Hi Traci,

I think everyone is scared of this, so you're not alone.

Just so that you know, external scans are much clearer when your bladder is full, so they ask you to have this for ET so that they can 'see' the tip of the catheter in the right place, and the fluid the embryos are in being transferred - but if you ask me, you have to have a vivid imagination to see either!!!

Last ET I went to, I didn't overdo it as the 1st time, I had to go just before ET and then had to throw loads of water down me in a short space of time. So, I recommend going to the loo as you feel you would normally and have as much water to drink once (or on the journey) there so you are 'comfortably' full. Not easy, but if you can manage it, it'll help the stress levels.

As for them falling out - I think it is fairly unlikely as the cervix tends to be quite a strong muscle. Otherwise they'd insist we stand on our heads for the 2ww - what a thought!

Good Luck

Love Fiona xxx

Thanks Fiona I must be on a high today I am sat here laughing my head off at some of the things we think about !I will take your tip as this is the main thing at the moment in my mind , I never asked how or what happens in a Dilation I just let them get on with it , I had that with a general then 4 days later had another anistetic on the tuesday for a cyst removal I think I am just so calm with all theses drugs , its great , am actually the calmest I have been in my life and this is what happend last time . I also paid extra for anistetic on egg collection it is well recomended you get an abnesia drug with it and you forget all the trauma.
Thanks again
Tracex
