Male doctors outshine in IVF?

Post by Fellena »

Today, I was shocked by a friend telling me that the top doctors in IVF arena are all males. I only had one failed IVF cycle and my doc is female. So have no right to comment on that. Anyone can shed a light?
Me: 33 DH:38

Fellena,
My doc is female though I don't think it really matters- what matters is your comfort level with the doc and the clinic..

i dont think that the sex of your doctor will affect your sucess rate, i would say its a co-insidence actually.

But honestly most top doctors are men, ive heard that before, but saying that on my last 2 IUI's i had a female doctor, I feel more comfortable with a lady doctor...
TTC 6yrs......Have jumped off the rollercoaster for now, too many BFN's and too much heartache, to keep going....Moving on to fulfil other dreams!!!

On my first cycle I had a male doctor, and I knew it would work for some reason I trust male doctors more! This time I had a female doctor and kept saying it wont work she did the ET wrong etc, but I was wrong. Dont worry although I prefer a male doctor I think they're both of equally good standards

fellena,

My first doctor was a male (and the embryologist as well) and IVF ICSI failed...

next one will be a woman (and biologist as well) so I will see...

But I rather be treated by a man...

i almost always have male Dr.s... i think that they are more sensitive to a woman (like being brought up never to hurt a woman, ect.) i will say that i had a female (filling in for my doc, who was out of town) do my ET on sunday... it was the WORST ever... she hurt me so bad, and took so much longer.... i've had many ET, and this was the worst pain. usually the ET doesn't hurt at all and is done in 5 minutes.... we were in the room 40 minutes, and i wsa crying the whole time... i even made her stop at one point... i'm still sore from the whole thing..

i think that the success rates are better for men because there are a lot more men doing it, and more experience... i do not choose females because of their rate, but i honestly think men treat woman nicer...

sorry to rant, but it was reallybad sunday!!!!!!!!
