Just registered today. Not quite sure where to start.
Have been involved in fertility treatment for the last 6 1/2 years.
Firstly because my husband had been married before (has 2 children) and had a vasectomy. Had 2 reversals - 1st some sperm present then nothing on next check up. 2nd unsuccessful. After laparoscopy discovered one of my tubes was blocked. Then started on natural DI treatment. Became pregnant on 2nd attempt. This resulted in ectopic pregnancy at 6 weeks. Blocked tube was removed at this time. 5 more attempts at DI all unsuccesful. Had IVF treatment in Dec 04. Poor response initially to puregon. Considered abandoning cycle but went ahead and managed to produce 5 eggs 4 of which fertilised. Treatment was unsuccesful. Could not afford any more IVF as all treatments had been self funding. Tried superovulated DI using menopur in March 05 and became pregnant. Miscarried at 8 weeks. 2 further attempts at this both unsuccesful. Cannot afford any more treatment. Advised not eligible for any funding because of husband's family and vasectomy. Would be interested in egg sharing but am prob 2 old at 37. (Was never offered egg share as treatment through LGI and they do not provide this facility). Would appreciate any suggestions as where to go from here as I really cannot come to terms with not having my own children. Feeling very low at the moment. Sorry to burden everybody else with my problems.
Hey Lizzie - Welcome to the Site. It sounds like you've been through so much already. I, too, recently thought about egg share, only to find out the age limit is 35.
Don't worry about burdening anyone here ... that's what this site is here for. I hope you find it supportive. I'm sorry to hear you're not eligible for NHS treatment. It's so unfair how they allocate it.
I'm sorry Lizzie - I don't have any answers - but want you to know you're not alone.

Thanks Sand and Terri2 for the kind words. It has only been 3 weeks since negative result and feeling confused, depressed and useless.
Been advised that people in my area have received free ivf treatment although they already have children. Not really sure how correct this is but somebody is trying to find out for me.
As i said previously was never advised about egg sharing before as this would have been a road i would have gone down. Giving me the chance to try (maybe more than once) for my own baby and also giving somebody else the chance of having what they desire so much. When i started ivf i asked nurses about the possibility of donating eggs if i produced enough but the hospital did not use this facility because of the emotional side of things, i.e. if your treatment did not work would you be thinking about whether donated eggs had worked.
Don't know if there are any exceptions to the age criteria of 35 but would be very grateful if somebody could advise.
Obviously money plays a great part in any future decisions as at this point we cannot fund another cycle at an approx cost of £4000 because of higher dose of puregon than before. 150 used last time next time would need to be 300.
Hi Lizzie - Just a thought regarding the puregon...I too did not respond very well to my 1.IVF...produced 6 follies, lost 3 to ovulating early, 2 already fertilized (?), so therefore ended up with only 1 egg for fertilization. After the follow-up consultation with my doc - I asked him if we should increase the puregon and he said absolutely not...what happened was my LH was under pressure to go up during the stimming process therefore fighting against the FSH to produce follicles/eggs and reason for low amount.
For my next go, we have doubled the downregging (Synarela) to totally shut down the LH so the FSH can do what it needs to do without fighting another hormone. Can you check with your clinic about your hormone levels before you start doubling the puregon?
Will maybe speak to the clinic if I can ever afford another cycle of IVF.
Thanks for the advice but at my review appointment they did say that they would use maximum dosage of puregon and to take aspirin for 2 weeks after had eggs had been put back in. They advised that research shows that aspirin may stop eggs from dying etc.
