Dora,
Yes, superstition abounds these days, as well as hypocondria (every cramp, itch, cough could be something horrible). I spoke with an old friend who is a psychologist last night and she made me smile with this advice:
to just try and distract myself with plunging into some sort of art project or reading great (non-pregnancy) books. She laughed and said that her therapist collegues would probably think this is terrible advice - but that sometimes - distractions can be a very good thing.

She also said that I was right in wanting to shoot all of those people who have never dealt with fertility issues - who keep telling me - don't worry - everything will be fine. Yeah, that REALLY helps when people tell me that.

Anyway, I know I sound like a loon - and after the second scan I am feeling more confident - I just don't want to jinx anything.

Good luck to all of the upcoming first scanners!! Keep us posted with your results.

xoxo,
Susan

Brandy...how did your 1st scan go? Can't wait to hear all about it!

For me, the closer I get to Monday, the harder I'm finding the wait. I wish it would hurry up and be here already!

Goodluck to all the scanners tomorrow! I think there are a number of you going in.

The first scan went very well. We saw only one (they thought there may be two), but one very strong heartbeat :D It was the absolute coolest thing I have ever seen! They want me to come back in again on the 14th for another ultrasound and then they said I'll be "just another pregnant woman." I told them I thought I could handle that idea :)

This scan definitely made me feel better and the fact that according to my doctor the chance of miscarrying has dropped from 25% to 10%. I'm sure I will continue to be nervous, but I am going to try and relax and enjoy this from now on 8) 8)

yay brandy congratulations - its just the best aint it!!!! the odds the doc gave u was the same as my specialist and he also said to try to enjoy it as a lot of the 'general' preg population dont have a scan at 6weeks so dont actually know that things r ok! well done :D

in terms of pregnancy books, i guess each to their own, i just find it really exciting going thru the step-by-step guide of whats happening to our bodies and of course the amazing, fast development of our babies' - its a miracle! im the type of person that struggles at the best of times with trying to keep up the PMA - it does feel like its too good to be true but im hoping and praying hard that everything goes well... for all of us...

Hi Ladies,

Please add me on the list. My test day was Oct 3, I got BFP, the HCG is 253. Two days later, My HCG has gone 680, more than doubled. I will have another blood work next week, and I'm expecting the first scan on Oct 24. I will be 7 weeks by then.

Susan, Dora, Danica, Michelle, Brandy, and Ange, Congratulations to all of you. Enjoy the little heartbeats inside of you!

Ange, twins! How cool is that! You deserve two Congratulations!

Tilly and KC, good luck to both of you on the scan today!

Love,

Ange - WOW! Twins!! Congrats!!!
Brandy - Congrats!!

Such happy news each morning when I log on.

May, welcome to the thread!

Interesting info about the chance of miscarriage dropping - my doctor hasn't mentioned anything about mc's - but I'll just take that information to heart and hope it applies to all of us.

While not buying any books - I check this site everyday - totally fascinating:

I am so glad everyone is getting good news! Congrats! Ange...wow! Twins! That's great news :) Let us know how you're feeling :)

Susan, yes...I love that visembro site...it is the best :)

We are pretty luck to have the scans so early...the crazy thing is that my best friend just called me to tell me she's pregnant with her first. Her first scan isn't until much later. It feels good to know that everything is okay, espcecially with all we have been through.
