Hi girls,
Sorry i haven't been on lately, not been very well at all. Got a bad cold and been feeling absolutely lousy.

Congratulations to Susan, Dora and Danica on your first scans, will you be staying with us for a while longer or are you moving to the other side now?

SusanP - 26th September :D
Dora - 27th September :D
Danica - 29th September :D
Michelle - 4th October :?:
Brandy - 5th October :?:
Ange - 6th October :?:
Tilly - 6th October :?:
KC - 6th October :?:

I've got some very cute little baby smilies saved on my pc that i was gonna use but no idea how to add them so just used the normal ones to show how many heartbeats. I've noticed Smita and Little P have used others, how did you do it?

Can't believe i'm next on the list for my scan, i'll be exactly 8 weeks then.
I'm excited but very nervous, still can't believe this is really happening.

The tiredness is still hitting me hard between 4 and 5pm so i have to have a wee nap. Still finding it horrible brushing my teeth, i've even tried changing toothpaste like LittleP suggested but still heaving and throwing up. Certain smells that never used to bother me are now turning my stomach. I never ever thought i'd choose a cup of tea over coffee but recently apart from my first cup of the day, all i've had the taste for is tea. it's weird.
I'm back to work tomorrow so will try get on when i can.
Good luck to everyone still waiting for their scan.
Take care,
Lotsa love

Michelle

I hope you are all like me, and I am not crazy...but the thought of being pregnant just consumes me. I am constantly reading books and looking online at the pregnancy calendars! Tell me I'm not being obsessive  I think I am just so excited...I have to do something with it if you know what I mean?!

My first scan is next Wednesday the 5th, but I will only be 4 weeks fetal age and 6 weeks gestational age...however you want to look at it. How far along are most of you at your first scan?

Congrats again to everyone! :D :D :D

I was exactly where you will be:
6 weeks LMP; 4 weeks gestational

I check a pregnancy calendar (or three) everyday - but I'm too superstitious to buy any books yet.

I saw the black circle of the "yok sac" and then, remarkably, a flashing light - the heartbeat. It was pretty amazing.

I'm feeling crampy today - so of course having horrible thoughts that something is wrong. But I go back Monday for another scan. Fingers and toes crossed.

hi girls!!
thanx belinda, i still cant believe it - its a dream come true, still so uncomprehendable! hows the weather in sunny qld?
dora, in australia us ivf'ers get the first scan at 6weeks, no additional blood tests or scans so u guys do have a lot more which is reassuring. my next appt is with a normal obstetrician on oct 24 which makes me about 10weeks by then and i dont think thats a scan, its just a first antenatal appt! wowsers! :D
so brandy, its the same with u in how they calculate the 1st scan - technically 6weeks from LMP but 4weeks preg - bizarre how they work it out, i think it gets more confusing coz we know exactky when conception was as opposed to natural conception where they give or take 2weeks so theyve made it universal.. with the scan tho being so early in preg all i could see was a blob amongst a dark circle with a white flashing light!
susan, as much as its hard not to, try not to stress too hard on the cramping, remember what my specialist said - our uteruses are stretching/swelling so of course there is pain!
michelle, you're next to scan, goodluck sweetie, and yep, im loving this thread so will be here for a while longer :D

Hello Girls, hope all of you are doing well.

Susan, I'm in Washington DC, not too far from NJ and PA!! Speaking of cramping, I too am having those today and then those negative thoughts come rushing back to me :( I am on Progesterone supplements (which I believe does get a lil messy), but I'm seeing browish discharge - now I don't know if its becos of the progesterone. I have my next scan at 8 weeks. And like you, I don't have the courage to buy any pregnancy books.

Danica, I got my first scan at 6 weeks and then I was told that I could now see my OB/GYN in another 2 weeks, but I insisted I wanted to come back to the IVF clinic in 2 weeks before I go to my OB/GYN. i had no blood test on my 6 week scan. But I do agree that there are additional tests done here.

Brandy, I too was 6 weeks gestational when I went to my first scan. They usually measure the gestational sac, yolk sac and of course you get to see the marvelous heartbeat (which like others mentioned is a bright flashing light!!! :) ) Good luck for your scan on oct. 5.

Does anyone know what the heartbeat should be at 6 weeks and then at 8 weeks? I was told the hearbeat should be at least 100 at 6 weeks, anyone else have any idea?

Lotsa love
Dora

Thanks for the info, Dora and Danica :) I hope things continue well for both of you. I have slight cramps as well, but my doctor says it is completely normal. She said even spotting is okay as long as it is brown in color and not fresh and red. I am sure you are both fine.

Wish me luck on Wednesday. I hope I am blessed and see that little heartbeat or beats :)

hi girls, just checking in to see how everyone is doing! goodluck for your scan tomorrow michelle and goodluck to u brandy for the day after (in case i cant log on tomorrow) im sure u'll both see beautiful flashing beats!
not sure how many beats p.m its meant to be at at 6weeks but my specialist said that the baby is meant to be about 8mm in length by the 6th week which is different to what a book i have says - it says it should be 4mm - i guess 2mm difference isnt that much!
goodluck girls, im always thinking bout u!

Michelle and Brandy,
Good luck with your scans..
Danica and Susan, its amazing to see the little heart flashing, right??

Dora,
I had brown discharge right until the end of my first tri, daily.. and i would notice it more cause of the pessaries- as in putting them in was always messy.. ugh! And my clinic wanted me to use them until the 2nd tri, so..
don't worry too much abt it..
I'm being very supersttious abt this pregnancy too.. as in didn't buy any books until i got to my second tri, and haven't yet gotten the courage to add my name to the due dates list on the other side..

Ange, Tilly and KC, how're you girls doing?
Take care all..

Good luck Michelle!!

I just had my second scan - all is well - growing and strong heartbeat. Go back in 2 weeks and made an appointment with a regular OB for the 21st.

Crazy! Feel happy but still not ready to rush out and buy all those books.

This weekend I bought some looser shirts and was convinced that I had jinxed the whole thing.

Hello All

Congratualtions SusanP, Dora and Danica on your scans.

I am getting quite excited and nervous about my own scan on Thursday. It will be the first time I have been back to the clinic since ET. DH is coming with me. I calculate that I am exactly 8 weeks today! I have had very few symptoms other than some stomach aches and pains. On the whole I have been ok other than being tired most of the time

Michelle - good luck with the scan tomorrow. Hope you are feeling better.

Brandy - good luck for your scan on Wednesday

Best wishes to everyone
Ange

Hello everyone,

Its taken me from last thurs (when i got my BFP!) til now to get up the courage to join this thread. I feel as though I'm tempting fate by thinking any way into the future. Its a very uncertain time waiting for this first scan and it almost feels like the last 4 days have been longer than the 2WW!!!! Anyway, my 1st scan should be 20th Oct, Im waiting for the appt. Fingers crossed!!! This message board is the only thing keeping me halfway sane!
