Hi there.... not too sure where to go because I tested postive on the 10th Sept naturally. I was due to start IVF this month and I feel at home here. Today has scared me, yesterday I was spotting brownish colour, not much and it stopped in the evening. Today when I woke and went to the loo and wiped myself there was quite a bit of old blood and then at 09:30 this morning it was red but stopped all morning until now and it's red again, does this mean it is going to go horribly worng. They can't scan me until the 29th September and have said to keep an eye on things. Sorry for the graphic details but I was just wondering if any of your went through the same and went on to continue your pregancy. I judst don't know who to turn to ........ Kyla
Im sorry you are having to go through this worry. I cant help myself, im afraid as I havent experienced this, but I have read of other women that have had 'spotting' and their pregnancies have continued. Smita, I know has been through this, so she can probably give you some advice.
Can your clinic not help you? I know its probably too early to do a scan, but can they not do a blood test to monitor your HCG levels?
Look after yourself. I hope all is ok.
Love kim

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this - as Kim says Smita, and a couple of other girls, did have spotting and they are still pregnant and everything is going well.
I'm sure they will give you some reassurance when they log on.
Can your clinic not do another HCG test (as Kim says), or if they can't what about talking to your GP and letting him/her know what you are going through and ask if there is anything they can do to put your mind at ease.
I hope that you get some encouraging and reassuring news soon.
Kyla,
I'm one of those who spotted until I reached my second tri..
I hope to God that your spotting is old blood..
What bothers me about your post is that you say the blood was red as well- I was told to go rumming to the clinic the moment the spotting turned red.. so as Little P and Kim suggest, please insist on a beta HCG for your peace of mind.
Will keep you in my prayers..
Please let us know what happened.
Wishing you the very best
hugs,
smita

I'm another person who has just had spotting. (I am only 6wks 2days). I had brown discharge and twice a small amount of pink blood over 3 days. I just had a scan and everything was okay - my doctor said it was very normal & common to experience some bleeding in early pregnancy. However I agree with everyone else - I think it would definately be best to speak to your GP (if you haven't started at your clinic). That's what they are there for. I really hope everything works out for the best. Vicky

Kyla - my clinic and GP told me to go to gynae dept of local hosp if any concerns or bleeding at all - even A and E if you're really worrying. I was told that I wouldn't be laughed at because everyone takes (what they called 'precious pregnancies') very seriously and it was always better to be safe than sorry. I know its too soon to see heart beat etc but I'm sure they could scan you just to rule out any other issues / infections etc. Hassle whoever you want - you've waited a long time for this so if you want a scan then demand it (or cry - that usually works too!)
Goodluck and keep faith,
Cherylxx

I too have had spotting and bleeding...but it happened with me a little later....at 8-9 weeks I had brown spotting which was believed to be implantation bleeding or a broken capillari....At 11 weeks I woke up with heavy red bleeding which rushed me to the ER and turned out to be two chorionic bleeds....At 12 weeks I started spotting pink and brown and have been for the last two weeks but dr.'s believe that this in my chorionic bleeds resolving themselves...In any case baby is fine and I am 14 weeks today! However I was always told if it was birght red (fresh blood) or any heavier than spotting to call the Dr. immediately or head to the ER....Good Luck, I hope it is just implantation bleeding!!!

you can get a vaginal 6 week scan from the hospital, to check the embryo is in the correct place and has a sac etc. Although the heartbeat doesn't show up till 7-8 wks ( i think)., I had scans at 6 wks, 7 wks and 8 weeks.
i had an early scan because of bleeding. If you have severe nausea/ morning sickness, abdominal pains and/or a sore shoulder tip, it could be like mine and unfortunatley an ectopic.
But as the girls say it could be many things. It would be best to check it out. If your have not been referred yet go and see your GP. Mine managed to get a same day scan appointment which put my mind at rest knowing what was going on.
Hi there.... many thanks for taking the time to reply back to my message. I have called the hospital and because I am no longer directly under them there is nothing they can do so I have to stay with my Doctor. Not sure what's going on but yesterday was mainly brown mucusy stuff and I had about a teaspoon of red blood yesterday morning. Again is stopped all evening and during the night and when I woke this morning I wiped myself and it was brown mucusy, nothing since. The hospital did say it could be a number of things and it is quite common the bleed at early stages, and if it's brown mucusy it's nothing to worry about but if it's fresh red blood and passing lots then go to A&E. I have no stomach pains or cramps, I feel sick and my boobs still hurt - so I am praying everyday that this is still a viable pregnancy. The Doctor told me to keep doing HPT's to see if I was still pregnant, so tonight on my way home from work I will buy some and start testing again but my only fear is now how viable will the HPT be ? because surely it's going to still pick up my hormone levels even if there is something wrong ? Does the worrying never end. Take care gilrs and thank you so much for listening to me..... I will keep you update!. Kyla
Do take care of yourself - if you are worried, then go to A&E. After everything you have gone through to get to this point you deserve that extra bit of TLC when you need it.
I'm keeping everything crossed for you, but will say that if it remains brown then certainly from everything I have been told, and have read, this signifies old blood and is normally nothing to worry about. A slight red/pink discharge has happened to several girls who have either gone on to deliver a healthy baby, or are currently pregnant.
Take care and remember we're here if you need anything.
Hi there..... Just thought I would give you an update - unfortunately the pregnancy was ectopic and I had surgery last Wednesday to remove it. They have removed my right tube I still have the left one. I have called my IVF clinic and explained to them what happened and they sound even more positive than before because it proved I do produce eggs (FSH 12) and my husbands sperm can fertilise the eggs on their own....... I have to wait two clear period cycles and then I can start but with Xmas just round the corner and the hospital have a shut off date of the 10th DEcember so it looks like I will be starting IVF in January, New Year with a new start!... Many thanks for taking the time to reply and I wish you all happy pregnancies I will be back in the New Year ..... Best wishes Kyla
Really sorry to hear your bad news. I hope you are able to take time off work. I hate it when people try to point out good things when bad things happen but that really does sound good - what your hospital have said and that is so true. Half the battle is getting the eggs to fertilise so fingers crossed you will be pregnant by February. Take Care and a;though it's very early have a relaxing Christmas! Vicky
