Just wanted to send you an EXTRA LARGE CYBER HUG - I know it's DH you need right now, but please be assured you have a lot of friends here.

Take care of yourself and fingers crossed for that scan next week.

Thanks for your kind words of encouragement. I appreciate it.

Smita - I wish for you that you did have more time to spend with DH, but I am also a strong believer of being able to stay close even at a distance. My parents and I have proven that.

Kim - You are so lucky to receive paid maternity leave and option to go part-time. That is great. I forgot to mention that my wonderful meeting ended with my boss saying, "Oh, and you do realize that your leave is unpaid." Well. . .I wasn't expecting anything different than that from him.

Little P - Glad you are feeling Little Kicks. It is quite amazing isn't it. Each day, I seem to be getting more and more attached. And so is DH.

Just want to say that my pregnancy books (as everyone knows, I have a collection!) say that an increase in discharge is normal. (as long as its not a different colour etc).
Take care

Hi guys

Can I pick everyones brains about the triple test. I just can't decide whether to have it done. My midwife was next to useless and just handed me a blood form and gave me the most uninformative information sheet.

Statistically I am low risk due to my age and even if we were having a disabled child, I think I would carry on with things after the struggle we have had to get here. So is there any point putting myself through the worry. DH thinks that it is better to know things in advance so you can plan for them. We are having a detailed scan at 20 weeks so that is likely to give us some indication.

Has anyone else had dilemmas about the test??.

Sorry to go on. Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Hi Olivia. I had a nuchal test at 12 weeks. The result showed a low risk for downs, but showed that bubs could possibly have a heart problem. I spent the next 8 weeks in hell worrying what would be wrong with bubs, then at my 20 week scan I was told all looks OK.
If my results had shown anything wrong with bubs I would not have been able to carry on with the pg which is why its important for me to have the test.
I f you have the triple test and you come back as high risk are you gonna have an amnio? If you will not have an amnio then you are just putting yourself up for more stress, so I would advise dont do it. I know I regret my nuchal. The 20 week scan can pick up most problems that bubs could have, so if I were you I would wait til then and see.
Good luck whatever you choose

K,

THanks, I guess I was concerned because I had such an increase just overnight....My Dr. said it is normal and not to worry unless it was foul smelling, itchy or burning...

Olivia

Just wanted to say good luck with whatever you decide to do with reference to the scan.

I know whatever decision you make it'll be the right one for you and DH.

Hope you're taking care of yourself.

Hi girls,
Thank you all so much..Like i said it always gets me down if i think abt it..
Joy,
am having my IVF in India cause
a) my parents are here for support, and b) main reason being theres no proper ivf centre/clinic in Bahrain(middle -east), so we're not sure how good it would be..
and having had a history of spotting, and now the fluid thing, we dont know that if i go back, whether they can deal with this stuff properly..
If all were normal, I wouldn't think so much..
Hows your dh now? and have the ickies gone yet?

Sher,
do you and your parents live really far apart?Your boss sounds weirder and weirder for lack of unparliamentary words
LP,
Thank you again..Must be wonderful feeling those kicks- I cant wait to feel them..not long i guess..

Olivia,
Like everyone says, it has to be a personal decision, and a lot of ladies dont seem to have gotten it done unless their hosp insists on it.. in India, they do the nuchal fold scan only for women who've conceived thru IVF..
Good Luck in whatever you decide..

Jessica,
I've had white discharge in my second tri- more than usual..in fact with the spotting i've had i still check to see if its blood or something..Like Kim says, its normal..

Weekends almost here :D
have a nice day all!

Hi Olivia

I debated over whether to have the triple test or not and decided not to in the end. Luckily, My midwife was really helpful. I really didnt want to have an amnio. The risks at 1-2% of miscarriage were just too high for me. I also know that, after discussions with my DH we couldnt get rid of my pregnancy if there was a problem. 'High risk' is classed as more than 1 in 250, which as my midwife said, even 1 in 100 are good odds for a betting person! She said because Id decided I didnt want an amnio, it probably wasnt worth putting myself through weeks of worry if I came back with a 'high risk' result.
Good luck with whatever you and your DH decide.

hi everyone
olivia...i was advised in so many words not to have the nuchal test by all medical staff and i still didnt know wot i wanted ..i wanted it to be set in stone either to be said yes u must have it or no u musnt but nobody would say that untill i spoke to my next door friend who happens to be a sister on a womens ward in local hospital she told me exactly wot i wanted to hear she said as a frind she was telling me not to have it done i respected her advice and declined that test
then 16 weeks came along and it was time for my triple test this time id decided and hubby that i would have it done
the antinatal clinic said they would write with results and if there was a problem would get in touch by phone i tried to put it out of my head and thought of it as just a blood test untill the results came thru the post which was a good sign both my hubby and i sat looking at the envolope for a while then opened it to find the results a low risk because of my age the thought of a problem with the baby was in my mind a lot but now its good news thats 1 less thing to worry about ...i think if id not of had the test i would be still worried and if the test came back high then again id still be worried so in my mind i had nothing to lose
everyone is diff and seems every hospital is aswell with regards tests and advise all i say is go with ur heart and u do wot u want to do and wot feels right for both of u
good luck hun i hope u get the answer remember only u can deside wot u want
hope everyone else is doing ok on this wet and cold typical british day

Jacs

Sorry the weather cr*p for you - we've luckily experienced a lovely day here so far, but no doubt tomorrow will make up for that!!!

Saw some friends yesterday who I haven't seen for ages and they couldn't believe the size of my bump - I have to say there's definitely something to be proud of!!!

Has anyone been playing the "guessing game" - using the Old Wives Tales to determine what they think they are having. Obviously some of you have found out already, but what about you girls who don't know - do you have any inkling.

Hope you're all ok.
