2nd HcG didn't double

Post by susanp »

Hi,
I had my Beta HcG on Monday - it came back at 80. Today I had my second - it's only 123. I have to go back Friday for another test.
Anyone out there who is further along - who had a similar experience? (Proving that not doubling in 48 hours can still be OK)

This feels terrible!

Thanks-
Susan

Sorry I'm no help as I was never given my HCG levels and never had them taken again after getting my BFP, but I just wanted to wish you luck, and although the levels havent doubled they have still risen which I think seems good.
Anyway sory not much more help but I'm sure someone else on here will be. If you scroll thru the first tri thread early on I think there is a website mentioned there that gives HCG levels and what they mean

Hi Susan

I know how you are feeling. My 1st HCG was 52. My 2nd 48 hrs later was 81. My clinic were concerned that the levels were not doubling, but it can be ok, as my situation has shown. According to websites I have read, the levels are meant to increase by at least 66% but mine obviously didnt.
There have been other women ive read on this website (Jen F, who recently had her baby was one I read of) who also had HCG levels which didnt look good at the time. Try and keep positive and fingers crossed your levels are increasing more at your next test.
Take care
Love Kim

Thanks so much for the support.

Kim, I am so happy that you are so far along and everything is going well! Congratulations.

Susie, thanks for the web link.

While still freaked out - I'm feeling a bit more calm. Just trying to take it day by day.

Susan,
As Kim says, hcg levels not doubling need not mean anything..
Good Luck, and DO let us know how you got on..

Hi Susan

Remember one thing - as long as they are going up that's a positive sign :D

Not everyone will be the same and some levels don't double as quickly as others, but the pregnancy is still viable - Kim is living proof of that!!!! :D

Good luck on Friday

Goodluck Susan - can't help with Hcg as my cliinc doesn't ,measure it at all but I hope (and believe) all will be well for you. Friday will come round quick enough - try to stay as positive and relaxed as you can,

Just had the third test.
Only 8 hours until I know the results.
In the grand scheme - it's not that long to wait - but given everything - it feels a bit like an eternity.

Susan-

Just checking on on how everything is going with your pregnancy. I had a very similar situation with an hcg that did not double in 48 hours and then the third test did. I am very early still in my pregancy and curious how everything is going with yours.

Thanks,
