I am a new member here. I am 34 yrs. So far, I have done 2 IVF/ICSI cycles but have failed. I may have another go next year, but i'm dread to think of the negative result. Would like to hear from and share experience with others who have been throught IVF/ICSI treatment.
Welcome to the site. Im sorry to hear of your failed IVF/ICSI cycles. You have come to the right place though. When you read through other women's posts, you'll find others in a similar position. I hope you get the same support and advice to help you through. There are some 'limbo' sites on the general forum, for women in between cycles at the moment, or just join in where you feel comfortable. A lot of women reccommend a book called 'Fertility and conception' by Zita West, in which it helps you to prepare your body for conception and also has a lot of information on treatment such as IVF/ICSI etc. I havent read it myself, but Ive heard enough praise about it on here! It might be worth considering if you do decide to give it another go.
All the best with your future treatment

Many thanks for your kind message, and Congratulations on your 1st round success. How is your pregnant so far? Wish you all the best for the rest of your preg. time.
I shall look through the posts here and will post as you said when “I feel comfortable about it”
Will see about the book you recommended, do you know how much it is?
Thankyou. My pregnancy is going very well so far. Even the side effects are welcome, its such a blessing.
I think the book is around £15 in the UK. You can probably order it online from such as amazon.com. Women from all different countries have it now!
Take care

I am 23, I found out about this forum last April, when I started my first IVF\ICSI. It was a great comfort for me as I was on my own (my husband was working abroad).
Unfortunately, I did not get pregnant... (out of 11 ovocytes, three got fertilised and out of the three embryos transfered, none survived...)
It was such a hard time for me that I was not ready to go through a cycle again, until now... i am going to try again in January and I cant wait!!
This time i will be more prepared (the punction was very painfull and I did not expect that at all!!) and hopefully it is gonna be happy new year start!
So good luck to you, and hope to speak soon!

I’m sorry to hear that your 1st treatment was not successful, but really hope that things will get better for your next round and finally get pregnant.
I know how hard it is for you as I have done it twice already, and they both gave me a hard time and painful experiences. I must say, I was very pessimistic with my 1st IFV/ICSI in Feb 05. I told myself “your chance is as low as try to win a lottery”. As a result I got negative test and it was hard to swallow even though I prepared for it. I blamed myself for being negative. So on my 2nd treatment July 05; I tried to be positive about every step I went through. Sadly out of 13 mature eggs none of them fertilized. This time it was harder to take because I had high hope all the way. After having calm down and no more tear to shed, went to see the consultant. We were told that it was rare to have a case like ours. And it was a surprise to them. He explained that when you have mature eggs and normal sperms mixed together at least some eggs should fertilize, and to have nothing out of all the 13 eggs was not normal. He said it could have been a problem of a media (culture) which is used to keep the sperms and eggs during the procedure, the media could have been contaminated. Our consultant wants to check the case with other clinics before he gives us a new cycle, and I am not sure when he will get back to us yet.
Sorry for writing a bit long,
I’ll catch up with you gays again from time to time.
I had 12 eggs and we had half IVF/half ICSI. None of our IVF fertilised Dont know reasons why, embryologist was surprised. No mention that anything was wrong with my eggs and DH's sperm was apparently v.good when thawed out.(This was sperm frozen prior to his chemo, so there was nothing wrong with it). Anyway, we had 4 embryos from ICSI and one has developed v.well so far!! I think sometimes there arent always answers why fertilisation hasnt happened (Which makes it more frustrating. Its easier to deal with I think if you have a reason, although if the culture medium has been contaminated that is awful ). Anyway, I just thought Id mention my experience. Has your consultant discussed ICSI at all?
Good luck with everything!
Souris - Good luck with your next treatment. It is hard going through IVF isnt it? Physically as well as emotionally. I remember after my EC saying 'Im not going through all this again'. Have forgotten really how tough it was. Take care.
