Hi Katie,
It is great to have a neighbor on the site!!

Good luck tomorrow!!

I am 8 weeks pregnant from IVF.
We had 2 unsuccessful IUIs, one with clomid and one with injections. Before that, we did clomid for 2 months with timed intercourse.

I feel completely lucky that the IVF worked, (sad that no fertilized eggs could be frozen) - and also lucky that NJ mandates insurance to pay for treatment.

Do you like the practice you are working with?

I've loved my (ivf new jersey), especially the nurses - they have been so supportive.

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you for tomorrow - please let us know how you're doing.

Take Care,
Susan

Oh Susan...how wonderful!!!!!!
I like my clinic...although I've never had an experience at any other clinic. They are giving me a wonderful gift...the 2 embryos. I thought I would pay a fee maybe for storage or something since they have been there for 8 years but the insurance rep told me I had no $ responsibilties. Its the most beautiful gift I can imagine. There is one nurse there that I really love she actually was the one that told me she had a perfect match for me when I inquired about embryo adoption. She even gave me a tiny picture of the siblings once I offically began the transfer cycle. It is a wonderful match. The kids look like they could be my babies easily. ...the other nurses are little more business like.

Yes, I love the NJ laws that mandate insurance companies cover infertility cost...we are lucky. My insurance plan allows me to stay with the clinic for 8 weeks after pregnancy. Are you still with your clinic?[/color]Do you have any morning sickness?
Susan I'm praying hard...thank you for your warm thoughts.

Hello Ladies

Post by Babysoft »

I hope everyone is doing very well! I just came back from my trip...unfortunately I didn't win anything, but I did get a chance to get my mind off of trying to get pregnant. Even though I had to take my medicine while I was there.

Colleen..yes I am using the ovi kit and I plan on testing starting Wednesday 10/12 which will be my 9th cycle day. I know it is a little early, but better safe than sorry. Ooh and I LUV to gamble..I get a release from stress and in the process could possibly win some money! I'm a BJ player, but I would love to learn poker...I watch the tourni's on ESPN and I want to get on there and play..but I'd probably give away my hand, so I'll stick to BJ. I hope I'm not wrong, but I believe you had your IVF a few days ago and if so lots of PMA and baby dust your way...I'll be waiting for that BFP

Nicki, I am not having a scan done until IUI. It seems a little strange to me as well, but they are doing blood test on 10/12, then I start with the sticks. When I have my surge they are gonna bring me in the day after for the IUI. Are you taking any type of ovi injection. Before when I was trying with clomid, my doctor would bring me in for a scan and then an injection to induce ovi, but this doctors says there is no need for that, so we will see how it works out. I'm really hoping I get a good result, I've been going through it now that my DH's brother just had another baby and I can't take another disappointment...so praying really hard and trying to stay positive.

Incase I didn't tell everyone...I'm in GA! But I use to live in NJ (South Jersey) and after reading some the post, I see that NJ has a mandatory payment for infertility...does that include all IVF costs? I'd be willing to relocate to save on the cost of paying out of pocket for IVF...my insurance doesn't cover any of it and shared risk is well over $20K.

Well keep the PMA going and good luck on all 2ww's, scans, IUI's and naturals!

Katie,
Wishing you all the best luck in the world. What an amazing gift from your clinic - that's just fantastic!

Next week is my last visit with my clinic and my first visit with a 'regular' ob-gyn. My husband and I moved to NJ from Boston in December - so going to the clinic weekly has been the most regular thing in my life since we moved here. I've come to depend on the support and kindness of the practice. It will be hard to transition. Also, I think I will have super high expectations of the regular practice.

Katie, take care of yourself.

Hello US Girls~*~*~~*~*~*~~*
The transfer went smoothly. We think both embies survived the thaw but can only be positive about one of them. The lower grade one did change and the doctor said he has seen others like this go on to implant...its in God's hands and I am praying hard. I want to be their Mommy with every fiber that is inside of me.
Love To All,
Katie

Dear Babysoft-

Sorry, I missed your question about NJ insurance before.

I have Aetna insurance and everything needs to be approved through them. You have to call their special infertility line to get approved for each cycle.

I did 2 rounds only clomid- (including the HSG test)
1 clomid + IUI
1 injection + IUI

Typically, they make you do a few more IUIs, unless your doctor writes something to them and proves it with your charts.

Whatever my doctor wrote worked, because we were able to do IVF in August.

Aetna covers 4 retrievals (I'm not sure if that's 4 for the patient - or 4 per child trying to be conceived) and unlimited transfers of frozen embryos.
But, they do not cover the cost of freezing.

They also cover the medication - but that has been a big pain because you have to use their special mail order pharmacy that always gets things wrong - or go to a regular drugstore and have to wait 3 months to get reimbursed.

I've heard that MA is also a mandated coverage state, as well as CT. But, I just heard on NPR that CT only mandates coverage for women under 40.

I think there are 10 or 15 states that mandate some sort of coverage.

Georgia Health Plans Suck

Post by Babysoft »

Thanks for the infor Susan. My sister still lives in NJ and I had her call about her insurance coverage. She works with the BOE and they cover everything....and I mean EVERYTHING! I am so SAD! My insurance doesn't cover anything and I do not think GA is trying to start mandating infertility coverage anytime soon  I guess they feel it's a problem we should pay out of pocket to fix! Anyway I have been trying to talk to my husband about moving (it's only been since yesterday), but he isn't too keen on the idea! I must admit, I am not excited about going back either. I was raised there and it isn't much to go back to in my opinion! I just want this so bad, I guess I'm feeling kind of desperate! I really wouldn't mind paying, if there was a higher percentage or guarantee on me getting pregnant. I just hate the fact that I have already spent over $10k and I'm still not preggers yet and the bills keep coming! The things we have to deal with being an infertile couple should be enough to make the Gov pass a law to help us with our infertility. Anyway thanks for the info...I'm just venting a little.

Sorry if I seemed self centered before, but TO ALL WHO ARE ONE 2WW'S, SCANS, IVF AND/OR ANYTHING DEALING WITH OUR DESIRE TO HAVE CHILDREN.....BEST OF LUCK AND TONS OF PMA AND BABY DUST YOUR WAY!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Babysoft,
If your medical bills for the year are high you can write them off on your taxes. We have to pay for all of our infertility also and we have kept every single thing that has to do with medical because our accountant said we can write it off this year, We safe recipets for prescriptions doc appointments for both of us that has nothing to do with inferility either, It all counts.

HELLO OHIO HERE AND NEW TO ALL THIS ivf STUFF

Post by Sralphj »

I am 32, I had my tubes tied 4 years ago AND I have three children ages 12, 6, 5,. I have brown hair and brown eyes. I am 5'3 108 # but my brothers are over 6' and my girls are tall, I am very fertile, my two youngest ones are 14 months apart. We want to have another child despreatly but cannot afford it. I thought that if I could donate my eggs or embryos, then I could share them with someone wanting a child also. If the couple would pay for the treatment instead of paying me for the eggs or embryos they could just pay for me to have IVF, and the meds and we both could become pregnant. I am willing to go through more cycles if needed and would try my best for you to become pregnant at the same time. and with an extra cycle if needed. If this sounds like something you may be interested in I can email you pictures of me and my children, If you need embryos my husband is 39 and 5'7 and he is a big guy at 235 but all my kids are tiny guess they all took after me. I am a licensed practical nurse. Both our grandparent are american indians so my kids look like they were born with a cool tan. I am willing to travel as long as expences are paid. Please consider me as an option. We can agree on a contract that gives you the left over eggs and embryos because I could not afford to save them.
love Carrie and Ralph
