Hi - new here from W. Yorkshire

Post by MichelleM »

Hi everyone! I'm living in Castleford, West Yorkshire with my darling hubby of two years. I'm 33, he's 34 and we desperately want to start a family.

When I was around 22 I started having "problems" and a few years after that was diagnosed with pre-ovarian failure. Joy

Other than adoption, our only chance is egg donation. We finally had an appointment with a clinic in Leeds, but the waiting list is ridiculous. I'd rather not wait until I'm 37 to have my first attempt at being a mother.

Anyway, glad I found you all. Being in this situation can be a lonely place when your friends are able to conceive without problem.

Michelle :)

Hi Michelle, you might want to have a read of the Egg and Embryo Donation board on here. There's also a couple of threads on the General Forum re. donation that you might find interesting.

I hope you find some help. I can understand why you'd not want to wait 4 years (although I had my first ivf at 38 and gave birth at 39 - it's doable). Some people go abroad and have private tmt at European clinics that specialise in egg donor tmt. There are a couple in Barcelona that people on here have used and one in Kiev.

Good luck
Debra.

Hi Debra, thank you for your reply.

I glanced briefly at the Egg Donation board, but will read it a bit more. I have heard about people going abroad for donations and having a lot of success with it.

Congrats on your IVF success!

Hi Michelle ... Good to have you on board !!

St James, Leeds ? If that's the case, I, too, have recently been referred there ... something like a 2 or 3 year waiting list. I think this is quite typical of most NHS hospitals. You're actually on the Waiting List now I take it - or have you not even got that far ..? It's so frustrating to just wait your life away ..

Hi Michelle

Welcome to the site! Im also from West Yorkshire (Huddersfield). I had my scans etc at Calderdale in Halifax and EC and ET at St James in Leeds. Is it St James or LGI you had your appointment at?
Anyway, good luck with your future treatment. You've come to the right place here for support and advice.

Hi Kim and Sandra - thank you for the warm welcomes.

We were referred to LGI (Leeds General Infirmary). Yep, we're finally on the waiting list. But, DH and I decided to pursue other options also as we don't want to wait that long.

Other options being Spain, South Africa, etc. Basically not England! LOL

I'm glad to be here. It'll be nice to be able vent, cry, etc. to people who know what I'm going through.

xx Michelle xx
