IVF Transfer

Post by babybooties »

Hello, everyone. I had a couple of questions about my transfer. My transfer was on Monday, 9/27. Eleven eggs were retrieved, we had 7 eggs that fertilized but only 3 embryos made it to the 6 cell stage by day 3. They used ICSI to fertilize the eggs. They said that there was some fragmentation on the three embryos that they tranferred. They graded them as 6 cell grade 2 embryos. The scale that is used at my clinic is a 0-5 scale with 0 being the worst. I'm concerned about the prognosis. Has anyone else had embryos graded this low and successfully gotten pregnant? I am 31 and my husband is 28. I have blocked tubes and my husband has poor morphology, so IVF was our only option. We have utilized our entire savings and are hoping that our transfer is successful. It doesn't look like we will be able to freeze any of the remaining embryos, as there progress was too slow. I would love to hear from anyone who may have a success story against these odds.

Hi Babybooties,
Welcome, And Good Luck on your 2ww.
About the embies,
theres no proper rule which tells you wihc embies will implant and which ones wont.. Lots of women on this site have had what they were told "not up to the mark" and they have gone to have babies, so just keep talking to your embies, rub your tummy and make sure you put your feet up as much as possible!

Sending lots of baby dust your way :D

Babybooties - my clinic will not even tell the grade because it leads to unnecessary concern..there are lots of stories of woman having 'not perfect' embies with fragmentation and go on to have successful births...so please do not get worried now...it is up to nature for the little guys to stick to your endo.

There is a 2WW thread going on and a test list..if you want to be added to the test list - let us know. Basically it is a list of testers, test dates, and outcome.

Hang in there and visualize the little guys burrying into your uterus :D :D :D

Hi Babybooties,
A friend of mine had 3 fresh cycles of IVF with no success. On her last attempt (age was a factor here, hence the last go) they had FET (her husband was away and other factors, hence the frozen attempt). They had only 2 embies left, grade 4s (they were graded the other way - 1 being excellent, 5 being v.poor) so weren't holding out too much hope. however, they now have twin boys!!!
No-one seems to know why some embryos implant and others don't. There doesn't seem to be any uniform answers so please don't worry about the grades.
Hope this success story helps! Good luck!!

Thanks so much for your replies. You all have made me feel so much better. This is a great network of people. I am grateful to be part of it. Tracii, I would like to be added to the test list. I have already joined the 2ww and am checking the message board several times a day. It seems like my only sanity lately.
