Oh, Debra - what lovely numbers - 5 and 8 cell. :) Did 2 embryos perish during the defrost process because I recall you saying you had 3 frozen? I was interested in what you said about the frozen embryo being frozen as a 4 cell and was transferred as an 8? Did it divide again once defrosted? Can that happen in a short space of time? How long do they 'stand' once defrosted before transfer. Sorry, all these questions :? Thanks also for your explanation re over-fertilisation. I guessed that's all it could mean, more than one sperm etc. It happened to us back in '98. They said that 2 had tried to penetrate the egg. Well done for completing your treatment and getting this far. Is it fitting to say, the hard work is over? The 2ww is upon you but all your friends on this thread are with you now and hopefully I will be joining you next week. Hugs and take care - no doubt will catch up with you later. Sharon x

Hi Sharon, to answer your Qs.

1. yes 2 perished during the defrost. One completely failed, the other wasn't good enough to transfer.
2. Yes the thawed embryo was frozen as a 4-cell but by today was 8.
3. Yes it divided since thawing, I assume overnight.
4. We were told the thaw only takes a couple of hours and whilst division is slowish to begin with due to the cold, they warm up sufficiently to continue what they would have done before the freeze. Once thawed and OK, they act/divide just like fresh I believe.
5. No idea, sorry.

Lastly, in one way we're getting there (meds, scans, EC, fertilisation, thaw and now ET are all overcome) but no, I don't think the hard work is done, but that's just because I've had 2 +ves go wrong. Assuming a +ve this time, I'm probably not going to relax until well after the first scan and realistically not until after the amnio at 18weeks.

must go!

Thanks Randa and Sharon.

I'm feeling happy and positive (wayyyyyyyyyyy too early yet though). We've a photo of the embies, never had that before and I well up at the sight of them.

Randa, don't you start that twins nonsense again  DF asked me the same this evening and looked scared!

I've already finished 3 of the 7 books I borrowed yesterday afternoon, this is going to be a very long 2 weeks!

Sharon, do you have a firm date yet?

hugs and hoping you're both feeling well.

Debra, it's late I know and I'm not following Zita's tips re early nights so I'll post now and then off to bed. I have my scan on Friday, 7th Oct to check thickness of linnig of uterus. All being well they will probably offer next Monday or Tuesday but I work from home on Thursdays and Fridays so I may ask if I can wait until then. At least I don't have to make excuses for taking time off, so should know by Friday pm re transfer date next week. Will keep you all posted.

Take care

Hi ladies,

Had my scan this morning - everything fine and we can proceed with the transfer next Thursday, as I always say, all being well. We only have 2 embies left so we'll have to keep everything crossed that at least one or even both survive the defrost.

Jane - ET 2 Oct, in 2ww, Oct ? test date
Debra - ET 5th Oct
Katie - donor/FET 10th Oct.

Kat - started bcp 18th Sept. Fresh/donor cycle end Oct
Nuala - fresh cycle, late Oct.
BigJ - fresh/donor cycle in Kiev in November.
Caroline - basking in the sun... November FET cycle planned

Debra, how are you feeling post transfer - getting through those library books? Keep up that positive feeling and spread it around this group PLEEEASE :)

Jane, how's the 2ww going for you - have you got plenty to occupy yourself with? Hope you're doing well.

Katie, any news for you yet? Is W/C 10th Oct on for you too?

Hope everyone else is well.

Take care ladies

Hi Ladies,
So much going on here:
JANE: How is the wait going???
DEBRA P: How do you feel...hav you had the transfer and now waiting for a wonderful positive? Thanks for asking about me.
Sharon: I'm praying for both of us. Good luck with the thaw and implantationBigJ: How wonderful to have a fresh transfer. I am really praying for you sweetie.

Kat: How are you?
ME: Transfer scheduled for Monday at 9:30 am. I am praying hard that both will make it...but I will still be thankful for 1. The donor got pregnant twice from this batch so the nurse in charge of embryo adoptions is very hopeful. My fear is the age of the frosties (8 yrs old). Please Guys say a prayer for me. I would love to have both implant.

Katie, best of luck on Monday. Your ticker says you're already one day past ET??? Is it me?

If the donor got pg twice from this batch what fab proof they are good quality embies :) What do you know about older frosties? is there much research out there on it? How come they were still at the clinic? our clinic makes you sign a disclaimer that if you've not used/collected your frosties they have to be distroyed after 5yrs. I think the UK is the same.

Anyway.....good luck on Monday. Looking forward to having you and Sharon join Jane and me on the 2ww.

Jane, do you wan to join the test date thread? if yes, let me know your test date.

Sharon, I hope this last weekend before ET passes smoothly. I know it's hard to relax (goes for you too Katie, but it must be done!).

hugs
Debra.

Hi girls,

Hope everyone is well this evening. I had the most wonderful Indian Head Massage today. I had such an awful tension headache yesterday and in my neck and around the shoulder blades that I just had to do something about it - so I found this wonderful therapist in the yellow pages. I told her she had to come and live with us forever!! :) I've been a bit naughty thought Debra - I decided to paint our bedroom as we have a new bed arriving in a couple of weeks and I know after next Thursday any kind of strenuous work is going to be a no no so I am going hammer and tongs to get it finished. I won't let DH paint - he hasn't got the patience so I prefer to do it and know it will be done properly!! I know I shouldn't but it's nearly finished and after tomorrow I REALLY will relax for next Thursday.

Katie - it's all coming together for us all on this thread now - seems everyone is at some crucial stage of treatment or 2ww. Will be thinking of you on Monday and hoping those two little embies come through - hugs and so much PMA heading your way. I will be going down that road on Thursday.

Jane, how's the 2ww going?

Debra. are you ok and taking it easy?

Hi Kat, Nuala, BigJ and Randa - are you all ok?

Going to crash for the evening now and do absolutely nothing. Speak to you soon ladies.

Hugs

Sharon....double snap! On ET morning, I painted the upstairs loo ceiling! I knew I'd not do it afterwards....let's call it practice for the nesting thing :D

Enjoy your relaxing Saturday night. I've escaped from Noway + Moldova's world cup qualifier....yawn....

Hello Again,
No Debra is not you...its lazy ME. My transfer day was postponed from the 7th (Fri) to Monday the 10th. I haven't changed it. I'll change it on Monday when I pray to be on a wait. Do transfers require the entire 2 week wait??? I believe my 2 precious frosties are 8 cell.
****My frosties were donated to the clinic. The donating couple completed their family after having 2 boys from this batch. I'm not sure what the procedure is when they are not donated and not used. What do you think about their age??? That worries me but I just pray for a miracle and god's blessing.

Katie,
I could be way off, but I would think that freezing is freezing. I don't think it matters how long they've been frozen, as long as they were properly cared for the whole time, and no reason to think they were'nt.
Time has stood still for them. Isn't that right? I don't think it's like food that can eventually go bad in the type of freezers we use for food. Cryogenics is very diffferent. Isn't it? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Best of luck on your transfer! And remember, they wouldn't do it if it weren't okay. :D
