Flying after IVF?

Post by JitterBugz »

Is it okay to fly after IVF? Will the altitude change affect the pregnancy at all? I was a little worried as I plan to fly abroad for treatment.

Heather, a few people have had tmt abroad so hopefully you'll get some good answers.

I flew home from my first ET after less than a week, BUT it was only a 2 hour flight. The result is singing 'Winne the Pooh' in the other room :) so you can see it didn't do either of us any harm.

You could try posting this question on the Pg after Tmt forum and try to catch the eye of the people there.

Hi,

I had my first IVF done abroad, I flew for 6 hours 3 days after ET.
I obviously asked my doc if this was alright and he sais there was no problems.

I am going to try again in January and this time I have to fly for 9 hours to go back home, and as the IVF did not work on first attempt, I felt guilty about the flight and ask my new doc what he thinks about it:
he said that three days after ET was fine.

I still find this strange as I read on a web site that the first 7 days are really important: embies are making there nest.
But I guess the doc knows his job...
If i can, i will try to wait a week before flying, if I cant ,i will try not too worry.

good luck
xxx
