even short-lived ones like ours) it is recommended you take a longer break. After my m/c in December I didn't start again until March.

I'm a fairly pragmatic, not to say negative person, which is my self-defence system. Didn't stop me feeling awful though, so give yourself time.

Take care of yourself,
Nicola

Chitra - I am so, so sorry to read your post. I'm sure you both need a break from all of this. You need to regain your strength and emotions before embarking on another journey. I've haven't been in your position, so can only imagine what hell you're both going through. My thoughts are with you ..
