Just wondering about hearing the heartbeat for the first time. We heard the heart beat/ rate last thursday and Holy Crap it was fast... 182. I had read where the average was 140-160- Kinda made me nervous because it was so fast... I said, "man, my baby is gonna be a nervous nelly" and my friends said... "Look who the mother is..." There are also some Old Wive's Tales running around that says the faster the heartbeat the more likey it is to be a girl, slower the heartbeat, the more likely it is to be a boy. Silly Tales, was wondering if anybody had heard this?
Its an amazing thing hearing the heartbeat isnt it? I didnt get to hear my baby's heartbeat until my 21 week antenatal check. I found it made it more real than my 20 wk scan! I wasnt told the heart rate though.
I have heard of you been able to tell the sex of the baby through how fast its heart rate was and I think I remember it was meant to be a girl if it was faster, but I dont know how reliable this method is!
Take care

Hi, I dont know what my bubs heart rate is but I have heard this rumour too. One old wives tale that has worked for me though is that if you look awful while pg (which I did last time) then its a girl, but if you look lovely its a boy! My skin has never felt softer and better than it does now, so I think this one is right for me. Good look with your pg
