2-3 day periods?

Post by babiluv »

Does anyone here have 2-3 light periods? i was wondering if this effects your ivf results. my periods are usually medium the first day and then light the next two day. i was wondering if this means that it cause my lining to be too thin. i received a negative and the doc told me it might be because of my lining which was at 6.7mm. so i was wondering if this had anything to do with my light periods.
does anyone know about an average of how many cycles a women under 35 would have to go thru before positive?

hey babi,
i too had light periods which only lasted 2-3 days... and still then most of the time they werent full on red blood periods (yuck sorry!) i have severe endo & pcos and i noticed that each time i had surgery to help the probs my periods were heavier and maybe lasted 3-4 days but then it would go back to short, light periods with a lot of pain :?
my last lot of surgery for that was in about novemberish last yr, i had my 1st ivf in feb this year which was -ve and then had a natural FET in aug which thank God, was +ve yay. they say that ivf results has now equaled that of natural conception so theres a positive outlook for all! :D
goodluck!

Hi, I am exactly the same. I asked my IVF doc the same question. I didnt know if a light period meant I wasnt as fertile as other women or any other factor that may reduce my chances of a success. My doctor told me it doesnt make any difference and that some women are light and some are heavy and thats that!?!? He said it is more important that the period is regular and comes approximately the same time each month, (regardless of a 23, 25 or 28 day cycle) then that is all that matters. Hope they are right huh!

My periods last bewteen 2-3 days too, some months only 2 days. I guess i am lucky in that sence but they can be very painful still. Dont think it makes any difference though.

My periods last 1-2 days. first day is medium , then 2 is very light then after that i spot for 3-4 days. Most months about 2wks before i get really bad stomach cramps and feel sick. I also seem to get all the syptoms of having a cold a few days before. Never use to be like this when i waz younger. I then went on the pill for 5 years and i was like this when i came off. I told all this to hospital but they said they didnt think it had anything to do with me not falling preganant. But im not so shure :!: :!:
Also since Jan of this year they have been late. Which made me think it had happened but no such luck. I think i thought its happened that many times. Cause of this i think when it does i wont believe it.

glad to hear the responses. for a while i've been wondering if my chances of conceiving thru ivf decrease since i only have light periods. and my doctor said it was probably due to my line lining. funny thing is that in my teens my period would last for 5 days. now they are regular (which i'm very grateful for) but so light, got me to thinking that might have been the cause to my negative the first cycle.

Does anyone here have thin lining too and is a poor responder? Wonder what causes that, is it just our bodies or is it some other factor?

I'm asking all these questions because i'm about to start another cycle and i'm really worried i'll get another negative.

2 day periods

Mine also 2-3 days no one ever suggested a problem and I responded OK during IVF. Quote 'What a lovely endometrium' from the bloke harvesting my eggs. (You don't really want people making you laugh when you've a probe stuck up your bits but it did make me relax!)

Hi
I also have very light periods lasting 2-3 days. I have told every doctor and nurse i have spoken to about fertility, about light periods and if they indicate a problem. Always told makes no difference and it's if they are regular that counts.

I have had about six periods which only lasted for 3 days right before the IVF I just failed. They were regular. But I was concerned. It is one of the reasons why I rushed into IVF+PGD instead of keep on trying on our own. I used to have 5-day periods with more blood flow. Since my 3th miscarriage with an incomplete D&C, my blood flow in each period seems to get less and less. And then I started to have only 3-day periods rather than 5-day ones. I wonder whether this pattern change is a reflection of my aging with less ovarian reserve? Or it was because of my recurrent miscarriages.

Any thoughts?

i dont think light period has to do anything with age. i'm 28 and started having light period when i was 22, before that i would have regular 5 day periods. i went to the gyn, and i even asked her if she thought having light period would effect my chances of getting a positive and she said she didnt think so, that she thought it only had to be regular.
but i wonder what causes light periods when you had regular period before.

I'm pretty sure that in Zita West's book she says that the Chinese believe that a period should only be about 3 days long.
