Hi Michelle

I posted this under 'Feeling Better', but thought I should post it for you as it is!

I have been told to wait for 3 cycles before starting again - but would like to start as soon as we can. We have moved to another Health Authority and they offer 2 cycles on the NHS - so we could have one more free go. But it means starting from scratch, and so will probably take longer. Our other option is to stay where we are in London (Hammersmith hospital) and pay ourselves. I think this is the more positive thing to do, but the costs are huge! And we now live on the SW copast - so getting there and back is a whole different story! Last time we lived in Hammersmith.

I had an ERPC (Evacuation) on the 2nd Jan - for which I was knocked out and felt nothing. I only had a really small amount of bleeding afterwards and no pain. However, now I have a full blown AF- which I can't understand as I thought they had taken everything out. I also, and this is really horrible, have leaking boobs - I thought I would tell you as I was totally unprepared for this and it has been very upsetting.

I hope everything goes well for your D&C and I am pleased you are feeling more positive. I just want to try again and hope beyond hope that next time will be our time.

Maybe we will be cycle buddies?! I know next time if I get a positive result, DH and I will not be making plans until a lot later!
I wish you all the luck in the world for the next few weeks.

Take care

Tina

Hi Tina
Thanks so much for your reply. 3 cycles seems like forever, especially as the treatment is so long. Lucky you at least you have one period almost out of the way. I was told that once I have the Evacuation I could have a period anywhere between 2-6 weeks, so you are lucky that you have got yours so quickly. I have PCOS so am often delayed waiting for af....plus they say our bodies are all over the place with all the drugs!
So funny that you mention about the leaking boobs (I had no idea about this - are yours still leaking now?). I'm pretty sure that I will leak too - as usual I was late for work today and took an age deciding what to wear - I went to put on 2 different shirts which I often wear to find I can hardly get them over my boobies, at a squeeze I could have done but doubt that the buttons would still be there now! I'm a 34DD normally so wonder what I am now! DH loves them even more (if possible) and keeps trying to touch them - but I keep pushing him away as they are so sensitive - is that too much info?
Re. hospitals, if you do decide to go with the NHS you may not have to start from scratch as the Hammersmith hospital could send on your notes - and hopefully they don't have too long a waiting list and have to do all the exploratory tests again. Worth asking before you spend all that money and spend half your live travelling to Hammersmith.
Tina, it would be so great if we are cycle buddies. Was this your first attempt at IVF (was my first - have been ttc for 3 years)?
Love, Michelle xxx
Hi Michelle

Thanks for replying - it's really nice to 'talk' to you!

Well, my AF is the worst I've ever had - and didn't expect it so soon. But the positive is that it cuts down the wait to start again. How about you, will you start soon as you can? Where are you having treatment?

My boobs are still leaking, but getting less. Not nice. But they are much bigger than normal, so DH is very keen - but not able to touch as too sore! And not very keen to touch at the moment!!

This was our first try - ICSI. We have been TTC for 5 years, but not really seriously until last couple of years - hence seeking help finally this year. We are not married but have been together for ever, and this whole thing has bought us even closer which is the only upside I can see.

I would love to be cycle buddies - am hopefully starting March. How about you?

Take care

Love Tina

Hi Tina
I'm so sorry that your af is so horrible - at least as you say that is one down 2 to go! We are Guys in London and they have said that we can start again after 2 cycles....but I can't say when that is as my periods are usually all over the place as I have PCOS. However, in the meantime we will try naturally - you never know there were a few Christmas Miracles! I hope, like you, I get af shortly after the ERPC.
I know what you mean about getting closer with your partner - dh has been such a support and we are the closest we have ever been, and that is saying something as we are close anyway.
Like you I will be 9 weeks when they do the Evacuation so my boobies may leak too. Hope not though as it sounds horrible - do you just put tisues in your bra? Poor you I'm so sorry that has happened - it just seems so unfair (like this whole business).
The whole IVF process takes around 9 weeks from start to finish - with a bit of luck I may join you March time but only time will tell.
How long does the ICSI process take?
Would love to cycle together.
Love, Michelle x
Hi Michelle

PCOS sounds horrible - I am afraid I am a little ignorant of these things. It must be particluraly hard as you want to try again as soon as you can - so not knowing when that will be must be difficult.
I am lucky as have nothing wrong with my bits -it's DH who has a low count and low motility (due to rugby injury).
ICSI is the same process right up until fertilization - where they intervene and inject the sperm into the egg rather than leaving them to get on with it themselves - so it takes exactly the same length of time. I really hope for you that AF comes asap and you can start again - it would be great to go through the next one together.

I will be thinking of you tomorrow - it really is good to 'get it over with' so you can move on.

Good luck and take care of yourself.

Love Tina
