5 DAY BLASTOCYST FET & THE 2WW??

Post by CARINABOO »

Hi there,

Was just browsing through the 'Pregnancy after treatment' forum and someone mentions there that you dont have to wait for the full 2WW with a 5 day Blastocyst?!?!? has anyone heard of this?? I thought no matter what everyone has to ride out the dreaded 2ww regardless of the stage/grade etc of embryo??

p.s. funny story - when I first joined this forum I didnt click what the 2ww was, all I could work out at first was that everyone hated it and found it really hard. ADMITTEDLY, I was very relived that MY doctor hadnt mentioned the term 2WW and was very relieved that it seemed I didnt have to have THAT as a part of my treatment............... THEN REALITY BIT..... will be founding out for the first time in Nov what it is like sounds more it is like 2 mths waiting, oh well.

Carinaboo its funny that you should mention this topic because when I asked my clinic (a nurse) what I should do after the transfer (bedrest or not) she said she wouldn't ask me to do nothing for 11 days. It didn't register then but could this mean that instead of 14 days it dwindles down to 11 days? If all goes forward tomorrow with my transfer I will ask and post back to you.

Guess what...my clinic just called to confirm my 9:30 am transfer (no news on the thaw...won't find out until tomorrow morning).
It's only a 11 day wait...Horray...14 days is a lifetime

Hi,
I had a six-day FET and my RE scheduled the blood test for 11dpt, but he also said if I did not get a positive HPT on 10dpt or 11dpt that he thought the bloodwork would also be negative. Something else my RE said which might be of interest to you is he said he liked to wait an extra day for FET. I didn't ask why.

Anyway, I tested early and I now have a collection of 10 positive HPT. Yes, I am a bit obssessed, but I never thought I would ever see two lines. I wouldn't suggest testing early however it can be mindwrecking. I am now betting on twins since the HPT turned postive so early.

Good luck!!!!

You do indeed have to wait for less than 2 weeks. I had two blastocysts put in on Friday and will be tested a week tomorrow! Doesn't really seem that long

Yep, the 2WW isn’t really 2 weeks for anyone – if you do a day 1 transfer then technically you’d test 13 days later, and so on. I always do a blastocyst transfer so test 9 days later. The 2 weeks start from EC date, not transfer date. For example, I’ll be hopefully doing a natural FET in November, using 5-day blastos. These will be transferred on Day 19 (5 days on from Day 14), assuming my cycle is the regular 28 days it usually is.

My clinic always ask us to go back for a blood test 2 weeks to the day after ET...makes for a very long wait when the result takes 24hrs :(
