I also went through the ICSI treatment twice!! Understand that the Dr's sometimes need to see how you react to one protocol of meds to decide which one is best for your treatment...Hang in there you came to the right place for support

hi davidson
i had icsi in july and im now pregnant first time....i didnt even know about it untill doc came to tell us we couldnt go thru normal ivf because my hubby had a low sperm count and they thought icsi was the best the to do.
im sure if everyone had the choice they would all do icsi and all should be given the chance i cant understand why everything possible isnt done to help childless couples.
i had to go private and id of been livid if id of gone thru normal ivf and then them say ohhh lets try icsi now
when they told us and the extra cost i didnt even hear them the £560 could of been £5 grand for all i cared my answer still would of been yes do it.
i know of a girl who i grew up with and i havnt seen in years her mum came to see my mum with a 2 year old grandaughter she explained that lyndsey (the friend id not seen in ages) had tried ivf 15 times and paid every time and on the last go they tried icsi and .poooofffff .. a lovely little girl..unfortunatly her marrage didnt last but he continued to supply the sperm as they stayed great friends and now both share a lovely miricle
so if anyone asked me about icsi id say gooooo for it
good luck hun let us know how u get on
x x x x~~~jacs~~~x x x x

I too got pregnant in July with ICSI (our third go). I was amazed by the whole process and actually 'enjoyed'!! it - sounds bizarre but after years of childlessness it felt fantastic to be doiing something positive about it. It took us 3 times (the first two treatments drugs weren't quite strong enough for me but third time I had mild OHSS so its a careful balancing act) but I would have kept goiing if it had taken 7/8 times. Don't be worried if it doesn't happen straight away - just keep believing - Good luck, Good luck - I'll be rooting for you,

Third ICSI July 2005 BFP and praying it continues!! 6, 8, 12, 13(Nuchal) 20, 25 and 28 week scans successful! Emily Ann Cane born 8.4.06 - more beautiful than we could have imagined

Hi Davidson

ICSI has worked for us, first time, so I hope you are also lucky! We had half IVF/half ICSI (long story!) and none of our IVF fertilised. We got 4 embryos from ICSI, so if this technique wasnt available I wouldnt be pregnant now. We are very thankful.
Good luck with your treatment!
Love Kim

Davidson - I'm sure you have a fantastic chance of it working first time - I feel in a minority over here because a lot of people were successful first time - didn't mean to alarm you. Just wanted you to know that if it didn't - it wasn't necessarily the end of the road - some people get really despondent if something as powerful as ICSI doesn't work first time but there's no need - there's always a strong chance it will work the more treatments you have. I really really hope you are successful first time and will join us on first trimester thread soon,

I know exactly what you mean - I became unbearably jealous and emotional at other peoples 'easy' pregnancies but you shouldn't feel guilty - it's all part of what we have to learn to cope with. Other peple can be incredibly insensitive even when they know your situation but its becase they just can't feel what we feel. There are some huge benefits though - none of my friends have ever had to test their or their partners commitment to a family - it just happened without thinking. For people like us though, we can live with a fantastic knowledge that we and our partners truly want our babies and would do anything to have a family together - I think that gives your relationship such a special bond and is a little pay back for the emotional pain we suffer!
Can't wait to hear your good news - keep positive and keep believing (and check the dos and don'ts thread on general forum just for a bit of extra practical support). Keep us updated with your progress,
Cherylxx
