Natural Conception after IVF???

I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is an increased chance of falling prenant naturally after going through IVF?

Hi, I guess it totally depends on why IVF was needed in the first place.

Many people on here have damaged/blocked tubes or male factor that make natural conception extremely unlikely, if not impossible. If you've a 'unknown' cause of infertility then there's no reason why natural conception couldn't happen at any time, but I don't see that going through IVF can help in anyway.

My doctor tells me that this can happen...that for some people with unexplained fertility it can "kickstart" their bodies for pregnancy...

It is apparently quite common that the less you "stress" about trying to become pg, the more likely it is. OR a lot of couples get pg when they least expect it. That was certainly the case for me earlier this year. A (quick!) rundown -
Have NEVER been on the pill (don't ask me why I just never did! Nagged all my friends to go to the doctors just didn't take my own advise!). Although I therefore class myself as ttc for 7 years, I have in fact never tried not to!! Had my first set of tests done 10 years ago (although that relationship didn't last much after that and hence it's taken me all that time to get to the treatment stage!). Am classed as "unexplained"
Went to doctors back in Feb as was having what I thought was a prolonged period, and stomach ache. Was due to fly out on hols the following day so thought I better get it checked out. Was GOBSMACKED when doctor suggested and confirmed I was in fact pg!! Unfortunately though it was ectopic. That was a hateful time but we did get some comfort from the fact that much to our disbelief we managed to conceive! Something I didn't think would be possible considering it's never happened before. I got the letter for the IVF date about 2 weeks later!!!!!
We have decided to continue with the treatment side of things as I don't really want to wait another goodness knows how many years for a fluke natural conception, but it does goes to show that sometimes, when you least expect it, miracles can happen.

Hi,

my doc told me the same thing... that the IVF process acts to "spring clean" the reproductive organs and some pple conceive naturally the cycle after a failed IVF...

unfortunately it didn't happen for me... but it was heartening to know at the time I guess...
