insemination after ivf cycle???

Hi, I recently had a bad ivf cycle.. (overstimulation for fresh cycle, and then none of my frozen ones made it threw the thaw ) Im a little hesitant to do another cycle.. My doctor suggested that we maybe try insemination, even though this was not the original plan because my hubby has a low % of normal sperm.. As far as we know they move ok and the count is good but only a small % are normal... I dont know if its worth a try.. Does anyone have any stories like mine, or any advice 4 me?? Did anyone have success with IUI with low sperm rates? Any advice would be appreciated.. Lots of luck to all!!!

Sorry but Ive not had success. had 2 goes with donor sperm.

Thanks for ur reply... sorry no success yet.. We r going to try my husbands sperm 1st for a couple of cycles, and if it doesnt work I was thinking about using donor sperm also.. instead of doing ivf again.. i dont think i can do ivf again.. How is insemination ? Does it hurt? Did u use follistim? With donor sperm do they try to match it up with ur husbands features? Im still not sure how my husband feels about it..

NO it doesn't hurt at all, the first time, i was scared, just fear of the un known but 2nd go I was so full of pma and found it so easy I was sure it would work but alais it didn't. life is hard, but i hope u find success soon. x x

whats follistim? dont know what that is.....

Whats wrong with ur dh's sperm? My dh has azoospermia....

Hi thanks for the encouragement... Follistim is a fertility drug used to produce many eggs, it has a slight better pregnancy rate then clomid. Did u use clomid? Foolistim is the drug also used in ivf.. My husbands sperm is normal except he has a low morphology rate. That is some of the sperm are not a normal shape.. Ever hear of this before? my doctor says we should try 3-4 cycles of iui, so i guess that is what im going to do. Yesterday was my 1st shot. I think it takes about 2 weeks for the eggs to develop.. Is this right?? Thanks for ur help Nikki

We did our iui on natural cycle...... No drugs as I am ok. We've been given 3 goes of iui, had 2 and so far no luck..

What day of your cycle are you on? I think you usually take drugs around day 3,4,5 ish.... When r u booked in for the scan?

Hi Nikki I was on the 4th day of my cycle when i started the drugs.. I just started yesterday with that..I have to give blood every 4 days and get a sono also.. I think i should get the iui in about 2 weeks? Does that sound right? thats good that u can use ur natural cycle, did they ever tell u to use a drug, maybe that would have a higher success rate? Just wanted to give you some words of encouragement on IUI with low sperm morphology.

We didn't have a very good experience with our first IVF (resulted in ectopic) so we decided to do IUI next instead.

My husbands sperm results sound like your husbands. My DH had a good count & good swimmers but there was a low percentage of normally formed sperm. Anyway, IUI worked for us or our 2nd go. After they've done whatever they do with the sperm (clean it up or something) I think the chances are much better.

We now have a beautiful 5 month old boy.

It kind of feels like you are taking a backward step when your go from IVF to IUI, but I say give it a chance, you never know.
