Hello everyone

Glad to be back, last time i came on i was totally depressed left a post feeling really sorry for myself, came back on to see if any replies and the bloody thing had gone!!!

Well while it's been off, we managed to get accepted at hospital for our 1st IUI, was really shocked as we were told we might not get seen for a few months, but rang up saturday morning cos Aunt Flo had turned up, found out sat afternoon that we could start sunday. We had to go 1st thing for a scan, the place was packed, couldn't believe it thought we would be the only ones there, anyway had 1st injection, no probs, really excited. Monday me and DP came to do the injection, his hands were shaking like mad he was so scared, he did the injection but took his time, it stung like mad, i got up straight away to do our tea, bent down to open the cooker and nearly passed out, i felt really sick and thought i was going to faint, it was horrible i was lay on the bathroom floor, thinking christ if it's like this everytime can't cope with this, tues injection just sat down for 10 mins after but it stings like mad, is this normal, it has got a bit better since (i've had hot water bottle on my stomach- am i just being soft)but didn't realise it would sting so much!! as i have just started iui i don't know what's right or wrong, i'm even worrying whether the hot water bottle will do any harm!!! Can anyone give me any advice don't like mithering the nurses cos they seem so busy, is there anything i should or should not be doing at the moment and can i have a drink??

Glad to be back catching up with everyone
Jackie
hi jackie hope you are feeling better

im having iui aswell but im having nat cycle so dont have exp with the drugs

but if there is anything else about it that i can help you with just let me no

good luck
love di
Hi Jackie,

Now I know everything about iui, unfortunately I have had 2 failed on me. I found the injections ok, no probs. If you have been told to keep injections in the fridge, take out five mins before you take it, cause the coldness can make it sting when it goes in and you must relax when taking the injections. I found it easier to give myself the injections as I knew when the prick was coming, so to speak. lol

Good Luck
Love
Pat
x
Hi Jackie,

The only advice i can really give is that you take it out of the fridge about half an hour before using it - dont keep your needles in the fridge tho - thats one reason for them stinging. Also, if you have a little wipe - your clinic should have given them to you, they are just antiseptic wipes, use one of them first, then grab a bit of skin on your stomach, below your belly button is usually best - then while holding the bit of skin (flab in my case!!! ) slowly insert the needled at a 90 degree angle. Push firmly then pull out quickly in one movement. as soon as the needle comes out, give the bit of skin where it's been a good hard rub. I find this always helps.

Hope that your treatment goes well,
Heather
xxx

Thanks everyone - i start stabiing in about ten day so this will really help. Can't decide whether to do them myself or let DH do them!

I'm usually ok when i have injections but only if i'm looking the other way - i might jab it somewhere i shouldn't!

Lots of luck, Jackie - hope the insemination goes ok next week,
Lizzy xxx
Thanks for your tips, slightly worried though cos i haven't had my stuff in the fridge, they didn't tell me to at the hospital, they didn't give me any antiseptic wipes neither i went to boots and bought some, the injections are getting better though i think it's just a shock at first. Go for my day 8 scan tomorrow so will know more then.

Cheers
Jackie
